Hi Daria, That's a great subject for video. I need to improve my skills with that and it helps a lot. Keep posting, I really like your content. Regards. Carlos Torres
Thank you! Will do!
Hi Daria, thanks for this content. I think that I would try at least a couple of these icebreakers even if I don't know which kind of "response" I'll get from the team.
It's worth trying. Not everything would work, of course. Some things might not work now, but may become more useful at a later stage when the team is more accustomed to each other.
First of all, I would like to thank you for what you do - I learned a lot of useful things on your channel so far, so thanks for that! However, I am pretty sure that if I pull out on my team of senior engineers, "Please, draw a picture of what you did during the last weekend", they will give me weird looks, at best. From what I've experienced, most of the technical people would see these ice breakers as some sort of "HR crap" (precise citation) and I believe it would just be counterproductive in the end.
I get where you are coming from. For new teams, icebreakers are great. Some people want to have fun and others are just plain miserable. I think you need to select the exercise according to the team. 😀
Hi, actually non of the methods here might work for senior level colleagues. For them, it's just OK "how is your day going?" and listen them for about 1-2 minutes. Ask giving their first name, if possible.
@cenk82 I don't see why not. In fact, I have used the two truths and a lie and the mad tea techniques with leadership teams. Why can't they have a little bit of fun? :)
Why does management want to engage us with non-work activities?
they are technically work activities, they are just focused on building the team rather than just pure work
