where did you find this one?
What size is that lens?
Thanks for cool videos. I thought of one for you. Hook a pump up to H2O with some brass pipe. Put the death ray over the brass pipe with the cool water flowing through the pipe. See if the death ray will heat the pipe (and melt through the pipe) or does the water dissipate the heat.
A new weapon against the ants
Who needs solar panels. This thing will power a steam generator. At least I would think it could.
Sure it will power a steam generator, but solar panels are less complicated, cheaper, don't need maintenance and aren't noisy af 😀
@@SolarCookingGermany ur telling methis needs maintenance is noisy af and is too expensive AND too complicated?
@@zelux3521 Yes. You'd need at least a mechanical tracker to follow the sun, the electronics, tubing, boiler with safety valve, steam turbine, generator, you have to re-fill water and I don't know if you ever heard a steam turbine running at high speed :) For that money you can get a lot of solar panels that even work with less sunlight.
@@SolarCookingGermany whatd i say
@@SolarCookingGermanythey do need maintenance from time to time tho?
I found out about these to late. Must have seen 100s of rear projection TVs thrown out over the years, until of course I wanted one and by then they were all gone except for a few but someone had smashed the screen before I saw them.
Lol
What happens if you focus that point with another Fresnel Lens?
It still cant get hotter than the sun you cannot make a fresnel lens output more heat than the input has
@Boovel The sun is pretty hot tho
@@Thisisahandle701 yeah im not saying it isnt
Unlike mirrors you cannot focus 2 lenses at the same point.
Most likely you would destroy the other lens if you put it in the little focused spot
what happens if you see that with a thermal camera without anything in the focus point?
Fresnel lens
I woulda lit half my town on fire as a kid if i had this. I know a dude growing up if we had this our whole day would be nothing but seeing whats the hardest shit we can melt. This thing is a 10year old boys smorgasbord. Just put big rocks n shit underneath it and just stand and stare going 'woah dude'
Really learning more
Glad to hear it 😀
How to get this glass? Give me link pls
Hey, I have a question, if you backed the rock out of the focal point by a few degrees would it still apply massive radiation heat and eventually heat the entire rock to a maluable state? What if there was multiple angles of radiation focus?
If you backed up the rock you would be covering a larger area, but it would heat up a lot less quickly because the light won't be as concentrated. And having multiple angles of radiation focus would definitely help the whole rock heat up faster (like if you had multiple lenses), but whatever lens was directly lined up with the sun would have the highest intensity
How to buy the lens?
With what mirror did you make, this, I want to do it too??👍👍👍👍
It's a Fresnel lens from an old rear-projection tv
Where to buy this ?
spetacular! name of the song?
Feeling the City by Arthur Basov 😀
Will it work when the sun is not directly overhead as in the winter months?
No you need sunlight for it to focus!
To be clear, yes this still works in the winter to a lesser degree. Depending on where you live in NA (under 43°N) you can still get enough heat from the sun on the winter solstice to start a fire. (Roughly in the 2 hours period during the solar noon) using this size of a lens. But to gather enough solar energy to melt a rock you would need to use it in the three months period around the summer solstice. (Mid-late spring to mid summer) wind speeds, air quality, and of course clouds all effect the outcome. To various degrees. To calculate the energy pointed towards the focal point you need to use a solar calculator to find the angle of the sun to gain the maximum effect of the light collected. For winter fire, kindling is required, but no kindling needed in summer.
this channel underrated as HELLLLL (wait hell is not underrated? yea but u got my point)
Why thank you! 🔥
Интересно, в какой степени эта линза концентрирует свет.
yeah this is (almost) how solar furnace are made !
You are So nice I wish i had a fresnel lens
Paint it blue
What's the use of this, other than melting rocks?
Concentrating sunlight for solar power, and Fresnel lenses are used in lots of other systems where large lenses are needed and high performance isn't as important
I use it for cooking
Wait dont they sell this for car. Doesnt this mean it can start car fore
Wait dont they sell this for car. Doesnt this mean it can start car fire
I can get one thats the size of a standard sheet of paper but i doubt it could do anything.
晴れていれば。 ライターやマッチがない時に小さなフレネルレンズを使って紙や小枝に着火し、その後に薪を燃やすことはできると思います。
Stack 10 fresnel lens and you got a laser beam 😂
No, at that point you're losing efficiency and scattering the light. You make the lens wider and taller though, it is potentially more powerful
Can one of this help solar panels to concentrate more light ?
No, it's a temperature problem. Solar panels lose efficiency drastically when hot

They're tagged in the description 😀
No they aren't, lying thief.

Frenel
I'm interested in the photovoltaic potential of this but it would probably just ruin the materials
Fresnel lenses like this are used in concentrated photovoltaics applications! So for special solar cells these can be used to gather more energy
