Snacks and Chats - Israel Adesanya talks Romero, Costa, fleeting joy of winning and therapy.

2020 ж. 14 Мау.

Israel Adesanya talks about his “bizarre” fight with Yoel Romero, why he’s looking forward to the Paulo Costa fight, snobbery at the Halberg Awards and his speech that night, the humility needed to be a good fighter, the fleeting joy of winning, seeing a psychologist, realising the importance of protecting his own space and learning to love his younger self.

  • I just had an epiphany. A lot of people call Izzy cringe. What is cringe? Cringe is usually associated with things that make people feel uncomfortable. A lot of people think Izzy is fake because he is flamboyant and speaks his mind. The reality is he is showing more his personality than most sports people do. In other words he is more raw than most UFC athletes. What do we know about real life? Real life is raw. It is a mix and mash of the comfortable and the uncomfortable. People hate real life. No they really do. Social Media is NOT real life, most of the current generation now understand real life to mean, that which is curated. Being selective, only putting your best foot forward, only showing what people want to see. They think that is real life. They find a lot of comfort in hearing only the selective things that tickles their fancy. They have it back to front. If you know anyone that never seems raw, always gives curated answers, always seems completely polished etc. I hate to break it to you but THAT person is fake lol. Real life is imperfect. It is raw, it is sometimes uncomfortable. It is OK to be uncomfortable sometimes. Social media is going to derange a lot of young people. Why do you think social experiments are such a big hit on youtube? It is just a bunch of youtubers replicating awkward scenarios that we usually see in public (albeit with an exaggerated effect). It is kind of like people are so coked up on the fake reality of social media that when they see those videos it is like hacking the matrix. No it's just mundane life as it always was. Izzy is just a normal human being lol, the other script readers are who you need to worry about.

  • I like Adesanya style and his ability to learn quickly although I’m not all the way convinced, strikers do well but not great as champions. I want him to be more rounded. I’m sure he will learn, but that Romero fight was trash and it’s on Adesanya, he called Romero out. Peace #flowadaptexecute

  • Izzy is very talented but overestimates his abilities, unfortunately for him a roided costa lasted thru yoel at that pace over 3 rounds and took harder shots than Izzy can land, sooner or later Izzy will get dropped by him. Might be a short reign for the young man. Hope he finds the fight in him like in the Kelvin fight.

    • Gunner4life hindsight is 20/20 😄 no im not new to mma iv been a fan since 2012. I have followed izzys fights here in nz n in aus, i knew costa definitely was rudimentary in his striking but i overestimated his durability. I was definitely wrong.

    • He said he was gonna end Romero career at the start he went for it untill he got punched in the face then if u get off his penis issy ran everytime they clashed Romero landed more hits face body that had effects. I'm not gonna count a god damn leg kick as a point when Romero didn't drop from them I'll give some points because he did start to do somthing but it does not outweigh the hits Romero landed while the champ ran after talking shit lol

      @mrslushydaminator4974@mrslushydaminator49743 жыл бұрын
    • Too me he bitched out an ran Romero stood center stage an issy avoided him after talking shit about ending him blah that was not a win it was a loss but issy became a protected asset quit being a fan an watch the fight. Romero was up untill last round an apparently legs kicks do more damage then a punch to the head.

    • You can hate for saying the fight was boring for being a stalemate, but saying he lost to Romero is straight up delusional

  • I love that he holds his hand up before the fight in order to feel his friends and training partners raising theirs as well before a fight. I didnt know that until today. That is a very interesting way to get that extra bit of confidence before the fight.
