  • Well done and very informative. I think a Veritas file holder is in my future. As is a pair of eyeball extenders. Now, where's my late mother's sewing supplies? There must be slippery needle in there somewhere.

  • Nice seeing steel wool being a hero. I have a plywood tray with high sides. I sit on the couch with it on my lap and steel wool antique tools. Watch a movie and the tools come out nice. All aspects of video production are A+. Video changes angles neigh for holding interest. Oration fantastic. Quality Audio.

  • Nice work and Great video even if I’m guilty of using vinegar from time to time

    • When I first started restoring and sharpening saws I too used vinegar only to quickly learn that a little elbow grease yields a better result.

  • Would love to see you remove and reinstall the back. This was a great video. I’ve slowly learned to sharpen saws. I n addition to the Veritas gauge, I bought the ToolsforWorkingWood vise. It makes as big a difference as the gauge did. I justified it because I had scrounged together over 20 saws, all in need of care and feeding. I can’t even find a service here in the PNW.

    • I have several other saws to restore and sharpen. I will definitely post a video showing how I remove the back…

  • Love the needle test! Will apply! I also have an old straight razor stone (Sharpol). It's just like yours with the square and maker (or seller) name. Do you ever reflatten it? What other uses do you have for it?

    • I have had that stone for 10 years and have never had to flatten it.

  • I have a Disston 10" backsaw and it needs to be sharpened. I can never sharpen high TPI crosscut saws though. The saw I have is 15 TPI. Anyone know a good sharpening service out there?
