This song reminds me of a dear friend of mine who was an addict. He was very lost and he overdosed. Luckily, he was saved by the hospital. Got a lot of treatment and he told me that while he was "dead" Jesus spoke to him and told him he was going to be okay. He got help and is doing very well.

i interpreted this song in a couple ways. 1. that she O.D and saw Jesus, he’s trying to help her and 2. that she got so high in her faith that she saw Jesus. it could be that she really did get so high on drugs she saw Jesus but that’s how i see it. love you noah💗

She said on Miley's show that it was about the state our world is in, in the regards to the environmental issues we are dealing with. She did say she meant the song to be taken as what the listener wanted it to be but in her mind it wasn't a religious song it was about mother earth and needed to save it.
