Julian Alvarez truly deserves it. It is intensely close. Both deserve the award. My call is messi by the incredible performance in the world cup. He scored in every single match at least one goal and provided breath taking assists and his over gameplay was unmatched. He also had a good season at PSG tied for top assist stats in Eurpoe with De Bruyne and Griezman while also scoring a decent amount of goals. Halland was a goal Machine in a great and well rounded team, but not much else. I feel like it's going to be Messi because of his world cup performance. Some people might say that E.R or K.D.B deserve it because of their performance in the Champions League and while they may not be wrong, people have to remember that the world cup happens every four years and that it is the most important soccer tournament in the world. Due to this, I think it will play a significant role in who wins the Ballon D'or and since Messi had a much better performance than K.D.B and since E.R wasn't even in the tournament, it leads me to believe that Messi has the best chance of winning the Ballon D'or.

Halland was a goal Machine in a great and well rounded team, but not much else.
