In this week's Friday episode, Stuart builds a custom cabinet for their new farmhouse / butler's sink for the chateau cuisine renovation. Patrick and Stuart then have friends Jane and Tony from @notquiteachateaudiy stop by the chateau to help with the sink plumbing and the final installation.

I was greatly impressed with your skills converting the storage cabinet to under sink cabinets. Great job. Good choice to get a knowledgeable person to do the plumbing. My dear hubby tries and tries, and I still have to call the plumber to get it water tight. Some things should stay with the pros.

Hi Stewart, nice carpentry. I’ve never said, this before, but you’re an identical twin to my Uncle Henry. You’re going to laugh... I’ve been watching you all of this time and I fade in and out of reality between watching Uncle Henry and you. It’s really a crazy mind spasm. BTW: Uncle Henry was very good to me. Good morning Patrick & Stuart, kitchen seems to be coming along very nicely. Building the unit for the kitchen sink worked out splendidly! In fact your carpentry is so good you could have built the complete kitchen yourselves!! Time is of the essence but all said and done, you could have done it. Now, are you finishing off the kitchen and then tackle the bathroom or ..... It is very frustrating to go shopping for goods needed and the assistants in the Stores are not helpful enough. Some sales do go out their way to advise and help but, oh dear, no wonder they close their businesses. Wishing you well with the upcoming venture, just be patient and persevere. Great to have reliable friends like Tony and Jane, bless them. Happy renovating, happy days, kind regards.

We will finish the kitchen but we already have started the bathroom renovation. That means or…… 😊😮. Wall tiles in the kitchen - that’s me. We have to wait for John to come back from the UK for the last bits of electrical work. 2 more cabinets and the wait for the cooker. We are essentially in the end stretch. Customer (non) service is hard for me to understand. Customers pay the salaries……. So wouldn’t I want customers to come back? 😮😂😮 Jane and Tony are just wonderful. I love the brass cover of the dishwasher. In the Netherlands your faucet is common. Next project is looming. Glad you received the package. Still trying to get seeds or bulbs of the eustoma/lisianthus plant. If you search on internet you will recognize the flower. If you want seeds or bulbs you can't get in France please let me know. Love the new sink......cruddy instructions and all! I have a triple sink in my kitchen and also a sink in the island! After living in Moscow for five years and using a sink the size of a plastic dishpan, no dishwasher......I wanted sinks! We spent a few years in another apartment was well and it had been newly renovated. That Moscow apartment also had NO shutoff valve under the kitchen sink. The only shut off valve for the entire flat was at the taps on the bathtub, but you had to push your arm between the bathtub and the sink cabinet, then contort your arm to make a 90 degree turn to the right and grasp the valve to shut it off. One day, about 2 weeks after moving into this newly renovated apartment, I was running the dishwasher and I heard water running and then saw steam pouring into the hallway! The hot water pipe had come undone and hot water was spraying all over the kitchen. I quickly grabbed a plastic trash can and tried to capture some of the water, but the pipe was so hot, I could not hold it. I rant to the bedroom to get a tube sock of my husband's and managed to tie it to the hot pipe and then direct the pipe into the trashcan. After a few minutes, I left the flooding kitchen and tried to turn off the water valve behind the bathtub.....no luck. I then decided to call my hubs at work and scream for help! Foolishly, I decided to open the window in the kitchen to let some of the steam escape as it was like a sauna in there. The air outside was very cold and all I did was create more steam!!!! By the time my hubs and his driver showed up, I had so much mascara running down my face from tears and steam, I looked like Tammy Faye Baker. I had not seen this sweet driver, Sergei, since we had arrived back in Moscow about a month earlier, so we had a great laugh! Hubs got the water valve turned off and them I started mopping up the ankle deep water that had left the kitchen and spilled onto my wood parquet floors in the hallway and living room. Then, we needed to address the neighbors beneath us and maybe the neighbors beneath them! Oye, oye, oye, what a mess! Seems funny now but not at the time. So, YES, every water source in the chateau needed a shut off valve. End of this saga.! Stuart's sink looks great and like it has always been there! Cheers!

He kept his word! I did not get burned, thanks to the ugly tube sock! What a fashion flop those things turned out to be! Only good for plumbing emergencies! HA! Stuart you have amazing cabinetry skills! Great carpentry on the sink cupboards, they look as professional as any bought ones. I love having the large sinks/basins too Patrick and mine has done a great service for the last 29 years! Jane and Tony are true friends and it’s wonderful to be able to help each other. I would also loved to have sent something for the time capsule but didn’t know what to send. Can you please give a clue as to what others have sent besides a card or letter? I have made and gifted time capsules for newborns by enclosing newspapers etc from the day of their birth and coins from the same year where possible, but not sure what you may like for your kitchen capsule. Loving the new kitchen....👏🥰

People send such diverse items. A mini quilt from Denmark, a small bottle of wine from Australia. Coronation coins from the UK, postcards from Liverpool and Holland of the town supporters live in, newspapers, a pot holder, wonderful letters from people describing why they watch or channel and that it helps to renovate the chateau.
