I'm PhiDX, I play Tekken professionally for @ParagonFGC and ArcadeShock.
When playing Yoshi it's not about winning, it's about sending a message.
What message? That you're a giant "F" slur? Don't worry. We all knew that already.
It's not about sending a message. It's about spamming flash.
@@Nkodtb its not about spamming flash, its about spamming flea hop
It’s true. No matter how tight or clean the yoshi plays they gotta do some style at least a few times hahaha
damn ice cold based yoshi
Drive-thru: "Can I take your order?" PhiDX: "Thats launch"
LMAOOO
Your victor looks like Noctis after enduring some hard years and only now hes getting the help he needs to overcome his crippling alcoholism.
Tbf getting stuck in that crystal for 10 years is no easy feat man
...and that help is called A Gun.
@@balohna as long as crippling alcoholism is just a code name for Dragunov :D
Looks like a cracked out Toji get up from jjk
To be fair thats basically what happens in game lol.
I love how the beginner top videos are step by step and super easy to understand and the intermediate videos are just a vibe sesh
This is where fighting games are at their most fun. Getting there is the hard part.
just wanna say that i love the way you explain things during your matches, i'm new to tekken and i've been learning a lot since i found your channel.
Lmao @ 2:34 the Azucena at the start. Cheddar character meats even more cheddar character 🤣 Making a Azucena rage quit as Victor is hilarious. He definitely left his console after that 😂
It’s really funny how much more plugging and 1 and done-ing I’ve seen in red ranks than I did in green/yellow/orange
was the biggest scrub ive ever seen. One dimensional brain. Hopefully they plug until they get suspended
How can you tell if someone leaves? I have had several what I think for sure are leavers before I win my round 3. Feel like the game has no transparency.
i'd give that azucena the benefit of the doubt. it's not absolutely guaranteed unless they plug when they're heavily disadvantaged and about to lose the game. that was still "anyone's game"
Great advice! I feel relieved every time I meet a masher in Red. Always great to see more Victor gameplay!
The pure joy phidx had during that yoshi match… that laugh made me smile
the shot out of the air was dope.
you are such a legend for explaining your thought process man
Omg I needed this I feel like I'm getting free'd up by some layer one ass mix and frametraps tryna get into blues 😭
that Yoshi stab was hilarious 😂
I laughed my ass off seeing it live 😂😂😂
Shooting out of the air.....whoooaaa....that was either the worlds greatest read or very good fortune on your part
Victor's pew pew has stopped my advance many times.
Man, again. Thanks for the rationale behind your matches. They help us who aren't as familiar with the game.
i love the mini music sync at 0:24
Not in red rank(or close to it) but I appreciate the vids, definitely helpful when you are trying to get over the learning hump in fighting games.
6:01 well played LMFAOOO
Amazing adjust lol i love your explanations
That endgame Noctis cosplay for Victor hard carrying 😅
As a brand new Tekken player your vids are hugely helpful thank you
@PhiDX what buttons do you have in your fightstick, during this video?
0:52 that was soooo cool!
Bro nice game well played, Victor is really like Noctis the way you playing him. I wonder if you can customize Victor as Noctis never seen one yet. 🤔
i LEARNED A LOT FROM THIS LIKE FOR REAL!
Bien joué 👍, malin dans le style de jeu
Hey man you can make Yoshi float with a jab when you block his moves that makes him enter his flying sword stance Good tips ggs
Hello PhiDX, I hope you read this comment to the end. Great content as always. Keep up the good work! The problem I always had in T7, which T8 magnifies by a large scale is mainly MU knowledge. I study a character, for example Reina, SW this and that, but the timing is very different in actual match VS practice. The pacing of "flow" between hits/stances/mix ups are extremely fast for me to have a completely contained gameplay VS a specific MU. Even when you get +4 frames and you thing it is your turn, heat burst throws all the frames off of the discussion. How to actually improve your MU knowledge without getting your brains overcooked, while understanding the general gist of the game? Is T8 as mash heavy as I see or am I missing something?
A lot of time, reps, and patience
@@PhiDX but then I see a lot of players shutdown some new MUs like Reina/Azucena.. etc. Related back to reps?
Phidx : Abuse your power crush and + frames Me : cries in Leroy
Can't tell if Phi's Victor Custom is Noctis or Phi himself 🤔
It's streamer Victor 🤣
@@PhiDX oh mb LMAO
I wouldn’t say they are easy or it’s always that easy to counter, but ya frame trap and then stand block is solid advice against any opponent
great tips thanks
Indeed Phi! They really are!
That outro is so fire
Hi, it's my first time playing tekken, and I play victor, I'm hard stuck Garyu in rank and I don't know if it's just hard to rank up with victor at this level or I just suck. I find victor really cool, i tried to practice other characters but Idk if I should commit the time or just stick with victor, since I'm new, I'm not sure what is the most efficient way to be better in this game. Great video btw, hope you could help. Cheers!
which ardace stick are you using ?
Oh hell yeah i need this
as a new player, the duck at 2:48 is crazy nuts
As a intermediate player, I would’ve ducked it on the 2nd or 3rd time they did it, definitely not the first 😂
@2:02 that hit totally synced in with the music lol
Love seeing honest Victor play
Victor is looking like a lot of fun !
I'm struggling with opening people up and my movement getting clipped a lot
These 111 and 2222 combos are crazy bro
Heat Haze Shadow on Space stage. I knew we were kindred spirits
Would really like a review on how the points rewards work in Tekken 8. It really does feel arbitrary, not "similar rank, more points."
6:06 OOOH OMGGG
You want freelo? This video is for you whenever you find mashers now. You must pog. Pog
games didn't rly seem like the jins or juns that mash all jab strings at you hoping you press anything. they add in lows and hellsweeps which will just launch
Have you taken them to practice mode to learn their strings? Jun specifically because she has a TON of highs that look like mids. Jun also doesn't have a launching hellsweep
Jun can be punished between certain strings
Neither Jin’s or Jun’s hellsweep launch but sure. Jin is not tricky, pretty honest character tbh, d2 is too good but other than that he’s not awful to deal with. Jun is tough cause she’s new AND overtuned rn.
@@WeMissDimebag they do launch on counter hit I believe and thats what happens when you press any button between their strings
@yellowscarlightningscream8347 Jins hellsweep does not launch. Your thinking of Down 2, which launches on counter hit. All Jin can do for hellsweep I's do th 1+2 follow up to knockdown.
6:03 PhiDX damn man!
Please make a guide how to escape early high blue ranks: Fujin & Raijin
Any tip when you're tired of your character and want to try another one but you feel like you'll forget everything with your first character and will surely do worse with the new one?
Kinda want phi to cover this topic as well. I am at this point, too.
You can write all your notes down
Depends on how much you use your main. At a certain point it becomes muscle memory and if you play enough you won't really forget much.
If you get tired of you’re character then you’re playing the wrong one
Finally hit red ranks, never imagined there's people as good as you so close to my rank, even if it's not your main
Red rank has the biggest disparity between people who are genuinely good and people who kill noobs with a flowchart
started playing tekkon 8 myself, i like playing yazuya so far :)
hey phidx!, any tips for unlearning muscle memory of a character / preventing it from interfering when playing a different one. I mained king since tag 2 and have been playing jin so far in T8. I don’t feel jin is the character for me but when i try to play anybody else i’m just hitting jin buttons or trying to do jin combos and it’s really been quite a barrier for me.
Contract Alzheimer’s
Yoo, I’m in a similar situation to you. I played King up until T8 where I switched to Victor. Honestly, it just takes a lot of time. It took me a while to get used to df2 being a launcher instead of a quick mid check lol. Stick to an another character long enough and you’ll stop pressing buttons you associate from another character.
Have to do some very basic drills and spam them. I'm doing some for Lili and I'll make a video on that
Treat every character like it's own game
What's the combo at 4:21?
Beat mashers by mashing harder than them with a character that's a better masher, got it. Which masher should I mash with then?
they never expect you to stab yourself TWICE
Nice outro
Did PhiDx make himself in character custom? :D
Man, Yoshimitsu is so silly.
The movement is the biggest asset in Tekken and it is the single most difficult skill to master.
Only mashers I’ve ever had issues with are Lars and Steve. Maybe some others if they’re good at being hyper aggressive. Still trying to figure out a weakness to Steve mainly
I’ve met mashers if allll kind
@@charlievazquez5124 I can handle most mashers, starting to get Steve down now though. Defense training is so good.
How does one reset to neutral?
What dan are red ranks?
Do mids have a longer recovery time?
Usually yes, the launchers are always guaranteed to be punished
thank phidx
What arcade stick are you using my friend?

red ranks really do feel like purgatory though, it's so slow to make progress in them
Might be a silly question but: why are you red/purple rank? Do you just not play ranked a lot? I would've expected a Tekken pro to be at one of the top ranks by now. Not trying to offend or anything, just curious. Also that outro is so clean every time lol
All I've done is record tutorials so I barely get to play :(
@@PhiDX A worthy sacrifice to become the Brian F of Tekken. Much appreciated
I think my biggest problem is when I get ran over by someone who is just pressing buttons and I don’t know their character, I SHOULD immediately stop and go to replay but I just get frustrated and like have to go straight back into ranked to make up for losing. I know it’s wrong but I can’t stop lol.
Red is the new Yellow rank?
Got into tekken after watching your videos, picked up Victor and having a blast so far! And you're absolutely right mashers are easy wins, Im posting those wins aswell 😝 Keep it up!
I have played from tekken 4 to now tekken 8 and this game is the most mashing tekken ever. Everybody is mashing and spamming in this game. Every reina plays exactly the same style.
It's cheesy, but it will make us better
Do you have any tips to not become frustrated as a new player to the franchise?
Best advice I've ever heard: "you only get to be a noob once"
@@PhiDX Thats facts!
Man, people leaving mid set urks me a smidgen. Some people online refuse to adjust
Good thing we can report them now :) I hope reporting makes it so that you can't get matched up against them anymore, that way we can make sure these people won't ever get to play the game.
that yoshi didn't spam flash tho
🎉
now this is soul calibur 7
I just have a hard time because mashers are so unpredictable like that literately press every button at the same time best way is to kick low but I have respect in myself and I don't wanna go low the whole game but I guess that's what i gotta do
mashers still pluggin when schooled in a new game.
I finally got to red ranks!!!!
Thats how you know hes a spammer as well if all you heard from Victor is "sayy itt" "coldlow" "cicka chicya" 😂😂
I got stuck on red w/ DVJ but I cant playing mashing cause i got punished everytime
Can someone teach me how to get outta jail vs reina i’m in shinryu and its hell everytime i run into one
I've been having so much trouble in Purple ranks with Victor, man... People just keep mashing on my stance and I can't get my mix started T_T
That's why I never use them here lololol
Is it a normal thing to meet a total pro in red ranks? I sometimes meet average or weak players and sometimes some weird guys who destrooy me in a second
Victor must be stopped!
3:37 mmm
Hey can anyone tell me what he did @ 6:17 to do the gun shot at range?

@@neon-lake sorry i'm a newish player, could you break it down?
quarter circle forward:press down then slide forward in 1 motion, same as hadouken in street fighter the number refers to the limb, 2=right punch 3=left kick etc.
@@neon-lake thank you!!
There are so many mashers in Red ranks, specially players who play Jun, Reina, Lily, Azucena and Law
Which character do you play?
@@jkdman2007 Victor or Claudio
as an EU player, I'm offended by your 100% accurate description of our playstyle
They need to make it so if a person disconnects they lose the points and it goes to the opponent.
3:17 mmm
Phi-tor Chevalier isn't real he can't hurt you
Unless they’re Eddy apparently
what is "european playstyle" :D mash out strings?
Heavily RPS focused
Is it just me or the skill to range level in T8 is the lowest out of past Tekkens? Maybe it’s cuz the game is so new so scrub tactics haven’t been weeded out, but I had a way trickery time getting out of Green ranks back in Tag 2 compared to how fast Im climbing through up to the yellow ranks in 8(didn’t play T7 I stopped playing games for a some years till this year got a PS5)
yea barely any time I block low ppl go low I need to actually just commit to standing block more :y
It’s funny in this rank when they cant do their pressure string they immediately dont know how to play tekken anymore
Can you do some sort of rule of thumb guide for ingame clues and how to spot if it's your turn/when you are likely being able to press. I always think about how there has to be some sort of general system for every type of move in this game that gives away some of this information but i can't seem to figure it out
Turns are almost exclusively decided by frame data. Tekken is a difficult game for many reasons, but one is that the only way to "read" the game, is to know start-up frames for every move, and whether they're + or - on block and on hit. There's no easy way around it. Start by paying attention to the moves that are giving you a hard time, then go into practice mode to check their frame data, and do your best to memorize it. Maybe write it down. There's no overall ruleset for moves in Tekken.
@@catnipnapkin3329 i refuse to believe that this is entirely the case and every player is supposed to memorize the frame data of every single character. Intuition and general balancing let's say for example of armor or homing moves have to be a thing
well frame data is a thing
@@Zade1994 Most characters have at least one of the following: 10f jab 13f punish 14f-15f launcher That's about as close as you'll get to a "system" that goes for all characters. So go learn some frames my guy, the sooner you get started, the quicker you'll learn.
@@catnipnapkin3329 Ty but thats not really what i mean. I'm talking about the defensive giveaways or certain properties for an archetype of move that give you some sort of clue for your options
