Just finished seeing it, and I won't lie, it wasn't an easy one to understand. Here, we see a place called Glorious, which is some sort of private country club/rehabilitation center. The people there are depicted as extremely rich with lavish lifestyles, but with monotone expressions. The director is obviously hinting that such rising fame can lose the value of things in life, leaving little goals or any pursuit of happiness when you can have whatever you want. So, maybe, these rich folks are confined in such sanctuary to find self-awareness of themselves and their future? You also see people mud tanning, working out, and eating salads. This illustrates how current social norms on physical beauty has evolved. The flowers illustrates the shame of a person's guilt in admitting their imperfections. Instead of showing their true flaws, they hide behind an elegant flower, which in many cultures expresses beauty and love. All the characters from the tanner with the neck cast, the woman with her legs covered in mustard, and the bodybuilder express a level of self-consciousness of what they want. The tanner wants to swim but is unable to, because her neck is hurt. So, she spends the rest of her time wading on a pool; a metaphor to being stranded with no goals in life. The woman with legs hallucinates mustard on her legs to show the audience that she has a eating disorder, but refuses to eat to maintain her physique. Then, the bodybuilder continues to work out in front of the pool as a way to grab the tanners' attention, since he believes that looks are more important than personality or character. Overall, Glorious by Foxes tackles the narcissistic view of how society wants us to be, instead of who we are, and how such views can destroy us. Hope this helped and if it didn't, then just watch American Psycho or something...

Perhaps the best POP song that came out in 5 years time. It put all these home studio artists to shame. This is a proper studio mix in comparison. I love the sounds they used.
I actually think the song is about fame. The "Don't give it up, it's glorious" is talking about all the good things you can get from being famous: money, incredible houses, being around beautiful people, etc. But, listening to the rest of the lyrics, it seems that she doesn't want to fall into all that, like she doesn't think it's right or she's still afraid of that world. I don't know, I think it makes sense with the video if that's the case. Either way, it's an awesome song, I love it ♥.

I was one of the first, like, 10 people to watch the video. I was watching the music video to "Echo" when I got the notification on my phone that this video was just uploaded. I absolutely LOVE the song and I LOVE Foxes! However, I am going to have to watch the video a few more times to understand it. Every single song by Foxes never ceased to amaze me. I am a huge dedicated fan now, and I recently bought the new Glorious EP album on amazon... I cannot wait until it comes in the mail!

I remember listening to this song when I was like, 16 years old, and feeling like: WOAH this song is awesome and stuff. But I could never understand the lyrics even though I'd search for its meaning. Now I'm 25 years old and divorced after 4 years of being on a terrible and suffocating relationship where I'd beg for empathy. And every time I had a breakdown because I didn't know what else to do, he'd say: just keep it up, don't give up. And he wouldn't do shit about anything. I'd do my very best and it meant nothing to him. When I was so emotionally drained and exhausted, he'd just say to me to keep doing more and more even though I was broken inside. I remember feeling bad thinking about leaving him: I don't wanna stay, I want to run away. But I was stuck. Suffering and stuck. Sometimes I saw goodness on him... "goodness" and then that tiny spark of faith in my heart would make me stay in the relationship even though EVERYTHING (my body, mind, soul) would tell me to JUST GO! He's no good, he WONT CHANGE! And then one day I noticed that I had nothing to lose because my love for him was already gone and then I left. I did it. Now I kinda understand this song.
Generally, it's always been such an experience for me listening to literally hundreds of songs from my youth, ones that I only listened to for the music, or some I even memorised ALL the lyrics, but never understood them. It's kinda like discovering brand new songs! The same can be said for certain movies too. One of the most incredible examples for me is 'Coolio, C U when you get there' It's the second or third verse in that song... WOW... every young, especially black boy, who has let themselves feel like a victim should listen to that song
