You know it’s funny when you realize that during this whole explanation, ichigo was basically just bragging about how strong he was at full strength.
True, but it was accidental bragging. He wasn't boasting so much as he was saying "Hey come on, don't make fun of me while I'm recovering" without realizing just how big a deal the very concept of him not being at 100% right now was.

it's even funnier when you realize he isn't bragging he just thinks his level of power is normal because he has been fighting captain level threats the entire time he has had his powers, but he has lost to those under his level of power primarily due to the same lack of experience, he thinks he's average
well, not his fault at this time not given enough knowledge by his father upon his roots but he did pretty well understanding his power by himself
@@reynaschwartz8296 well he's also relatively new to all this so it's not like he has years of training under his belt to know how to do things efficiently. he's more or less blitzing everything and hoping he's good enough in the moment. lets look back. he had slight basic training when he first got his powers, training under urahara, then training to get his bankai and then hollow training which was probably cut short before heading into hueco mundo. it's why his fighting style is very basic. had he more time he'd be mixing things up and using his hollow powers better instead of using it as a power boost. i always thought it was weird how he didn't adapt that wild style of fighting his hollow side had but looking at it now it would have required a level of confidence and training ichico just did not have.
I’d like to point out that Unohana, who is definitely one of the most powerful captains, not just the most skilled, said that less than half of Ichigo’s spiritual pressure at this point in time was equal to her at full strength, assuming he was fully healed. She’s not just concluding that he’s surpassed most captains, but that he’s truly absurd - much like Aizen and Yamamoto.
At this point Ichigo has so much Reiatsu he is the onky one able to sense transcendent Aizen, meaning he only falls short to Bankai Yama, Gin Bankai(Ichigo is stronger but he was limited by his fear) and Aizen.
You also have to consider that unohana is suppressing herself greatly

@@tatocezar1 Also needs to be pointed out now that according to the most recent episode of TYBW, Ichigo's bankai-less state after being fully healed is so great that even without a zanpakto he is effectively strong enough to give a minor injury to the weakest member of Squad Zero reflexively and with minimal effort. Meaning he has at minimum surpassed all of the 13 Squads in raw power, since the weakest Squad Zero member is stronger than Old Man Yama. Imagine how busted he is gonna be once he powers up and gets a reforged weapon.
Unohana's eyes flickered fast. For someone extremely composed she is really shaken by the amount of his reiatsu. She is a notorious madwoman who loves fighting other swordsmen to the death in her early years. She learns healing technique just to prolong her f duels. Ichigo has made such a feat that shaken the very woman who first f held the title 'Kenpachi'. If she does not set her eyes on Zaraki she might just set Ichigo as her target.

I like how Unohana dismisses Ichigo saying that his spiritual pressure wasn't at full strength as him making excuses for not making a proper path, but the moment Ichigo says that his cloak is connected to his bankai, and therefore a reflection of his spiritual pressure, she immediately starts listening at 1:11 because she realizes that makes sense.
And then later is like “Oh shit….”

@@marcusj17 True. Although he did get better after training with both Zangetsus, and training with Squad Zero. But still, compared to all those millennial beings, he is amateur even after it. And all of his training sessions were never extensive, it was small sessions here and there, of like a week or such. So he is pretty amateurish compared to most of the cast, even by the end of the manga, at least skill wise.

I like how this wasn't a surprising revelation in the sense that he just did something jaw dropping, but that it felt creepy af to Unohana, and effectively to the audience that running behind her was some kind of freak of nature.
After this scene Unohana makes Ichigo run in front of her After we find out more about Unohana this scene changes in perspective as Unohana was actually an extremely bloodthirsty fighter as the Kenpachi and finding that about Ichigo probably is the same reaction as Kenpachi finding a worthy opponent

Unohana was not freaked out or scared of Ichigo. Rather, she came to the shocking realization that Ichigo was a new trump card against Aizen. Aizen eclipsed any other Shinigami in terms of pure power, having at the very least twice the reiatsu of a captain. Unohana witnessed Aizen strike down Hitsugaya instantly, and was calculating their chances of winning were slim. But right after this scene, she restores Ichigo to full power, thinking to herself he was the key to defeating Aizen, since he has the power to challenge him, and most of all had not yet been put under Complete Hypnosis.
It wasn't just that Ichigo was freakishly strong. Yamamoto is also freakishly strong. It's that Ichigo is freakishly strong and he's unaffected by Aizen's illusion techniques. Illusions that make it impossible for anyone else to fight him. Ichigo was the trump card she didn't know they had.

@@0xp556 Ichigo wouldn't have been effected. Back in the Soul Society arc, Ichigo touched (rather was cut by) Aizens blade before Aizen had cast Complete Hypnosis on him. It's literally the only way to not be effected by it. Also, Ichigo's innate power is that he can defy/break fate. Rather, that's his theme.

This makes so much more sense with what white said when facing byakuya. Ichigo was being crushed and restrained by his cloak. Wrapping himself in his own power was too much for him.
Is that why it looks so ragged at the edges? Because of the power being compressed into a shape that can't really contain it maybe?

One Thing that I realized after watching this scene was somthing that was mentioned somewhat early on by one of the captains (don't know the name right now). It mentioned that all Bankai are larger in size than Shikai or the normal form of a Zanpaktu. But Ichigos looked like it got smaller in size which the captain couldn't believe and in turn didn't believed at first it was realy a Bankai. Only the Power boost it gave Ichigo convinced him it is one. And now with this pointed out that old statement is true again. Ichigos Bankai in fact grows bigger than his Shikai. Its just that the Blade itself gets smaller but his clothes are part of the Bankai so in reality it grows bigger. Just not in a way most who know a few things about Bankai would realise at first.
Yeah Byakuya roasts him for his tiny bankai and calls it fake, then after realizing it isn't fake tries to cope by calling it a gimmick that makes him really fast by compressing its size.

I love this scene so much, it displays how much big of a deal Ichigo's true nature as a being in the Bleach universe. It also makes sense that him being 'fully healed' with his reiatsu at this stage would still lack considering Old Man Zangetsu's influence at the time. Which is why the progenitor of Quincies afraid of his incomplete bankai at the TWBY arc and destroyed it immediately, as imagine what could possibly be this hybrid be capable of doing in that incomplete bankai state, not to mention if he reaches his full potential (i.e. mastering it since that time he had just unlocked it via Yhwach's influence).
He could probably get to the Soul King's level in time, especially if he still has the final Getsuga Tenshou in his back pocket. At the very least, he's well beyond the strongest of the Gotei past and present, except maybe Aizen, and he probably is on a level where he can take on Ichibei.

A true estimate for his powers besides the cloak is his hollow powers we only see his Quincy powers through him staying normal and calm while in soul reaper form but the hollow has never taken an L before not a single battle that with it constantly being suppressed

His Quincy powers activate automatically that's why he's tougher than most person, his blut automatically activates to strengthen him in random cases when he is really in danger. Also his Hollow is basically his true bankai activating that's why it's literally stronger than anything else. Just remember his Hollow and Bankai is literally the same it's just separated that he has to use hallow mask cuz he doesn't want to accept it yet, that's why in fullbringer arc when he goes bankai he never needs to use hallow mask since it's fully integrated with his bankai.
Ichigo using his head non-literally is a rare luxury in Bleach.

The reiatsu(at his max, currently)being talked about is only a small amount that leaked out after old man zangetsu sealed his shinigami powers. Think of it like nauto using Kurama's Chakra before before naruto met bee.
Once his Hollow, Shinigami, AND Quincy powers all meld without conflict thats when we begin to see Ichigo's outright disturbing levels of power in the series. And at least in manga it was enough to make Yhwach actually worried and retcon the situation.
@@thomasallen9974 The manga clearly stated that ichigo at full strength at least rivalled if not eclipsed Ywach in strength after he absorbed the soul kings strength making ichigo in terms of reiatsu the most powerful entity in bleach world building, that´s why ywach needed to break his bankai and ichigo was strong enough to overpower ywach he just couldn´t circumvent his gamehax allmighty abilities wich rendered ichigos direct strength useless. That is why hell arc is going to hard to write if it ever appears because 10 years in the future not only should ichigo be basically invincible at this point at least only entities like yamamoto should stand any chance at all against him, he should have mastered his bankai and have become even stronger than against ywach. The usual build up where ichigo struggles his way through increasingly powerful enemies shouldn´t be a thing anymore, meaning they have to pull a jujutsu kaisen and somehow seal ichigo away for most of the story until the endgame.

Urahara already stated what Ichigo lacks. It is just battle experience. He already has all the rest to defeat any enemy.
its not battle experience he is lacking. its control over his own power that he lacks. during the majority of the series he cannot control his reiatsu only after his time in the soul palace he is at best at basic levels of control over it. and it makes sense shinigamis spend hundreds of years practicing and getting to know how to manipulate there reiatsu and power while ichigo has martial arts training and street fighting when he was younger to now and barely scraped on what he can do.

I mentioned this on a different video, but this scene makes Ichigo v Ulquiorra that much more terrifying. Vasto Lorde Ichigo ripped apart one the strongest Espadas with less than half of his reiatsu. Can you even imagine the violence and destruction of VL Ichigo at peak reiatsu?
Given that at 1/5 power he was generating nuclear explosions? I don’t thing ANYONE can imagine it.

I mean c'mon, Ichigo's main attack method is just hurling waves of pure reiatsu at his foes, and he does this repeatedly with little to no drawback, wouldn't that clue them in that maybe if he can throw such massive attacks on the regular which are just solidified reiatsu, that maybe he has gargantuan reserves to allow him to do so? Pretty sure outside of the elemental Bankai, no other character in the series can just hurl and forget that much reiatsu on the fly (Quincy don't use their own reiatsu, they absorb and convert reishi from their surroundings, not the same thing).
Aside from the banger just notice when you play the video the background music keeps you in suspense, that's how we are made to watch hundreds of episodes in shonen and feel like its fast

That would be true for sure, if he cared about that. As you are about to start seeing in TYBW anime, Zaraki is about to go through a character arc and the fight rn is only half of that. Wont spoil what the other half is.
I mean that would be entertaining but that's not at all how the title works so that wouldn't make much sense. If that were the case then the title would just get passed around the captains every time a stronger one showed up since characters like aizen, yama, and Ichigo are all stronger at various points. It's really just a title for squad 11 that gets passed on after someone makes a challenge for the Capt spot and kenpachi title. So it really has nothing to do with who is strongest in the soul society.

Unohana probably had a lot of things to think about, particularly by this revelation. Because it made sense. Take into context of his clothing being a part of his power and realizing that it being barely half-fixed still placed him as your equal? And not mention knowing about Ichigo's power now, that this isn't even 1/10 of what he's actually capable of? Like damn, puts a whole new perspective on power scale.

I mean to be fair, Ichigo was already on par with a Captain before he even started his Hollowification training. It only makes sense that after everything he's been through since the Soul Society Arc up until this point would put his Reiatsu off the charts

I remember everyone was skipping on this scene. This is the proof that Ichigo is the only other Chinigami aside from Aizen with a double captain reiatsu.
There is a big difference between a chinigami power level and their reiatsu. For example, Ichigo and Aizen have more reiatsu than Yamamoto, but both of them pale to him in term of output power! This is mainly due to experience and the nature of the Zanpakuto.

This hinted that he was NEVER using his full powers, that something is hindering his abilities to fully utilize it (1/3 of his Shihakusho equals a Captain but the path is still sloppy, his full Shihakusho means vast Reiatsu but he could never perform that well) and Unohana, being not only one of the most powerful but also most experienced in both fighting and healing, realizes his potential right here, she couldn't explain how and why because she had no idea he was a hybrid, but she instantly realizes that he has hidden powers of his own
It's very simple: Ichigo's reiatsu is whatever's needed at the moment. It's why Kubo kept creating more and more reasons for why he was randomly being nerfed. Oh, he's lost his resolve. Oh, his "Hollow" is interfering with him. Oh, his badge is interfering with him. Oh, "Zangetsu" is interfering with him. Damn, imagine if he was just allowed to stay at a given level once he reached it, without being suddenly nerfed. He probably wouldn't need his latest power up to win every single fight he's ever in. Maybe even not struggle against enemies weaker than the ones his weaker allies are fighting.

to be fair, male fanservice is very much needed. I mean not necessarily in bleach, bleach does it a good amont, especially in filler episodes, but in general. typically we get female fanservice and I'll be honest. 9/10 times it is too much. Here i think it would have been fair to maybe make Ichigo's abs a bit more detailed. just as fair play for the female fans (or any other fan that likes guys)

In pure swordplay I think she even beats yamamoto. yamamoto just pulls out way ahead because his banki and reiatsu is just on another level. also she kinda got unlucky with a banki that doesn't do shit vs these other hax bankis

I think this is the moment unohana knew it was time for her to give kenpachi her title because she knew she was no longer needed.
I've always been pretty confused with ichigo's sloppy reiatsu control. Reiatsu is the result of controlling one's reiryoku, the higher your control of your reiryoku the higher amounts of reiatsu you can output. So why does ichigo struggle with controlling some reiatsu made abilities like that path when having higher amounts of reiatsu is equal to having very good control over your reiryoku which is oftentimes the result of meditating and shit. Not to mention that ichigo's not bad at controlling reiatsu most of the time, he's pretty bad at making a path but he's *very very* good at using getsuga tenshou, which requires very good reiatsu control. It's an ability that has similar mechanics to quincies using reishi to condense it and strike from a single point but instead of reishi ichigo uses internal reiatsu. Ichigo is a very weird man.
Well ichigo is a quincy too ( no spoilers cause the manga finished 10 yrs ago) so he passively absorb a lot of reishi, especially while in seireitei ( with many high lvl captain) that he does not realize. So he absorb all these reishi without knowing the control of it. A regular shinigami like Unohana does not absorb much, so she has to train for higher spiritual pressure. Of course after thousand of years training and controlling kidou as a healer, Unohana can make a clean path Ichigo is only a 16 yrs old child with all these fluctuating spiritual pressure absorbed as a secret quincy, so obvi he cannot have the nuance of making a clean path like experienced Unohana Honestly, i blame ryuuken for not telling him stuff, Ryuuken knew a big battle was coming, so at least for the sake of saving the world, he could tell the child of his old flame something
@@bluesteye1991 Nothing was ever really said that ichigo was constantly eating reishi from his surroundings, though I do kinda like that theory it's not very plausible. Because if he was absorbing reishi pasisvely then we would have seen buildings, houses, items and stuff breaking down in soul society whenever ichigo goes near them. Everything in soul society is made up of reishi. Also even though tybw was released for quite awhile now, it's still not reason for you to not put in spoiler tags because it's just common courtesy, not many read the manga and seeing as bleach is gonna get a new anime about tybw, spoiling it for other who didn't read just because you already did and you think everyone should have read it it is just a dick move.
Ichigo's control was explained during the Substitute Arc. Back when he and Uryu fought the Menos. It was also explained when other Soul Reapers saw his massive original sealed sword. Getsuga Tensho is an extension of his soul, his first time using it he didn't even know the name. It's different from kido and other universal techniques. It's a massive single output of energy, that makes it easier for him that smaller techniques. It's the same concept as Naruto's Shadow Clones and Rasengan.

The "container" essentially grew with the contents. *Light Spoiler* Also, remember the "soul ticket" concept? His energy got so massive and his control was so poor that he was a threat to the living world's balance. In TYBW he trains the balance in his soul which gives him more power through control.
