Well as the title says this weeks video is extremely satisfying so sit back relax and enjoy as a transform this old and scabby black top SR20 cam cover into a gorgeous NEO VVL cam cover.
So the first job was to get the cover all cleaned up by washing it in the parts washer to remove all of the old oil and carbon deposits that had built up not to mention all the grease and dirt that was on the outside too. After drying the cover off it was taken into the spray booth and covered in paint stripper to remove the original paint finish one this had done its work it was cleaned and dried once again.
Then it was into the media blaster to blast the surface back to clean metal as there was a lot of corrosion lurking in the crevice's, I used garnet for this process. After blasting it was then over to the work bench to heat and remove the vent pipes from the cover this is a fairly easy process as long as you heat the cam cover up to a suitable temperature for it to release from the steel pipes.
I then loaded the cover into the booth again this time for a coat of etch primer followed up by 3 of high build so that i can flat back any defects. While the primer was curing i set about cleaning up the vent pipes with the sketchy bench grinder ready for a fresh coat of zinc to protect them from corrosion, i went for a clear passivate rather than the standard yellow as i feel the silver tones in better with there rest of the colors.
Once the zinc plating was done it was time to wet flat the primer in preparation for the cam covers fresh coat of metallic blue paint, it got 5 coats of blue for a nice deep finish and then was removed from the booth so that i could clean up the lettering and apply the OEM finish again. The cover was then put back into the booth and clear coated for that ultra glossy finish.
Then it was simply a case of re-assembling the cover and applying my custom made NEO VVL plate.
So anyway I hope you enjoy this little restoration and will join me again next time for another fun filled project.
Enjoy

The stop motion reminded me of George's stuff. Soup Classic Motoring, if people are unaware. Nice work, as usual.
Love his stop motion stuff, it must be so tedious setting up all those shots as I know how long my little intro took.
Fantastic job (as usual) ! And the stop motion at the beginning is just amazing.
Thank you so much 😀
Checkout Soup Classic Motoring if you want to see more stop motion goodness 👍

So much blasting it went dark outside! Great job as usual 🏴🏴
Haha yeah believe it or not the shots were only about half an hour apart but the rain clouds rolled in and made it super dark it rained for the next 6 hours constant :(
@@RRCRestoration full credit to you for setting up all those shots and angles, fantastic work space👍👍

Getting very creative with the editing lol, great work!
Grand job. Really like the colour.
Thank you, I do too i cant stop looking at it lol
You do some amazing work buddy. I really enjoy this channel. You don't waste time, you get to the point and show all the best parts. Although we all love to watch a little more of the sand blasting lol. But it's cool with me. Well done
Nice work. I need to find your secret paint stripper formula.
Hey mate awesome work as always!! I saw your post on Patreon about the algorithm and I gotta agree, i used to open youtube and your vids were right there. Now I often have tosearch for themeven though im subscribed and like and comment on most vids. Its perplexing and frustrating. Im sorry you arent getting more of the attention you deserve. Your work is second to none. Hopefully the situation improves. Cheers mate
Hey buddy, Yeah it really is frustrating I even went as far as to contact google to see what is going on and basically what I got told was it is what it is 😞 so I don't even think they have control of the algorithm anymore. What I don't get is how I can have 500k subs and my last 7 videos haven't even topped 100k views? its so annoying.
Brilliant job. You have a brilliant skill 👏
Thank you :)
Love your videos! I hope you keep doing them!
That is really impressive how the cam cover turned out! And your editing is perfect the stop motion is funny.
The BEST transformation
Thank you :)

Loved the opening sequence with the cheeky cam cover sneaking in! Excellent work, as always, and a pleasure to watch. The sketchy bench grinder always make me cringe! Those fingers won't grow back y'know...

What an amazing difference!!
Thank you :)
One…..two……three…….there you beeeeeee👍 PERFECT. Hoooo hummm lol
Great work well done 🙂👍🏻
Thank you :)
Nice job 👍 I have dug a comment, which may not be as positiv. On the interior of that Cam Cover, there is a plate and a lot of space between the caver and the plate. As you have sandblasted the cover, it's impossible that sand and small sand particles have not finde there's way exactly in that big "cavity". The same will the will the engine oil do, and than will find a way to the moving parts of the engine. Is that good? Not so much. 😟
Great stuff. Watched it twice ;)
Great work, very satisfying to watch, best part was wire brush cam! 😄
Thank you so much 😀
Great Job as always! 🙌🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🙌

Almost too nice to disappear under a hood, maybe just a acrylic window would be nice... 🤣👍👍👍 Too bad, these days they won't make any nice things like that, just covering the motor in plastic lids... Great job, thx for showing!
