Ultimate Journal Smackdown! Ghosting Test
Before you buy your next journal, watch as I test all the big-name journals to see how they fare in ghosting and bleeding tests....
The two pens I used for the test: 1) black Zig Clean Color Real Brush, and 2) Red Sharpie Brush pen
The journals (in order of appearance) are listed below, along with the grades I gave them (Zig/Sharpie):
1. Paperblank mini A/C
2. Moleskine mini B-/D
3. Red "Escalada" A-/C-
4. Fabriano "Eco" B-/D
5. Black "Master's Touch" D/D
6. Green HandBook (watercolor) B+/C-
7. Hobby Lobby "Faux PPP" sketchbook A/B+
8. Moleskine 1 (thin paper) D/D
9. Moleskine 2 (thick paper) A/B
10. Dylusions "Ranger" A+/A
11. Rhodia B+/D
12. Brown Strathmore "Visual Journal" (watercolor) A+/A
13. Stillman & Birn Zeta Series A+/A
14. Leuchtturm C-/D
15. Peter Pauper Press A/C
Peter Pauper gets my vote. The aesthetics of the whole journal as well as the nice quality paper makes them a winner. I have 4 now and 2 more on order from Amazon. Waiting for the New Year to start a new journal with one.
Love the three journals with the Victorian look!
Great review
You have such a wonderful way of speaking, it's so calming. I feel like I'm chatting with you about journals while sitting in some cute little coffee shop in France or something, haha! Thank you, I'm definitely going to be looking into the Peter Pauper Press journals, those books are a work of art.
Thank you! :)
Moleskine has been changing their paper quality and downgrading it over the years. The journal from your car may be an old one, when they still used high-quality paper...
Thank you. That was really helpfull
Peter Pauper Press seems really good in terms of bleed through prevention and the covers are very nice. wish they made them with no lines but the lines that are there are faint enough that drawing over them seems like it wont be an issue?
Are you going to make more videos? I hope so!
Yes! Right now I am battling Lyme disease... but I am getting better and will make more videos soon! Thank you for watching! :)
I've used Zigs on thin paper. That must be terrible papier.
That is exactly what the test is for... to show everyone the ghosting of different journaling papers. Thanks for watching!
