they did since the original game, if you have high enough hidden points with Tifa, it's pretty much implied they do the delicious the night before going to the volcano.
Square has not given the fans anything they wanted which explains why rebirth sales are down 45 percent compared to rebirth...we didn't want this horse monkey timelines and crap

Cloud initiating the kiss is so goddamn powerful. And it's easy to miss, but the hug was powerful too. In Remake, he couldn't hug Tifa right without hurting her. Now he does it with ease. Awesome show of character growth from Cloud.
Agree, In general, the development of all the characters (except Vince and Cid due to lack of time) is simply brilliant
I wouldn't say the powerful hug was easy to miss. He literally yanks her towards him, a bit like in the play. Frankly, I'd have fainted in Tifa's stead. Those goddamn eyes of his.

They did so well in keeping with Cloud leaning more towards himself post-Midgar. He's dropped the tough-guy act now and is a lot more expressive with his friends. Makes me wonder how Part 3 is gonna handle Mideel and Tifa/Cloud going forward

Tifas facial expressions prior to the kiss are some of the best in the game. The way her eyes go from confusion to "wait, are we doing this", with the slight trepidation, the hesitation in her hand. It is SOOO well done.
They done facial expressions so well in the game it feels so much more real!!! Incredible well done to the devs❤
What I love about this scene is that in the OG, Tifa tried her best to confess her feelings to her childhood crush but was sadly "Interrupted By Fireworks", hence the title of this track. Now, 27 years later and with a new gorgeous backdrop, it's Cloud who makes the first move to affirm their relationship. Just like that, the fireworks transformed from a barrier to an applause, a second-chance done right! It's like the devs themselves are celebrating this historic moment with us!
There’s so many little details throughout the whole scene that I absolutely adore. 0:48 Tifa is clearly shy/nervous but super happy about this moment 1:01 the way Cloud without hesitation embraces Tifa for a split second 2:07 you can clearly tell he’s about to tell her something. The music changing to what plays once the kiss sequence starts is a dead giveaway he was about to “spill his guts” to her 2:53 staring at Tifa and when Tifa sees him, they both shyly look away 4:54 Tifa holding her own hand. She does this in a lot of moments throughout the game when it’s just her and Cloud. She yearns for someone to be able to love 5:10 her adorable smile when she realizes that Cloud is opening himself up to her. 5:28 Cloud being super gentle with her and slowly moving in for the money shot, as Tifa gives her approval by closing her eyes. And lastly, at 5:55, they both act adorably shy when they make eye contact In the OG, the fireworks actually interrupt the moment they’re about to kiss. But here, if anything, it enhances their moment when they hug and Cloud moves in for the kiss. Square plz, give our boy a happy ending at the end of Part 3. Have Cloud and Tifa get married with Aerith being the flower girl lol Also as a tangent… the song that plays in this sequence… if you’ve played the OG, it plays during one of the most heartbreaking moments in the entire game. The fact that they use it here for this scene… means that when they use it again for part 3, it’s going to hit like a truck
The looks they give each other constantly throughout the scene are incredible. The warm look she gives him, the piercing look he gives her and glances in between. The whole scene is done to perfection.
Too bad the fireworks made the kiss look a bit dark af, but hey at least we got it.
A 38 year old dad here. I lived this moment live, without spoilers and without anything, playing it myself. I can assure you that I was moved. My wife was with her computer, next to me. She is not a big fan of the final fantasy saga but she was moved to see me so excited and she recognized that the moment of the kiss was very well designed, especially Tifa's gestures, looking at Cloud's lips. It must be recognized that Square Enix has done a great job in general on Rebirth

It has always been Tifa. The poor kid had been obsessed over her his whole life. Cloud has always been a loner, so it was hard to approach her with her friends. But this game shows just how mush cloud loves and cares about Tifa.

I swore myself I wouldn't see any spoilers until I get the game and play it. But this... I couldn't resist not seeing this... This warmed my heart. Tifa is such a beautiful character, her depth is more than meets the eye... and I'm just glad they had this moment. My couple deserve this... I'm just happy I could live to see this happen finally. Two of my favourite characters in fiction... together like this, it's gorgeous and I'm glad I'm alive to see this. Cloud & Tifa forever.

It’s a nice detail that Tifa quickly glances at Cloud’s lips before they kiss. Someone said it in another video where Yuffie says “Kiss, kiss!” but it’s nice attention to detail with body-movements by Square Enix.
i still can NOT believe the mad lads at SE did it, they finally chose to be EXPLICIT which is such a taboo word when it comes to SE but they actually did it, not only that but for anyone who wanted to doubt the kiss being mutual, cloud literally confirmed to tifa their mutual feelings and that she is not ahead of herself "not one bit" and then hugs her and finally KISSES HER, absolute perfection for the greatest couple in ff history, and we didn't reach the ultimate peak of this love story yet

Square Enix debunking the Cloud x Aerith argument that Cloud only chose Tifa because Aerith was dead. I'm so happy the kiss happened before that. It shows that when the choice between the two girls was open and available, Cloud made it clear whom he wanted romantically, and that was Tifa.
I’m glad they went this route cuz it showed and proved who Cloud always wanted romantically and it was Tifa always has been hell even Aerith seemed to ship them both when they were on a date. Had Yuffie not interrupted them they for sure would’ve kissed in Gongaga and that would’ve definitely pissed off the Clerith fans cuz that would’ve been a non optional scene

so from what i get from this game both aerith and tifa affection max is that during the date with aerith she comes to terms that she is using cloud as a way to not accept the fact that zack is dead and that cloud feelings for her is not that of romantic but a very special friend as she says i know where i stand plus she also admits she doesnt like cloud as a romantic person as she thought she did like how she did with cloud the way i see this game is that it gonna bring closure for cloud and aerith and accept what happen to him just what im getting from the game

Cloti is canon. Even if the date is optional, Cloud is the same character in all the dates. He kisses Tifa because he loves her. He still loves Tifa even if he goes on a date with Aerith. That's why he never kisses Aerith, and it never goes past hand holding. That's why he says they're friends on their final date. Cleriths can scream about how this scene optional until their lungs are raw, but every single gamer that plays this game to completion will see that Cloud loves Tifa the most.

Did not expect Cloud to initiate. Always figured Tifa would have to make a move, because Cloud can't take a hint to save his life.
Honestly these choice based gameplay typical of RPG may interfere with the character’s actual personality. It’s like they completely switch personas to fit the choices you make. So like Cloud who is often socially unaware, is now the one who initiates the hug and the kiss because the player choice has led him there

Man... in 2015 my dad made me play the original ff7 for the first time. I was 11 at the time and my dad made me Do all the optional romance/flirting Stuff with Tifa just to show off to one of his friends who played the Game that even I, a 11 year old Knew That Cloti Was Real. My old man Left me in 2017 and i have no doubt he is super pissed he never got to play the remake. I don't own a ps5 but once this is out on Steam i Will Play it soo fckn much. For Both of us Pa.

I like how they're both kind of unsure and shy about where their relationship is. She tests the water asking if it's weird that they're basically on a date, he seems surprised and responds back mostly positively but still giving her an out if she wants it--she escalates but then immediately worries she went to far and backs down... and Cloud takes that as an invitation to go in "for the kill" so to speak.

This romantic scene with Tifa is just so beautiful. Given the various choices that are available, this is clearly the canon choice. Even the loveless play, where Tifa is part of the play, versus just being in the stands. I can only imagine that part 3 will explore this more. Especially after cloud regains his memory and Tifa is by his side. Just a beautiful scene. A+
I think they did this in such a classy way. Cloud and Tifa are shown to be in love with one another but each has their understandable reasons for not being open about their feelings, therefore any romance will of course be a slow burn. Cloud being that tad more assertive is what fans were hoping to see and thankfully the writers nailed it IMO. ❤

No joke, this is one of the most romantic scenes I've seen in any medium (including movies, tv, etc.), and it's crazy to think that it's likely to only get better in Part 3.

For years now, ever since her character was made, Tifa became and stayed as one of the most attractive and badass characters in history, ask any guy or girl and they will tell you, Tifa is hot. So, since she ain't real and not one person has a shot at her, Cloud is our only option. We pray to God that in the next game they don't make Cloud fuck it up because god damnit, if he fucks this up, if he doesn't nail it with Tifa, we are all fucked.

I love this kiss so much, because it’s mutual on both sides, especially from Cloud’s part. What I love most about Cloud and Tifa relationship is that they really care about each other first, then the romance can’t help but show up. They aren’t shy towards each other, it’s that they care too much about the other person and their boundary to overstepping it. It’s not that they lack confidence, it’s because they know about each other’s trauma and want to respect that and help each other through it first. I think that’s why the gondola moment is so important, it’s one of those rare moments where they aren’t worried about Sephiroth and the end of the world, so they have a chance to really show each other their feelings. Anyone who thinks that this scene is anything but a well deserved, well built up love confession from each side is delusional.

Crazy part about this is that it's made as optional but regarding other parts of the story and another moment in gongaga when they almost kissed again this feels like it's canon and not even close to having other options. Re watched the recording I did when I myself got to this point and honestly this might as well be one of the top fictional romance you can get. Edit: It also occured to me that there is practically nothing like what goes on between tifa and cloud happens with aerith outside of the intended quests though considering the ending Cloud and Tifa is pretty much going to be public within the 3rd installment or somewhere in between there's also highwind which is exciting because this gold saucer went pretty romantic with them. As for clerith eh since it has been confirmed by the creative director that deaths are staying the timeline where the group is she's not gonna come back but maybe in the Zack timeline it can be saved since she's only in coma there so she doesn't remain alone.

There was never any real debate. Aerith was always more like a big sis. There was some mutual attraction at the beginning because Cloud reminds Aerith of Zack, and Cloud finds Aerith beautiful and charming because…she is. But the real feels have always been between these two.
No the Og aerith is the love interest but in rebirth it changed trust me Aeirth and Cloud made many cameos in other games Tifa was nowhere.
I think either could have made sense and worked.

Out of all of the relationships cloud has with his friends, Cloud and Tifa have the healthiest relationship and Cloud and Tifa are meant for each other.
It's weird. As a 46 year old, married with two kids, I 100% wanted this moment for them. I am far too emotional about something fictional, but I think thats what makes games great. That connection you make. For me, its just as much as reliving the moment so long ago as anything else. I hope in part 3, they show a moment with Aerith and Zach that captures this feeling. For some reason I need that for her, as her characters past is pretty lonely and extremely sad.
I'm 38 and, as I said in another post, I was able to live this moment without spoilers, playing on PS5, with my wife by my side. Our children were already asleep and she was next to me, doing other things with her laptop, but she was excited to see me so excited about this moment. .

Gonna get this off my chest To all the toxic ass Clerith fans if you seriously try to say that Cloti isn’t canon literally look at the lore the developers themselves even stated that those two were always meant for each other even going so far as to call Tifa Cloud’s sweetheart in Japanese. They’ve also stated that Cloud is more himself around Tifa then he ever is around Aerith. Had Tifa died not even Aerith could’ve brought Cloud back he would’ve totally went insane literally batshit crazy. Tifa means the most to him even more so than Aerith. Did he develop feelings for Aerith? Yes but he was living out Zack’s persona and memories she never really knew who he really was if she did she would’ve known he had feelings for only Tifa. Cuz we all know had Cloud not got captured by Hojo he would’ve moved heaven and earth to find Tifa after the Nibelheim incident. Not to mention he never kissed Aerith that should tell you who he really loves not to mention he almost kissed her in Gongaga something he never came close to with Aerith the developers are telling you something here. As for Zack people can say she moved on all they want but we all know she’d like to know what happened to him and once she sees him alive and well she’s probably gonna reconsider about moving on from him as she missed him dearly. Hell even half the party members ship Cloud with Tifa that should tell you where the developers are headed with this story. Clerith fans also won’t mention that had she not followed Cloud he would’ve continued on to Sector 7 without an extra thought as he was willing to fulfill Elmyras wish of him never talking to her again. In the end Tifa is literally his biggest support and without her he would’ve never gotten truly saved in fact he would’ve lost himself entirely I seriously don’t know how Clerith fans can debate this anymore especially after a kiss hand holding and hugging is cute and all but a kiss has a much more deeper meaning then hand holding ever could. Part of this story is how Clouds relationships develop and if they dont bring the kiss into part 3 via some sort of saved data I just dont understand it here. This scene proof: 1. Cloud love Tifa since the beginning of the story. Cloud kissed Tifa while Aerith still around. That means Aerith's death is also not the reason Cloud and Tifa start developing feeling toward each other in the next game. 2. Cloud's head is so fucked up more than you thought. Kiss not gonna fixed it or make it better (also for the sake of the plot, they won't make it anticlimax). That's why his action toward other members after this chapter not so pleasent to see.

I lived this moment live, without spoilers and without anything, playing it myself. I can assure you that I was moved. My wife was with her computer, next to me. She is not a big fan of the final fantasy saga but she was moved to see me so excited and she recognized that the moment of the kiss was very well designed.

I was literally so ANXIOUS watching Tifa slowly reach out to grab Cloud’s hand bc it seemed like they were going to get interrupted again by SOMETHING, but thank goodness they didn’t!! I can’t believe Square Enix finally gave us an official CloTi kiss!!! It’s literally so perfect how in Rebirth, Cloud is the one to initiate & confirm his feelings for Tifa, and assure her that he does feel very close to her & that she shouldn’t doubt that fact. Also 4:32-4:39, Tifa is literally so beautiful being illuminated by those fireworks. And the way Cloud is looking at her so tenderly!! I’m so happy for them, I can’t even explain it
