My top 9 CANCEL CULTURE experiences

So these are the people who have tried to crucify me. That's what it feels like anyway. They have called my employers and collaborators, with accusations, straw man tacticts and calling me names. But I'm still here and I am not going anywhere.

23:34 To all my good Danish friends
Of these nine attempts, six times the people receiving calls did the sensible thing and talked with me about it and it went okay. But three times I ended up being cancelled (# 1, 3 and 9).
If you wonder why some people have tried to cancel me, here's a link to the recent news story which can be translated to English: khrono.no/dna-forsker-mener-h....
Though Cancel Culture isn't good at all and even though I personally despise people who call around like this, I ask that we all refrain from harrasing these people and rather use that old virtue called temperance when dealing with this. This too shall also pass..
Many thanks and let's keep in touch!
Skål from Sturla

  • Look it is completely normal and healthy to reject things that are trying to destroy our people and our culture. My feelings aren’t about hate someone as much as it’s hate of what’s being done. I’ve Over last say 7 years realized a lot, things like, that I have a people, ancestry, deep culture, and much more, and instead of positivity surrounding these discoveries, and feelings, it’s melined with negative. I won’t make any apologies, and and neither should you, keep doing what you’re doing, much love.

To be victorious so often in life, One must need luck to be on our sides every now and then. The vikings had a cool notion of luck...Having much luck in the face of adversity was seen as a great gift, bestowed to those with the courage and sense to maintain a strong mind throughout life. "Luck, often enough will save a man if his courage holds". Beowulf Stay strong and lucky.

  • Very eloquent; and I'm very sorry it's happened to you, Sturla. Sadly, it's an increasingly common story, especially when you are discussing the history of the Germanics, Scandinavians and Anglo-Saxons, etc...And I think we can all have a pretty good guess where that (misguided) hostility comes from: do-gooders who think they know history - 1930s/40s especially - but, in fact, really, really don't. Overzealous, poorly educated people are the scourge of the 21st Century. Even in England I've noticed there has been a fad in academia since about the 2000s to try to argue that English people have virtually no Anglo-Saxon genes. Whilst there must have clearly been a large number of Celtic people, when Anglo-Saxons arrived, who survived; and others who moved to England from Scotland, Wales, Ireland for work or other reasons, the fact is that all the historic, linguistic, place name evidence hints rather strongly at a pretty large migration and displacement. Even Brittany in France - we are told - exists because of the large exodus of Britons from Britain when the Anglo-Saxons arrived. But, in spite of all the above, sometimes you also notice another tendency among academics in the UK *not* to deny the Viking influence (and even genes) especially in the old Danelaw areas. Why? I can only suspect it's because they hold a view of: 'native' Germanics (Anglo-Saxons) bad; 'foreign' Germanics like Vikings and Normans good, because they undermine a 'pure race' ideology (which nobody even subscribes to, but they imagine people do). It's pathetic. Your problem in Norway is that your 'Germanics' are all mostly 'native': therefore, bad.

All hand typed, 535 pages of my family history back to the year 1289, West Agder, Kristiansand. I am the keeper of this document, original and one of 3 or 4 copies ever produced. I'm blessed to have this document. I never met my 2nd cousin, Olav, but I think he must have been guite a man. He passed in 1976, I believe he is buried in the Kristiansand area. The foundation, Strommestiftelsen, is still going strong today. Anyway, sorry you have to deal with these idiots. All the very best to you, kindest Regards, Don Wilson, Tacoma, Washington, USA.

    • That's great! If your line goes all the way back to the 1200s, then that means your connected to our "Ur-adel", meaning the ancient nobility of Norwegians before the Danish "400-year night". My grandfather made a similar book, which we all cherish (his descendants). Cheers

One of the last parcels of our property was sold in 2006. It was part of Stromme Farm (grandfather Johannes Stromme 1881), located in area of Randesund. Holte Farm, Tveit area, was where my grandmother, Tomine Holte, (1883) was from. Both of those areas were in my family for 800 years or more. The last of the Stromme parcels was sold around 2006. Yes, both of our families are very blessed, D. Wilson.

  • It's demoralizing that we've reached a point where we must all consider carefully every word we say, where we say them, and with whom we say them lest we offend someone, somewhere, sometime, or seem to exclude anyone, anywhere, anytime and thus find ourselves in the dreaded role of persona non grata regardless of our actual intentions, context, or even the obvious truth. And oh gods forbid it if we seem to take any pride in our history, ancestors, or country, for then surely we must be elitist racist extremists who need to be shunned immediately and for all time thereafter! What a world... But, more importantly, our ancestors (oh no, I'm going to mention them!) found ways to preserve aspects of our culture and history despite enormous challenges, so it's certainly worthwhile to weather this current climate of perilous pettiness and sanctimonious hysteria in order to honor their dedication and sacrifice, I think. The truth can't be canceled if we all refuse to shut up about it. Hopefully.
