Yesterday, on the night of May 18th and 19th, two people met in Otkagon, whose names are well known even to those who are not even an ardent fan of fighting without rules. Kevin Lee fought in a fight with a real titan of lightweight and more recently welterweight class - Raphael dos Anjos, third Dan in Brai Jujutsu, who has a very special aggressive style of combat, which emerged from his experience in Muay Thai and exercises Classic boxing since 2017 under the direction of Jason Perejlo.
In the fourth minute of the fourth round, Kevin Lee got his fifth defeat. He surrendered to a not very sophisticated kind of painful hold, which in Sambo or BZH is simply called the "Triangle". The main essence of this method is that the fighter who conducts it blocks the opponent at the same time both the neck and the arms, which makes it almost impossible to get out of such a situation. If you have already allowed yourself to do something like this, it’s better to immediately slam on the ring and cover your face with your hands (so that everyone who knows you, God forbid, do not see your shame right in frame x).
On the preview to the fight Kevin in his classic style, which I would characterize: "Rudeness - politeness of cattle," promised to show the audience a real bloody messivo. Indeed, when you look at his face in the second round, you begin to understand: "But he did not lie."
And so, moving from Kevin Lee's cheerful trolling to an impartial analysis of the duel, the first thing I want to notice is that this time he was really very carefully prepared for the duel. This fight is contrasted with Kevin El Yakvinte, Tony Ferguson or Leonard Santos plums.

However, here he was waited for by the first pitfall in this fight - Rafael dos Anlos - left-handed. Alas, no matter how you prepare, you cannot fight against a left-handed opponent, as you do against an ordinary Orthodox. From the point of view of English boxing, the first snag is that his blows are worse for you and the dominant hand can fly under your jaw at any time, causing you to lie in the ring, count lights and listen to the magic sounds of the judge’s voice, which whispers that unintelligible. Moreover, this story will only begin, on the second day you will be continued in the form of kissing lectures from your “beloved” wife on how to live with a clinical loser.
To avoid this, you need to replay strategically. Behind Kevin’s general strike, there was only one major weakness - monotony. Yes, the quality as a whole is higher, but the methods are the same. It is against such gurus of martial arts as Dos Anos that this is unforgivable.
There is a lot of talk about whether Muay Thai is the most effective style in the rack. As a person who has had experience in many styles, I will tell you with confidence - is not. Masutatsu Oyama was right: "There are no bad and good styles - there are different categories of fighters."
