    • Indeed. He did a raw pov paddle out at Wiamea and was "turtle rolling" his gun under some huge foamy walls, pretty impressive. That was last winter, check it out if tou get a chance.

  • surfers can appreciate this and know the feeling of paddling out in those conditions. one needs to be in top physical shape; endurance, cardiovascular, to deal with such conditions. just knowing how to surf or even being a good surfer is not enough. waves look small with gopro but are much bigger in reality.

  • Wow that was impressive how quickly you got in. I'd rather snap my board than my leash on huge days because at least I have something to float on. I'm at the age where I'd be on the beach most likely though lol.

    • I think the super dramatic music in the old videos diminishes it. I def prefer raw vids. I like pov for the paddle aspect but the way it makes 20 foot waves look just overhead is pretty whelming.

  • You're that big grom who hunts the inside tweeners between 1st and 2nd reef. I love that approach because it means you know the exact wave you're hunting and looking for. Only problem is getting rolled by a big 2nd reef bomb and snapping your leash. But like the true water dog you are, you bodysurfed the whitewash in quick fast.

    • @@ponolovefarms3926 I don't know for sure, but heard him talk about first big explosion where lip hits, then a break, then the white water turbulence. He might've stopped to stay in the break, while paddling and duckdiving forward would take him too close to where the lip hit? But I've no idea really, hoping someone more knowledgeable can weigh in.

  • Doesn't take long for Pipeline to collect her dues. Make a great ride, feel pumped that you tamed the beast, and she immediately unloads an entire 2nd reef's worth of wave energy on you for the effort. Feast or famine as the saying goes. (sound effect) NF bolt leashes, made for charging :) maybe like a hawaii five O type jazz big band surf theme type jam for the commercial :) or maybe whatever you want, except maybe not ye olde barber shop quartet / banjo / ragtime or celtic jams, unless they are playing something 'surfy', like the hawaii five 0 theme type jam, of course :)
