The moment when Kirsten Dunst says they (actresses) have a responsibility to uplift female filmmakers is what separates her from most famous actresses who talk the talk but not walk the walk. She's worked with so many female directors it's absolutely nuts. A-list actresses have more power than the vast majority of female directors-that's just TRUE. Also: Julianna Margulies is SUPER pissy at that moment and it's really weird. Hats off to Kirsten. Sidebar: Regina King & Kirsten Dunst on a panel together is like the best thing in the world.

Oof this is why I love Kirsten to much! She was kind of quiet on this panel but I know she's about that life.
that’s a nice concept but it’s not the shade y’all think it is. 5 out of these 7 women are tv stars not movie, which means it’s not up to them to “give a chance” to female directors. they’re not in control of who gets to direct the shows they’re in just like sarah paulson criticized her own show for not having female directors which is clearly not up to her… that would’ve been a different conversation if they were all movie stars who simply chose to constantly work with men.
I love what Kirsten Dunst said when she turned the sexism question around and called out actresses having to wear ballgowns at these roundtables. I have always found it ridiculous.

I still remember his name because of the disaster that was this year's Hollywood Actresses Roundtable - it's Stephen Galloway.
+EigramGn What happened? I've only watched the one with Jessica Lange, Viola Davis and Taraji P. Henson but I sensed some shade in that roundtable from some of the other actresses. This is my second roundtable and the interviewer isn't annoying or intrusive and the women just click.
BlackGirlFly With Stephen Galloway? Well he's overly interested in Jennifer Lawrence, and kept interrupting the other actresses as well as Jennifer herself to ask her a question. The way he did it was also extremely rude - he didn't wait for a pause in the conversation before asking his question, but just butted his way through until the actress stopped talking and he got the entire table's attention. Additionally, to keep the conversation "on schedule" (which really is just to ensure he gets to ask all the questions he's prepared) he interrupts, for example, Helen Mirren mid-talk even though she was talking about something interesting, unlike the questions he has prepared. The only thing that saved the whole roundtable was the fact that the actresses were graceful throughout the bare-faced rudeness, were interesting, and spoke intelligently. If you give the video a watch, you can immediately see how Stephen Galloway interrupts from just a few minutes in. Sorry for the rant - I just really detest how he conducts roundtables.

Legit her and Kirsten are the only two I am like yahhh for I just admit Sarah had to Grow on me . It was not till I started watching her interviews that I was like dam this woman is super human and down to earth and reality like she’s so chill .
Kirsten has her feet on the ground, she's all professional, going from independent films to blockbuster movies and now to TV. She's the total opposite of a diva.

Well it's a great moderator change from the head mod from last year - she was always interrupting or saying something borderline offensive. This moderator is actually invested in letting the actors speak.
She should have asked questions to specific people. At some stages no one knew who was going to answer the question. In general, she should have controlled it better. There was a bit of shouting over each other.

Kirsten is so "be the change you want to see" - I love it! She is so right about finding great projects produced/directed/written by talented women to move us forward. Having passionate well-known actors to star in their work will really help them break into industry and make them more desirable for future investors, actors, etc.

Also am i the only one that enjoys the women's roundtables, both drama and comedy and the Oscars ones waaay more than any of the men's ones? I could watch these women talk for days on end, but I've ever made it through more than 5 mins of any of the men's roundtables lmao.

the women can talk easily to each other, whereas the men have a harder time talking or are very awkward when they talk to each other

Kirsten Dunst has always been one of my favorite actresses also. I loved her in Tower Of Terror, Small Soldiers, Jumanji, Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2, and Spider-Man 3 with Tobey Maguire. She sure is a very talented actress.

Kirsten should have won ALL the awards for Fargo. It's underappreciated because it's slower than audiences are used to now. It's quiet. But Fargo is easily in the very top of the best tv out there.

I always forget how much i like Jennifer Lopez. I kind of get caught up in the popstar/huge celebrity thoughts and she becomes a Kardashian in my mind, but then i hear an interview or watch a movie and remember that she's actually just a very likeable person.

I couldn't say tbh, i haven't seen her show. But i always enjoy watching her. I would have liked to see her talking with the Comedy Actresses though, they were a bit more lively and interesting. Some of these ladies seem to take themselves a bit too seriously.

Kerry Washington carried the conversation several times and kept on bringing her interesting and relevant points of view without it feelling like she was talking over the other actresses. I think that's how you recognize a great orator. Love her!

This was awesome. Probably the most diverse roundtable so far. And it's cool to see actresses I grew up watching versus "new Hollywood". They've all done great work and I hope they all keep landing roles, directing, producing. Very exciting.
I just realized I did grow up with them. They are great and introspect and deserve all of what they've earned.
I came here for Kerry Washington and Regina King. I grew up watching Regina on TV in the 1980s and she is still amazing!
you can tell it's a much better host because she let the actresses display their thoughts freely (in contrast to the little man who cut everyone off) and this roundtables always end with a smile or a "this was fun" etc., it's def more enjoyable to watch .
I love Kirsten Dunst. I wish she got more talk time tho, I feel like they kept talking over her. She was the main reason I wanted to watch.

I have watched several of these roundtable discussions and while I have thoroughly enjoyed them all, THIS ONE seems like 100% GENUINE interest of each and every participant with every other participant at the table! Genuine laughter. Genuine interest. Genuine sharing.

phenomenal roundtable. i can't decide whose contribution i enjoyed the most, they ALL added something vital to the wider conversation, their different perspectives and experiences and the context of their different roles, they all brought some really great wisdom based around all that.
