Nessa Barrett "lovebomb" Official Lyrics & Meaning | Verified

2023 ж. 18 Қаң.
185 873 Рет қаралды

For TikTok star-turned-singer-songwriter Nessa Barrett, her latest hit “lovebomb” is a way to spread awareness about borderline personality disorder-something she herself struggles with. “I wanted to share another light to the word ‘lovebombing,’ because it has such a negative connotation to it,” Nessa Barrett tells Genius. “But I feel like people with borderline, specifically, use lovebombing as a way to say ‘sorry’ because they really feel bad.”
Produced by Evan Blair, “lovebomb” appears on Barrett’s debut 2022 studio album, 'young forever.' Since its release, the song has racked up over 7 million streams on Spotify alone.

  • Hey i have BPD too! It's a real struggle. Got diagnosed six years ago RIGHT after I left for college. It's nice to hear someone else with the same issues verbalize their own experience with the symptoms. "Splitting" is so painful, not only for the people around you, but it hurts so much physically to go through an episode.

  • by far my favourite song on the album. even from the first line “don’t even remember how it started” and “i can’t drop the gun” the blackout/rage and knowing that once it starts you can’t stop.

  • Her voice just gives me chills. Every time I listen to this song, I end up crying one way or another. I don’t exactly relate to it in the way Nessa wrote it because I know she has BPD and I don’t but I’ve found my own interpretation in a way whilst also appreciating hers. I’m glad she’s comfortable sharing her experiences with us. It’s very important to break the stigma around mental illness, especially ones like BPD. Like I said before, I don’t have BPD but I have struggled with severe anxiety basically my entire life, it’s gotten in the way of not only my social life but my entire life; the way I interact with people, the way I carry myself. A lot of the time, I feel like I’m constantly hurting people and doing a disservice to everyone around me. When she talks about lovebombing, it makes me think of all of those times I’ve done things for people so they would forgive me even though they were never mad at me in the first place. It’s a never-ending feeling of intense guilt. Whenever my moods get out of hand, I can’t blame anyone but myself so that part really resonated with me. I wanted to thank Nessa for making such a meaningful song that can reach and hit many people everywhere. I may not know exactly what she’s going through but I’m proud of her and appreciate her for providing those songs for people who will see themselves in them, also for expanding my knowledge on it. I can’t wait to see her on March 22 and to hear this beautiful song live. 🤍

  • Awesome interview! Lovebomb is such a great song not only for people having manic episodes and has trouble communicating it afterwards but also helps explain these events to the loved ones on the receiving end which at times leaves us clueless and frustrated. Proper Communication and Understanding each other is definitely key and this song will help heal a lot of similar relationships.

  • As someone who also has BPD i find this song so helpful in explaining to those who i love the most that when I’m in an episode the things i say are just me trying to explain how badly i hurt. I love how open Nessa is about the not so pretty sides of BPD because i feel like most people with it aren’t. Like Nessa when I’m in an episode I tend to throw things too just to get across how I’m feeling. It’s amazing to be able to relate to someone like Nessa because when you’re in these situations you feel so alone but in reality so many other people struggle very similarly and we’re in this fight together❤

  • This put into words what I go through daily. I have borderline and bipolar, and I find myself love bombing all the time. The funny thing is, if you have one of these mental disorders you truly do mean every word you say in the lovebomb because you hate how much you hurt others when you’re in an episode. So many people are like you use the words i love you too much and I’m like no I genuinely mean it when I say it. I just say it a lot because I feel like I need to so the ones I love don’t think I do not love them. with borderline, you feel emotions at least three times more strongly than an average person so even sadness and love are over the top.

  • she's so cuuuute! Her voice makes me giggle like an idiot omg. Also, she's so real with her mental health, and I also struggle with depression, social anxiety, anger management, relationships, and honesty. This is real; it happens to so many people. Nessa really gives people like me hope when dealing with these problems, because it's almost like a safe-space where you know you aren't alone, because even stars like Nessa (so many other obviously, as well) go thru this crap. Cheers to those who embrace their challenges and acknowledge their mistakes as well. XO

  • Omggg I have BPD too!! I've always felt so connected to Nessa's songs because they're so honest, genuine and heartfelt but I had no idea fully why and I didn't know she has BPD too. This makes a lot more sense and it makes me feel so much better that I'm not the only one (especially to know that even celebrities have BPD, so we all struggle.) But it doesn't make us bad people. Yes, there are comments sometimes about us being "manipulative" and "toxic" and that we "should be avoided" and that hurts because we're really not doing this on purpose. It's just there is so much negativity and trauma sometimes people cause us and it's hard to cope with it and be strong and in control. I don't like when people say that we exaggerate emotions a lot more than other people because it sounds as people claim us as the biggest problems. It's not fair. We might be more sensitive but it doesn't mean we exaggerate. Us taking things more to heart shows that we do have that heart and that we're human and we cannot give out love if we receive hate or negligence. The things that make us angry and hurt and sad are the true reasons. It's just that people don't see them as reasons because society tends to minimize the important things. They disregard others' feelings because it's inconvenient to them, and sometimes the friends we think we have are true only support us in good times. Once bad times come they leave us, or ghost us. We dont dramatize, it's the society that's being ignorant. Thank you so much Nessa for making me feel understood and supported. You're not only a talented artist but an amazing, genuine-hearted person. The world needs more people like you. Thank you for what you do and I love u so much. 🤗❤🙏🎵🎶🎸🎹🎙️
