After a little over two months the Dora Lynn is finished! I bought this sinking boat to use as my crab stand. It has taken a ton of work to get it to this point, but it's finally done! I had to sand, paint, and build a bunch of stuff on it. It's time to place it in it's permanent spot on my crabbing stand lot.

You've created a landmark. People will be giving directions: "Just go down East Furnace til you see a big boat on the right...we're just two blocks past that..."
Yeah Luke - This is bigger than even you imagined. You're changing Glen Burnie by creating a crab destination. Well done!!
Kid.... you're the last of a dying breed. Been commercial fishing in Alaska 35 years. This makes me nostalgic... Thanks
Thanks for doing what ur doing! Fish on!
@@fvsoutherngirlbrother, keep it up. You're doing a great job.

$250k for a new building or $700 for the Dora Lynn. Another $5,000 for lumber and paint another $800 for transport to the lot. $2,000 for the crane. All in for less than $10k. The most unique crab buying experience Maryland has to offer. PRICELESS.
gotta wait until we see how it does before praising it so much
The fact that this guy doesn't have a prime time TV show is a travesty! One of the most entertaining and capable chaps on YT!
TV sucks. This show would also suck if it was on TV.

The finished product looks good, and great video. You needed CAD* to make that job easier. (Cardboard AidedDesign) Cardboard templates are a lot easier to trim to fit and less expensive when you need to try again.

I’ve been watching your TikTok and praying that you would eventually make a KZhead channel. This is mint content. All of us adhd hobby enthusiasts are LOVING it.
eventually? his you tube channel was been here 4 years before tiktok even started !!!
I couldn't have said it better
Great idea and job, Luke. Best wishes for a successful season.
Adhd warriors!!! ❤😂😂😂
Hey Luke, this is Jeff from California. I’m 60 years old. I just happen to stumble upon one of your videos one day and now I look forward to all of them. don’t get mad but unfortunately I’m not really a seafood guy, but I do enjoy the videos. Hope everything worked out great for you, keep on trucking buddy!oh yeah love seeing your wife you guys are awesome together
Hey this is Jeff what?!
Hey Luke. Wanted to save you some trouble later. Dig a trench from the little creek all the way back to the boat so that it pitches down towards the creek. Deep enough so that any water will run from under the boat to the creek. Get a "French Drain Pipe. A PVC pipe with lots of holes and a fabric sock over it. Bury that along the length of the boat and add a "T" fitting at the trench. Run solid pipe from the "T" down to the creek. Water from under the boat wont sit and ROT the bottom again. Looks stellar. Good lick buddy!
I’m 52 years old worked all over the world, Luke your are great young business man. Keep up the hard work. But mostly keep being yourself and you will have that building one day.
You should put some metal screens over them holes to keep the critters out. looks like a great place to build a nest up under the celing.
TotalBoat is supporting the right people...they've got my business.
98% there! Amazing to see the Dora Lynn at its final home! You’ve saved a part of Chesapeake Bay waterman history with this project. We’re all hoping to buy fresh crabs from the new stand for years to come. Thank you, Luke!
Thank you for watching!
Do me a favor: Take that 3:13 - 3:43 clip and save that... make it a short or make it the 1st video as one enters your channel. Thai is the single most motivational statement that younger people and some older ones should hear. THAT was one of the greatest things I've heard. Keep doing what you do... and may you have excellent success.
That's a ready made TED talk, right there. ;)
Caulk is your friend! Don’t beat yourself up too much, Luke. You’re doing a great job. Can’t wait to stop by for crabs and a shirt.
Wish I could stop by for fresh crabs. NW Montana is a little to far. Even going to Seattle is to far. About 600 miles.

I had to call my wife to have a look at this video. This young man is so much like myself in days gone by. I live in Australia, am 75 years old and my boat is 52 years old. She is an old plank trawler. Cheers ....
You pondered about your KZhead following. I will share my opinion of why you are so popular. Idk how I stumbled across the first post that I saw of yours. I don’t have a clue about crabbing or the east coast, but I saw your ingenuity in fixing things, and your hard work ethic. You remind me of days past when men like my father and my son used what they had to make things work. Nobody sees much of that anymore. I am a fan and hopefully will visit the new crab stand someday soon. Prayers for continued success in everything that you and Lindsey encounter!!
You need some huge flags mounted on top to help capture attention from the road. Maybe a big ass crabb attached to the cabin of the boat. Definatly need some ship yard rope to lace those poles with out front. And some old netting. Other than that, it looks awesome.
Sir William, I was thinking the same thing about the flags, the crab rope is an awesome idea btw
needs those commercial flags and definitely the maryland flag on it
Sir what is an ass crab and what makes one big?
@@fisherb1626 Big ass crabb. Figure of speach. Sorry, let me dumb it down a bit. A very large crab.
Lol he was joking, at least i hope so.@@sirwilliam7988
Luke, I grew up and lived in Anne Arundel County for the majority of my life. I am now over 50 and live near Frederick. My wife and lived off of Solley Road for about 15 years so it's really nice to watch your videos and see the sights we saw daily during that time. We don't get back to AA County that often these days, but the next time the wife has a craving for Crabs, we will be driving back to pick some up from you. Seems like you're doing very well in your endeavors, but I still wish you all the best going into the future. Your videos are entertaining and educational at the same time. Just wanted to say thanks for that.
@28:05 bro I am so glad that you have shown people what a day in your life is like. I’m 25 now and I’ve been working on the Chesapeake down in Deltaville Virginia for 5 years now and a lot of the stuff you say/do is so freakin relatable. Makes me feel like I’m not the only young guy working on the water with all these older guys. Keep doing what you are doing please! Love your content.
All you need for that roof is a 5 gal bucket of elastomeric sealant. Make it white so it reflects heat during the summer. If you want to be really industrious, once you seal the roof, get metal rails and buy a bunch of solar panels from Harbor Freight so that you save money on electricity to keep the crab cooler running. Also, you need to patch up those holes on the bottom or you will get rats and other vermin under your floor boards.
Pro tip. When you're cutting alum. with power tools spray WD40 as you go and the blades won't build up with alum.
I cut a lot of aluminum thresholds, door trim etc. you are right👍
I find PB works great on end mills an carbide burrs.
Appreciate the ride. Keep after your dreams…. Love the crab store. I’ll be in Maryland in October. Maybe swing by then.
That will definitely be an eye catcher on your sales lot as well as preserving a piece of nautical history. I enjoy the videos.
“Had some Korean put the floor in”. 😂. LOL. Dude I love these videos. Not only do we get to see what you do but you are down right funny. Keep up the hard work and your great attitude!! One of my favorite videos. Here’s to a great 2024 season Luke and crew.
Thank you!
I’m going to personally take a trip and buy crabs off you man it’s a must after watching all this work
57 minutes of Luke shenanigans hell yeah
Grew up crabbing in the Delaware. I’m 44 now and haven’t been on a crab boat in 20 years but watching these videos makes me miss it. Glad to see your making things happen! Nothing has to be the typical way as long your getting it done!
BRILLIANT ,,,,,,,GOOD SHIT !
My favorite tool is a chisel. After that's a framing hatchet.Good luck with the crabs stand, I hope you get a great business going. I've never been crab fishing commercially. Living on the gulf coast I have caught quite a few blue crabs for my personal pot.
When your crab stand is open, I'm going to take a road trip from Central Texas to see it, buy merch, and hopefully meet you guys. Your channel is one of the most amazing ones. I am so blessed to have come across it. Thank you for doing what you do.
As a carpentry business owner/operator the quick conversation about your circular saw skills gave me quite the laugh! I’ve have that same conversation with many new guys! Keep doing your thing Luke!

Luke McFadden you are the philosopher Crabber! I enjoy all of your videos! Well done young man!
Agreed! Only addition would be kids, he'd be a great Dad with a lot to teach his adorable future children.
I’m stoked you jumped over to KZhead to make long form videos🤙 I also hate vertical videos so this is such a relief.
My hubby is getting his boat ready to shrimp. I can’t wait! I love being on the water with him. Keep sharing your videos with us. Such an inspiration. God bless!
Need to put some screens on the holes you cut in the bottom so critters don't get in
This is def. True!!!!!
100% Also, he'll eventually need a bilge down there because the water is going to pool in those low spots pretty quick. But you know he'll figure out those problems as they come up.
Too late now.
Awesome video! ❤😊
sick video, you should put like a QR code to this video on the boat so folks can see the transition and all the work that went into it!

Great discussion keep the keel cooler, Put it on display a great conversational pace, and educational for the young ones
Put a piece of wire mesh or screen over the holes in the bottom of the boat to keep critters out.
Fine job Luke ,and everyone else who helped. It's AWESOME seeing a young man live his dreams ,CONGRATS. Can't wait to see you selling Crabs and Merch out of it. Thanks for taking us along bro.
Luke, That turned out looking SUPER NICE, fantastic idea! I even admit I got pretty teary😢 eyed a couple times watching this video!
Best of Luck on the New Business Adventure! BTW- I paused the video to check out yr "Dad's" trash wheel & beings I'm n Indiana could U maybe explain that briefly, that's on my Hoosier brain now.
One more thing, I am in need of a vacation in the worst way , it's been like 20yrs, So now that you've caught my eye...I just may be a customer @ that there "Fruit Stand" when it's up & Float n'😊
Next time, use a piece of scrape plywood or any kind of wood. You make a model cut, then outline it on the new piece you're going to replace 😊 give it a try just might work .
The amount of work you got done in such a short time, and the fantastic job that you did on this is awesome. Thank you for letting us be a part of it!
Thank you for making videos too Wayne you got a lot of informative videos 🙏🏼
You should put a drip edge on your roof to give it a nice finished touch
Fantastic work. Can’t wait to see it all branded and the stand running!
Not sure if you read comments but keep it up brother. I’ve been enjoying your content and story for a while. Props to you on continuing your journey, dreams, and success!
Your discovery of the beautiful wood on the stern reminds me of my parent's house. When they first got it in the late '70s all the woodwork was painted. My parents decided to strip the paint before adding yet another layer of paint. Only to find knot less golden oak under all that paint. They chemically stripped it (to get the paint out of the grain) and polyurethaned the wood instead.
My favorite wood working tool is the DeWalt five inch angle grinder with a flap wheel for those times you need to do some fine tuning or for fast sanding.

The idea if the teak with lettering for pictures was a great idea
I'm from Cape Breton,Nova Scotia. Born and raised by the ocean, living in Saskatchewan Canada. I miss the water and really enjoy your videos. Keep up the great work 👍
Thanks for keeping up with them!
put a sorting table in the center with plumbed water so you can showcase your crab sizes and show them living. like a big open fish tank!
I absolutely love this, it’s definitely the kind of project I would attempt. Also I feel ya on the scrap metal! It’s a terrible thing that happened with the Key Bridge and I mean no disrespect but everytime I watch them removing the wreckage I can’t help but drool a bit over all that steel getting cut up.
Luke, I really like watching you work your way out of a problem. My uncle had a Navy friend that was a waterman out of Tilghman and spent my share of time on the bay around Tilghman, and the Choptank fishing for Rock, and Blues. I just love the Chesapeake.
Dude it looks so good. Was so satisfying to see it sitting, flush, with all the dirt and gravel graded around it. Nice job man!
Looking sweet! You’ve done great
Luke, are you gonna cover those "drain holes" in the bottom to keep the critters out? Put in a trap door to access the lower area (stash electrical and stuff...)? The boat looks great and putting a service counter around the edge is a great idea!
Excellent idea. I’d just recommend creating a drainage channel from the huge sump you’ve just created under the boat to the drainage ditch next to the boat. Otherwise there will be a huge puddle on the inside of your store.
You should close in all the back of the boat and just put a large opening side door that folds up like a merch trailer. That way you can ac the inside. Turn the cabin into the freezer for the crabs install the Mr. Cool system on there.
Congratulations young man
Amazing work You need a big crab sign above the roof mounted to the wood roof beam up top. Maybe add some lights onto the roof shining down to customers.
Beautiful job! Looks like it's sailing on blue gravel, add some white gravel at the bow and it would look amazingly realistic.
I know billboards are expensive but if you could have a couple on the main road before your location with a picture of the boat on them would help catch us tourists as we drive by. The boat looks awesome and is the kind of thing I would stop at just because its kinda cool looking.
His location isn’t on the tourist route.
YOU KNOW it was a long ass week for Luke when he has a hour long video !!! You know he was busy af all week last week and was scrambling to get his stuff together for the season. They should be pulling crabs up already if not any day now lol
That looks really good so far. Need a little landscaping on the property next to it and some Pylons with #1 jute rope and a couple antique crab pots.
She looks awesome on the lot. Great job putting her together and thinking outside the box.
best retirement for an old crab boat, thanks for sharing
that old man shade "you managed to cut that curved with a circular saw, kinda amazing actually" 🤣🤣
The only problem I can see Luke is your bottom is no longer structually connected to the sides! By cutting the frames to lower the floor you haven't got a strong connection anymore. But then again as it is no longer a boat its probably fine. Its a GREAT crab shack! I love your mates caulking hammer. The caulking cotton is supposed to get wet. It then swells up therefore taking up in the seam. Its the cotton that keeps out the water, the compound makes it look preety! Cheers and G'day from Tasmania!
I looks freaking AMAZING!!!! Way to turn a vision in to a reality kid!!!!! It’s refreshing to see a young man in America who realizes how detrimental DEBT can be to long term success and wealth building. Now you have a beautiful PAID FOR crab store! Keep at it kid! Great things are ahead! ✌🏻
I would suggest an RV awning over the counter area. You may still need a bulge pump for ground water. Looks real good.
You're a great storyteller and one of the most hilarious DIYer I've seen. I'll definitely keep watching your channel!!
Good video: Boats; candour; philosophy; cock-ups; and ego-free adventure. 10/10. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I was so glad that dude finally started helping him, I'm about ready to get up and go help him myself but I have no idea what he's building and I'm in Michigan ❤😮
I have days when I get twice as much done or spin in circles in my brain and anxiety = ADHD. Best wishes from the Severn river.
For those unusual cuts, get some card board and cut that until it fits, you can tape together multiple pieces til you have something that fits perfect. Then you transfer that to wood and make your cut. It will save you time, material, and most of all $$$
Keep moving forward brother .. ALWAYS!
Definitely saving this for after work 🤙🏼 Cheers from Canada!!
Love it! I can't wait to come see it next time I'm up that way. It's the perfect way to immortalize that old boat and it will surely become a landmark to the area! 🦀👍
As a retired agriculture mechanic teacher who taught many work skill, you’re doing a great job. The finished project is absolutely wonderful! 😊
Great editing and production values.
My grandfather was a lobster fisherman in Nova Scotia 🇨🇦 many many years ago. He did something similar to what your doing, but when he cut into bottom of the boat for drainage, he added wire mesh over the holes to keep the critters 🐀 from moving in.
use a string under tension from a nail where you want the floor panels to lie level and once you find that level snap the string from the nail amidships. then set your saw corect angle to the frame as perpendicularto the deck of the saw . turn saw side ways and follow the shadow of your string line. its automacally straight.
It’s automatically straight. Yes, but he’s working on a boat that’s curved in two planes.
It is now on my bucket list to make the trek from Indiana to Luke's Crab Stand. 🦀 Nice work young man, you have created a landmark destination.
Thank you Total Boat! You’ve helped me out on my own boat projects and I appreciate you helping out this special project.
Great job. I'll be driving by that way later today i'll have to check it out. Can't wait to get some crabs.
I just stumbled upon this KZhead channel myself I have seen this young gentleman on TikTok. Just kind of like shorts here and there, but I am very amazed and proud of him and his accomplishments. He’s going to be a huge success. He already has a huge success good luck, my friend.
Love the Dead stickers on the wheelhouse
Don't forget wood swells when wet . If you're deck is too tight it will push on the hull. If fiberglass it will crack leaving leaks !

Love your comments about fear and you realizing that you just need to take the chance and do the damn thing. Love seeing you trying new things and succeeding and learning so much along the way.
Cover those holes in the bottom of the boat with mesh screen or something so critters cant get in
Fir shrinks up a lot when it's dry. I used a lot of cotton rope on flat bottom quahog skiffs in Rhode Island years ago.
Dude that thing came out really good. I know it was a lot of work but once it's in place and you're selling crabs out of it it's going to be so cool!!!!!!
