  • Just to clarify: not all future videos will include a voiceover, but only some. I know many of you don’t like it, but there is a minority that instead does, and I wanted to make them happy too. So, if you prefer the old format, don’t worry, it is not going anywhere! 😉

    • In Columbia what does anyone expect, it's all about money there, anyone can get a job flying for such outfits, the attitudes of the crew left something to be desired but jobs are hard to find in that country, you do what the boss demands of you. I felt it tough for the Flt Eng he should have been retired years earlier but likely as not had a family to feed.Dc3s are used in the same manner and some take start to end of what passes for a r/w in most Latin American nations,I have always watched with amazement a DC3 taking the entire R/W before it struggles off, Must hand it to those aircrews, they have guts,but no regulation to protect them and in any event, rules are unheard of especially in Colimbia.

It's true that the mistake was because of the crew and airline, but Aerosucre also makes a good job, consisting in transporting supplies to ridiculously remote Colombian places, just like the one in the video. • For what it's worth, from an old 727 flight engineer, there was manual reversion (cables) to move the ailerons for roll control if you lost all hydraulics. Additionally, standby hydraulic power was automatically activated if you lost A and B systems. It would give you limited rudder authority, for flight and not much else. Though difficult, you could control the airplane. BUT, with both A and B gone, you would NOT be able to retract the gear, causing massive drag. With the #3 engine gone, and overloaded, you are in big, big trouble. RIP.

    @irn2flying@irn2flying3 жыл бұрын
    • Absolutely terrifying. That airport has a runway length of 5,906ft, and from what I gather a 727 with aprox 150000lbs payload needs about 5,800 feet of runway. A fully loaded 727, max takeoff weight is in the region of 200000lbs, and they were overloaded.. So basically It was never going to happen, as a mathematical certainty with all the other variables as well .. Surely the crew knew this but went anyway?.. Baffling and sad as well.

Also apparently, this particular airline company had a reputation of overloading their 727's & many had just barely cleared that dirt road upon takeoff 🛫😳 If ya ask me, there is thrill seeking and then there's stupidity, these young folks were obviously leaning towards stupidity! 🤯

    • Ayeshteni Since both the A & B systems were drained, according to this video, then selecting the standby system would have just ported hydronic fluid to the atmosphere. Just like what happened to the fluid in systems A & B. The damage done to the aircraft opened both A & B hydraulic systems. Most accidents have three factors leading up to a crash. This one has more than three including the management of the airport. I know this is in South America and they are not to keen at following the rules. But this airport’s runway is too short for a 727-200 to operate from. So the airport management should take some of the blame just as the airline should. There are too many ways to tell which way the wind is coming from. To decide to take off down wind in an overloaded airplane from a runway that is too short for your aircraft is way beyond a neglect decision.

  • I like the narration. I like the old style too. I just like the videos you make and think you're good at it. I watch Air Disasters, but sometimes they drag out to make time. You always hit that sweet spot of including enough detail without dragging it out, it keeps my eyes glued to the screen. The animation is great too. For example, I think it's cool when you zoom in on the flight controls that are of interest.

  • Also, I must add that my problem has nothing to do with the quality and clarity of the narration. The quality is fine. The thing is, the classic format generates a cinematic quality and drama due to the clever usage of subtitles and music. All that is lost with the narration. I'll shut up now.
