I'm a very involved member at a cathedral; I worked for 9 years in a different cathedral & have worked in 3 parish churches. • Technically you know an infinite amount of facts, because if you know one fact, you know that you know that fact, which is another fact you know. It's infinite recursion ADDITION: People in the replies bring up a similar point, namely whether or not you have to perform the recursion infinitely to know an infinite amount. Personally (not a philosopher), I think processing and knowing are different things, the following is my reasoning: Let's say you know a fact (e.g. that you exist), which we call fact 0. The fact that you know of your existence is fact 1. That is fact 2, and so on. You know each fact to be true, since it relies on the previous being true. Thus the content of any given fact x is "x-1 is true", which is true. So, x==True. This also means that fact x+1 is also true, since it states that "x is true". For any given number (e.g. 42), you can say that it's true, because it states that the previous fact (here 41) is true. This means you don't have to count up each fact to 42 to know it, since you know what it references, and whether the reference is correct. As a result, you don't have to process each fact, but the amount of facts is the same size as the set of countable positive numbers including zero, which is infinite. To me, since you can confidently answer for any fact what it is and whether it's true, that suffices as knowing it. If you've read this far, keep in mind that I study sustainability management and didn't put much thinking into this, so it's probably wrong at some point. It's fun though! Have a nice day!

So for example, my baby is as born with the skull fused down the middle and very long front to back. The helmet didn’t allow for any more front to back growth but had extra space on the sides so as she grew,the skull rounded out even though the front to back measurement didn’t change.

    @glazomaniac@glazomaniac2 ай бұрын
    • Ohhhh, that makes sense! Dyspepsia was (at least perceived to be) a very common ailment in Europe and the US in the 1800s, as people moved to cities where they took on factory jobs where they were standing or sitting in the same place for hours and often had a more limited amount of fresh produce in their diet.

  • 1:57 actually, Hank, as an engineer, the heater will make the car slightly more efficient because it is pulling the waste heat away from the engine, so with the tiny bit of fuel that is used by the alternator to power the fans, the waste heat being pulled away from the motor will make up for that. The thing that will hurt the fuel economy more when the heater is on is that most people switch it to recirculating air mode, which increases the amount of drag by closing the cabin intake. So, turn on the heater and turn off recirculate!

You probably won't be able to calculate your fuel economy difference either way in most new cars. Older cars have a much bigger difference. Ultimately, though, your comfort will matter more than the couple of pennies you will save, so set your car up to make you happy. :)

  • HOLD UP! Nutritional Therapy here! Q.V. Drinking liquids during a meal SOME folks, and it's more common as we get older after our teen years, have difficulty maintaining a pH low enough to activate digestive enzymes (pepsin/protease) and this can reduce one's ability to digest proteins. Stong stomach acid is also needed to digest minerals. Now with soups, much of the action of the acids and enzymes has been helped along by the cooking process. The minerals are more bioavailable, being at least partially dissolved into the stock, and proteins that are cooked longer in a liquid are more accessible for chemical and enzymatic reactions. But if you're having a rare steak which needs that acidic environment, and you chug a glass of water, you're diluting your stomach acid, forcing the body to *attempt* to reacidify it. Healthy digestion of protein is going to happen between about 1.5pH ~ 2.8pH. At a higher pH than 2.8 your pepsin won't activate very well. Many people with chronic indigestion can have a pH at mealtime that is thousands of times more alkaline than required, which leads to a series of gastric issues. A gastroenterologist can offer ways of testing your stomach pH. So beverages at mealtime are ok in moderation, and small sips are recommended.

  • Vernors was developed by James Vernor (who was the first licensed pharmacist in Michigan) in the 1860s, and it did have actual ginger in it for about hundred years, so it probably did have some medicinal value, but in the 1950s or 60s, they switched to ginger flavor. Nowadays I would guess that it's more of a placebo effect, my mom gave it to me and told me it would help my stomachache, and her mom gave to her, etc.. so it makes you feel better!

    @amandabaker4678@amandabaker46782 ай бұрын
    • Yeah, my mom always gave it to us when we were sick. But she grew up in Michigan in the 50s and 60s, so she probably remembered having the old recipe and really thought it would help. Not sure it actually helped us, but I doubt it hurt, and I do think there was kind of a placebo element that occurred.

  • Lacksmiths can unlock Lambo’s. I have done it. Satellite features don’t work in some parking garages or in valleys where mountains may block the signal. Also, if the battery is dead, the remote services can’t unlock the car. In these cases, you need a locksmith. General Motors’ (Chevy) On Star service has been able to unlock vehicles remotely for at least 10 years and it may be closer to 20 years now, so Lambo is behind the curve there.

  • "You don't mix starches" for some reason, that was an acquired rule of mine that wasn't ever said. My wife is Japanese and she regularly mixes rice with potatoes or some type of noodle. And then I realised I'm french and we have bread with everything and it's just the same thing! lol

  • I've heard their music before but never seen these artists and they are the CUTEST humans ever. Also, I genuinely love how Hank embraces generational differences and encourages sharing knowledge across age groups rather than assuming/acting like younger people are dumb and just need to shut up and listen. One of the things I'm most grateful for about being raised in a smaller city (town?) is that I grew up interacting with people who were much older and then much younger than me and seeing the ways in which everyone could contribute to the community rather than being siloed in by age group at all times. What I'm trying to say is thanks for encouraging intergenerational community, Green brothers!

Also the company that sold you your car added that they can spy on everywhere that you go and sell that info to anyone they like. Cars are scary for all these reasons and more. Happy driving!!!
