Arshavin was unbelievable in his prime. Great technique, brilliantly two-footed, vision to rival even Fàbregas, and ice running through his veins; the most clinical finisher you'll ever see. It's such a pity that Arsenal couldn't get more out of him.

11 лет уже прошло, помню тот матч как будто было вчера. Хорошая была тогда команда у Арсенала. Жаль, что так ничего и не выиграли.
Тот сезон, часто были провалы в опорной зоне, и периодически косячили вратари. В ЛЧ в ответке на Камп Ноу Ван Перси психанул и пульнул мяч на трибуны, судья был суров - удалил его. Долго держались. Забей тогда Бендтнер выход один на один, заменивший сломавшего палец во время матча Фабиански Альмуния сыграл бы свой Золотой матч за Арсенал. Сделал множество невероятных спасений ворот. АА23 вышел на замену, организовал несколько попыток в атаке, но силы были не равны, один шанс был только у Бенди. Потом еще долго обсуждали слова Арсена Венгера, мол не надо помогать топ-клубам уровня Барсы и Реала.

Аршавин был игроком топ уровня, у него было все скорость, дриблинг, удар, пас, игра обеими ногами, чувство ритма игры и он всегда находил оптимальные варианты, да и реализатор он был хороший, очень хладнокровный. Просто в Европу он попал на закате своей карьеры, когда у него оставалось играть на топ уровне 3-4 сезона. Он их отыграл и отыграл очень хорошо

А если по игровым качествам судить, то не надо сравнивать уровень игры в 2008 и 2024, сейчас футбол в плане мастерства, скорости, организованности на 10 шагов впереди. И конкуренция намного выше. Так что Аршавин сам раком стал бы. Посмотри записи игры Льва Яшина. Он в своё время величайшим был, сейчас его с такой игрой даже в молодёжку Динамо не взяли бы. Нельзя сравнивать игроков разных эпох.

Wilshere could have been a crucial player for Arsenal, such a shame that his injury problem hindered his career. Really missed this side of Arsenal, we had defensive issue but our football style was always beautiful to watch, look at those sharp and quick passing, that is the Arsenal DNA, we have lost it since the likes of Cazorla, Sanchez and Ozil left...

See how most the good players in Arsenal were bought cheap as unknown kids and Arsene Wenger made them Champions League level players then had to sell them due to debts and the horrible ownership. He never changed. What changed is that we got Kroenke in while other clubs started spending billions to compete. Arsene Wenger gave us the Arsenal golden generation in his first ten years and then built us a stadium, kept us competing under a horrible ownership and made FA Cup history. The stadium needs to be dubbed The Arsene Wenger Stadium as soon as the Emirates deal is done. Santiago Bernabeu, Guissepe Miazza and Johan Cruyff didn't do more for their clubs than what Arsenal's Arsene Wenger did to our big family. There's only one Arsene Wenger!

@True Gooner - Come on man, de Jong is going to be an amazing player in a few more years, so there is still quality coming through. Arthur is another one, these are young kids, playing on one of the best teams in the world already. Normally a player like de Jong would have went to Arsenal before ever getting whiff from Barcelona, but after making huge mistakes on Coutinho and Dembele, they've got to make better decisions and buy them before their prices spiral out of control. Klopp's Liverpool isn't successful because of pressing, as a matter of fact they press a lot less then they used to, it's about controlling the game and taking less risks. Look at the numbers, Klopp has changed the way Liverpool play over the past two seasons. They're successful because they have a great defense, a great keeper, and they play smart in possession.

Problem is he dumped his philosophy for "youth".... The invincibles were a great mix of experience, mid career players and a sprinkling of youth....he forgot that and went hardcore youth, you dont win with kids.

That was the last real Arsenal, that we knew from the past. Now it is an average PL-club. Really sad, because they belong to the top. And Arshavin, what a goal.🔥 For me the best Russian player from the last 15-20 years
I think the last "real Arsenal" was when we had Cazorla, Ozil, Sanchez, Rosicky, Ramsey etc. We played beautiful football the Arsenal way with those players.....we can't say that proudly anymore, now we are scrambling goals against Norwich and consider a draw with top teams as victory.

Even as United fan, the away leg still feels like Arsenal were robbed by UEFALONA. 35 minutes to go at Camp Nou, Arsenal going through by 1 goal, and the referee sends Van Persie off for nothing. Only then do Barcelona score and go through. Bendtner even had a chance to put the game to bed but alas.

It’s a shame Wenger burned Arshavin out. He wasn’t a winger. He was a specialist CAM but Fabregas filled the position. He wasn’t good at tracking back consistently, and eventually lose his pace and his fitness fluctuated. Cult Hero though 🔴⚪️
Spot on. Arshavin was such a gifted player yet Wenger played him as a winger and that eventually led to his downfall. Btw Wenger never seemed to balance his squad no proper DM no pacey wingers and no physicality at the later stage of his tenure.
