One of the most epic fights in a movie. Loved this movie. Jet Li is a legend, just like Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee.

That's got to be the longest choreographed fight scene ever filmed, jesus. This is why Asian movies deserve more recognition.

I love that feint punch combo Jet uses at 10:20. I love the callback when uses it in Kiss of the Dragon too

I love how his eyes are open, but when Jet Li enters, he quickly closes then slowly opens them as if he was meditating the entire time.
A good warrior is one who had truly mastered inner peace. Possessing the right thinking, drawing from it strength knowledge and peace.
Those karate kicks from the general looks so powerful
It`s actually muay thai.
@@andrejlykov6408 they're actually karate kicks. Yoko-geri kekome, and a lot of powerful mawashi geris. Even the knees were not Muay thai knees
Love the fight scene with the belt. Jet Li uses it in other movies. So well improvised and so effective. And the sound effects are awesome when its deployed too.
One of the best fight scenes I've seen in a long time and one of Jet Li's best. Just when you thought the scene was over, there was another fight sequence. Incredible!!!

I loved the matrix movie growing up. After seeing this I can tell where they got the inspiration for their fight scenes. Some stuff in the matrix is almost an exact copy of this.
Same guy choreographed this and The Matrix trilogy, the legendary Yuen Woo-ping. He also did the choreography for Kill Bill, Crouching Tiger/ Hidden Dragon, lots of Jackie Chan movies ( Drunken Master), lots of Jet Li movies ( Tai Chi Master, Fearless) , lots of Donnie Yen movies ( Ip Man 3 & 4 ).

The way he tanks hits, I wonder if Agent Smith’s fighting style from the first Matrix movie was based on him. Much of the Neo Vs Smith choreography is similar to this as well. Edit: Just looked it up and it seems it was. The Wachowskis even purposely hired the fight choreographer from this film to work on The Matrix.
Being able to take a Hit as good as giving one. Karate and Boxing has similar ideology. Jet Kun Do is a Mix martial arts that includes both (as the film was a remake of Bruce Lee "Fist of Fury")
Spot on! I was watching this fight scene and I also thought the matrix fight scenes Neo vs Morpheus (training) and Neo vs Agent Smith in the Metro Station were inspired heavily by this fight scene
If only our Generals were this badass.
Seeing this now I realize how much the Matrix (original) loved these movies. Neo vs Smiths fight is a direct homage to this fight.
So I'm not the only one who thought this. Awesome 😎
A belt is a deadly weapon in the right hands.
Heh, the "picky" thing is that the "Japanese general" is actually played by Billy Chow - A Hong Kong born Canadian kickboxer (with multiple titles won), who is a very close friend to Jet Li as his former pal in Wushu academy.

That fight went 5 minutes longer than it should have. People can not take the amount of punishment to the face that both took. Not even professionals. After 4 or 5 solid hits to the eyes from bald fists, their eyes would become so swollen that they would not be able to see.
@spartanx169x 169of300 True but both Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and martial artists also condition their bodies to take extreme punishment. Watch a clip on how Pacquiao conditioned his ribs using traditional Chinese methods.
