So I figured it was time to take a look at the trailer for Wonder Woman 1984. Will it live up to its predecessor, or will it prove to be an embarassing disappointment? Let's find out.

    • They stopped caring a long time ago after they squeezed most of the good writers out of Hollywood by cheating them on royalties and percentages. People were still going to see their drek because there wasn't much option and for some reason people still like going to the theater. So they just kept cramming in more CGI over worse writing. People do seem to be getting tired of it though as earnings seem to have been shrinking in spite of a few "blockbusters." Still, they'll probably have to collapse, roll around in the dirt for a while, and then, maybe, they'll start making good movies again. Maybe.

    • @@ANobodyatall but, really, can you name a drama set in an old era (current to the time it was made) that represents that era's culture that's been modernized and isn't just laughable dreck? you could point to some dramatic themes from, say, 'shakespeare' that are universal to any period (hell, even 'shakespeare' has been reduced literally to teen highschool drama as star vehicles). we're in a very dark period now, where everything and anyone is getting cancelled, white voice actors are quitting animated roles of black guys or biracial women, people have a problem with a disney ride because it's based on a banned movie no one has ever even seen, idiots are changing the name of their band because it has some southern ties, statues of abolitionists are torn down because any old white guy dressed in a certain style of clothing is racist, and people are freaking out over fucking pancake syrup. i wish i wasn't making this up or that even that's the half of it, but as it is the prequel to '1984' is writing itself. this is on top of the years-long SJWism going on in entertainment in general, so how is it even *possible* to take something without those universal dramatic themes and do them justice? there are great 80's flicks you just can't make today, like '48 hours.' i don't know how 'revenge of the nerds' isn't completely banned (one of my favourite movies, but, yeah, that shit would make a blue-hair REEEEE until it died... and, well, i couldn't say it wouldn't have *some* valid argument). if anyone has ever read the screenplay how-to book 'save the cat,' you'll know exactly how little thought or originality is going on in hollyweird today. then you can look at studios like pixar and see the formula they use to great effect.

Even if ideas like these - joining these heroes together - could work, studios are not putting any effort into writing good, sensible stories. • The first film was "successful" (see: financially only) only because it had never been done before, so the allure was there. Sadly though, DC drank their own Kool-Aid and truly believed that they made an great movie and threw a sequel together expecting it would be as well received - it won't be. There's no "Smells like a new car" appeal to it now. Now they'd have to put out a movie that had a coherent story and identifiable characters to push that story. This has none of that. It will be lucky to do half what the first one did.

  • Bad news - they're saying that it's going to be woke too, with them starting the wokeness off by making Trump the villain.

    @seanfoltz7645@seanfoltz76453 жыл бұрын
    • If Trump had never run for nor became president, I guarantee you that the villain for this movie would have been an 1980s televangelist. Not because Hollywood writers think hypocritical grifters are bad, mind you, but because Hollywood would have still been repeating its usual "Christian Man Bad" message, in the absence of the need for an "Orange Man Bad" one. That being said, I find it funny that Hollywood has finally found someone they hate more than Christians, and it's Trump. So much so that they've now made their irrational and obsessive hatred for both painfully obvious, by fixating wholly on one (Trump) and neglecting the other (Christians). But hey, Hollywood, just keep on making every single movie some form of hate propaganda, the public _totally_ aren't catching on...
