The Birth Of A Tool. Part I. Axe Making (by Northmen)

2012 ж. 28 Қар.

This is a short documentary movie that shows the whole process of how Northmen tools are being hand crafted.
"It is a tragedy of the first magnitude that millions of people have ceased to use their hands as hands. Nature has bestowed upon us this great gift which is our hands. If the craze for machinery methods continues, it is highly likely that a time will come when we shall be so incapacitated and weak that we shall begin to curse ourselves for having forgotten the use of the living machines given to us by God."
Mahathma Ghandi
Music by Foreign Fields - "Names and Races". Special thanks to the band Foreign Fields from Nashvile (especially for Clayton Fike) for allowing to use their music as a soundtrack for our movie. foreignfields.bandcamp.com/

  • After 5 years since I came across to this video, I've found it again. The first time I watched it, I did not know what career to study and by the end I was convinced to study Industrial design (I don't know why I linked design whit this video at that time) and now five years later Im at one year of finishing my career. So thanks a lot!

  • Exceptionally well done in every respect. It restores my faith in humanity that such skills are not entirely lost among us, that the true craftsmanship of my youth still exists, and especially that such adept young people of a generation or more behind mine are the master practitioners of the fine old arts, and willing to share their skills with others. Carry on smartly. Today's culture is starved for true steersmen, the 'real' instead of 'virtual', for quality instead of 'good-enough', and for the tangible touch of human hands, minds and hearts, rather than the cold, valueless, disposability of machines.

Besides adding value to the art of ancient technique, adds value to the end product Neeman Tools. Very inspiring!
