  • Thanks for posting this, mate. it's brilliant Judo and it's also really great to have your calm commentary which allows me to enjoy listening while still concentrating on the fighters. I'm a big fan of Neil Adams and his Judo but I hate his commentaries, they're super intrusive and annoying. Please keep up the good work. Best of luck from the UK.

    • Ono wants to change category? I didn't know that! I'm sure he can handle big guys, he's so impressive, and perhaps he need a challenge to keep going, since I was under the impression he was bored during Tokyo Olympics. A reason why he lost in the team, I think. But I can understand. At first I was happy that the games weren't cancelled, but then, to see the Japanese judokas robbed of the joy of public competition, doing so well in an empty budokan, it was nearly distressfull. Is not the public the reason why I feel like the highlights of the Paris Grand Slam are better that the Olympics? Anyway, thanks @Judo Highlights, I never noticed Sasaki before!!

    @mfp5585@mfp55852 жыл бұрын
    • That's debatable I think, since he defeated Ojitani Takeshi while Ono did not ...in the Japanese open weight competition

      @SunyataCipher@SunyataCipher2 жыл бұрын
    • I was about to say the same thing, he does not look NEARLY as refined as Ono right now. I am wondering if he can be as consistent as Ono for the next 3 years. But he has time, Ono in 2012 wasn't as calm and collected as he is now either. By the way, stylistically, Sasaki is not anything like Ono.

      @jsl8461@jsl84612 жыл бұрын
    • The reverse morote he threw looked pretty refined to me, not to say amazingly refined. I don't know of any other judoka who can throw a reverse morote from that position. And what about his uchi mata counter? He waited for the Mongolian to put in all his strength and then suddenly removed his leg to throw him with zero effort. Simply amazing in terms of finesse. This guy right now is technically as good as Ono in my opinion, and has the strength of a strong 90kg fighter. I think that if Ono goes up to 81, he's gonna lose against Sasaki.

      @JudoHighlights2015@JudoHighlights20152 жыл бұрын
  • The problem with Sasaki is that he's wildly inconsistent. He'll beat the best of the best in the world in one tournament, and then lose to no-name 90th ranked judokas in his next 2 tournaments in the first round. Sasaki can win against anyone, and lose against anyone. There's no consistency to his performance, which is probably why he's rarely chosen to compete at World's, Olympics, Asian Games, etc.

  • Nagase winning the Olympics was a little surprising as he hasn’t displayed the form he did to win world title since winning said title. A quality judoka will always be able to pull something out but I think his Kohai - Sasaki, will likely start seeing more competitions. Fujiwara is largely done now, he also hasn’t really had much form since his world silver.

The first wazari, I also thought it was an ippon until I saw the review: there was a Grigalashvili's final movement to avoid splash his back on the tatami... I though that movement was forbidden, I mean, put all your weight on the neck and rotate... At the end, it was better because I saw some more judo. Thanks.

You can see it at kzhead.info/sun/a6iYpLWqaJeeaI0/bejne.html. There's 3 variants of Korean seoi nage: 1. forward throw version using the baseball bat grip used for korean seoi nage 2. 270 degree rotation, side-ways throwing version (commonly called The Choi). This version will look similar to a kata guruma. 3) 360 degree rotation, backward-throwing version. (this is what most people commonly think of as 'korean seoi nage')
