Fliegender Hamburger In 1933 the first German streamlined diesel trainset ran between Berlin and Hamburg: the SVT 877, nicknamed the Flying Hamburger. It was the fastest train service in the world. The 286 kilometers were covered in 138 minutes. The average speed of 124 km/h was only equaled on this route in 1997 by the ICE. The lightweight diesel-electric train set was built by WUMAG after elaborate wind tunnel testing. Both railcars had a Maybach diesel engine, a generator and an electric motor. Its top speed of 175 km/h was limited to 160 km/h in regular service

The max operating speed in Germany is 300 km/h and no TGV goes 300 km/h in Switzerland as well. Pretty sure the max is 250 km/h in the Gotthard Base Tunnel

- max speed in the GBT is 250 but only delayed high speed trains can operate at that very limit. Normally they go 200.

- Yes, thats true, but last Time i drive with an ICE between cologne and Frankfurt was 2007. At this time this beast running 333 Kmh. But now the Speed limit is mostly under 300 kmh.@@vladimirmosimann3807

Record Speed of a German ICE ist 407 kph by an ICE1 originating from 1988 and the Austrian Railjet managed to go as fast as 275 kph in 2008 instead of 230 kph as shown in the video.

Nice video! But in Ukraine Hyundai Rotem (made in Korea in 2012) are not fastest intercity trains. Ekr-1 (Tarpan) intercity electric trains (made in Ukraine in 2010) are faster (limited speed is 200km/h but it can be increased to 250 if high-speed lines are built). Although both trains are good and have dual stream systems 25Kv AC and 3Kv DC (as Ukrainian railways have both electric systems).

5:44 Granted, ČD Class 680 can reach 230 km/h like the Railjet train in Austria. The problem is that ČD Pendolino goes only 160 km/h because there are NO high-speed tracks in the Czech Republic. The ČD Pendolino operates only between Prague and Košice via Olomouc, Žilina & Liptovský Mikuláš. So, there are no tracks that would allow the train to go more than 160 km/h.

Pendolino in Poland "operated" speed should be 200km/h, not 250 (at least not yet as of 2023, there are plans to make it 250 on some sections)

The next technology on the horizon is maglev super train technology. These are trains that run on magnetic levitation. The cho Shinkansen in Japan of course, is currently under construction in Tokyo to Nagoya and then Osaka. The project has been halted due to tunneling issues. But when completed, these modern marvels of transportation will reach speeds of up to 375mph. What a magnificent achievement achievement this will be. Typ in the cho Shinkansen maglev super train and watch the video. Of course this technology is far above the american grade..

Skoda train in Lithuania does not exceed 130km/h while cheching with GPS 122 km/h .The same speed standart 120 km/h does not change for 40 years.

Greetings from Belarus! I'm afraid that trains here can't reach the speed of 160kmh as it is mentioned in the video since the highest speed limit is only 120kmh on our railway network. It also may apply to such countries as Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania etc., however, I am not really sure.
