Saul “Canelo” Alvarez dominated Jermell Charlo on Saturday night, dropping the American en route to a one-sided points win in their undisputed vs undisputed fight.
Canelo entered the T-Mobile Arena as undisputed super-middleweight champion, and he left Las Vegas with that status intact after defeating Charlo, the undisputed super-welterweight champion. Canelo won a unanimous decision (119-108, 118-109, 118-109) with the highlight coming in Round 7, as the Mexican dropped Charlo to a knee after landing a hard overhand right.
Canelo, 33, marched down Charlo, also 33, for almost the entirety of the fight - the first to pit two undisputed male champions against each other in the four-belt era - and was unaffected by his challenger’s brighter moments.
Canelo, with his victory, became the first champion to retain their undisputed titles three times.
Canelo Alvarez is still the king and it's going to take more than soothsayers to oust him. Alvarez silenced whispers of his athletic decline, outclassing fellow undisputed champion Jermell Charlo at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday night.
Alvarez played lion tamer to Charlo's lion, humbling a hungry challenger whose eyes were bigger than his stomach. Charlo travelled two weight classes north in hopes of adding a second undisputed title to his collection to no avail.
Alvarez successfully defended his super middleweight championships against the undisputed junior middleweight champ, scoring a Round 7 knockdown and winning nearly every round on the cards. It was the first fight in the four-belt era between two male undisputed champions.

  • Crawford has zeeo chance against Canelo at 168. He will go into survival mode as soon as he feels the power, even a big shot to the arm will make him timid.

    • I agree Bud Crawford is tiny compared to Jermell. The man Saturday night at ring side was small. Crawford is 5'-8" and fights out of the 147lb weight limit there is no way in hell he jumps 3 divisions and beats Canelo at 168. His power and speed wont matter in the fight as it didn't matter with Jermell. He will not be able to hurt Canelo or keep him off of him without getting knocked out. Canelo is just too serious and strong for these smaller fighters. He will be pressed and in survival mode just as Jermell was.

  • How in the same breath is Charlo too small yet Crawford vs Canelo a reasonable fight? It is somehow an excuse for Charlo that he fought the "bigger" man but people are trying to say Crawford stands a chance when he is even smaller in a smaller weight division.

    • It's not and anyone to think otherwise is just being ridiculous. Terence Carwford is much smaller the man is 5' 8" and fights out of the 147lb division he wont stand much of a chance moving up 3 divisions to fight Canelo at 168. If Crawford was smart he keep his ass at 147-154. Canelo is too big and strong for anyone below 160 period. Crawford no matter how good his skills are at 147-154 they will not translate at 168 against Canelo he wont be strong enough to make Canelo respect him. We will see a similar fight as we seen Saturday night. You have to be something kind of special to think otherwise.

  • Canelo short circuited their plan of attack. They clearly wanted to mimic Bivol with timing punches on Canelo's steps and catching him out of punching position. They wanted to stack early rounds and come on strong late as Canelo faded. The problem is that team Canelo fixed these issues by speeding up Canelo's feet and coming in incredible shape. So between neutralizing their game plan and being able to tank Charlo's best shots without even blinking you can see how a guy, who was well out of his depth, could be overwhelmed and demoralized very quickly and decide the only win for him was to stay upright for 12. I happen to think Canelo and crew deserve a lot more credit than Charlo deserves ridicule on this one. I also don't care much for the Charlo's so the less we talk about them the better.

    • Yeah a great analysis most people said charlo didn't use jab enough or just decided not follow th bivol gameplan in reality just canelo being in shape and using his jab more already negated that bivol and artur th big boys will always have the endurance and strength to take canelos best shot I think with bivol with a few adjustments we just saw OK the charlo fight he could win on points trying to jab more and hitting his body more then just his arms since tha doesn't score points bivol simply kept moving and threw a volly of punches to off balance and frustrate canelo but it's clear he never hurt him but artur is gonna try to knock him out that's gonna be a great slug fest I reckon where canelo has a real chance of being finished but of he beats those guys and goes undisputed at 175? That's just difficult and puts him clearly in the GOAT contention and debates

    • That's the problem right there Bivol was stronger natural bigger fighter and a really good defensive fighter at that much better than Jermell. Bivol lost the first 4 rounds against Canelo on all 3 judges scorecards, but won 7 of the remaining rounds to win a decision by only 2 rounds 115-113. Canelo did fade down the stretch in that fight and he wasn't at 100% either the man had hand surgery soon after that fight. Bivol turned it on in mid to late rounds while Canelo slowed down, but Canelo did not take it lying down and put up a great effort. Charlo an undisputed fighter looked as if he was his weakest opponent to date. Ryder did better than him. Hell Saunders, Plant and an older GGG out performed him against Canelo. Jermell had no business at Super Middleweight, he's simply not good enough. Trying to imitate another fighter like Bivol was not a smart game plan because he's not on their level to make it happen. Canelo may have shown other fighters at 154 how to beat Jermell.

You can make alot of 💰🤑💰🤑 fighting Canelo he will just make you PAY for the lost or suffering as Charlo went down in the 7th round with Canelo RED. Tho Charlo had the REACH and more height it did NOT matter to Canelo because the Mexican has a steel jaw, not even Russian Bivol could KO Canelo! I wish Crawford luck if and when fighting Canelo just Canelo always finds a way to get to the head and body regardless of someone's 🚄 🚅 speed.... This is good video coverage... Canelo getting older at 33 , he STILL has some years left we can appreciate him... After 35 ALL the wear and tear will show on any fighter.
