      @XmanSully@XmanSully4 жыл бұрын
    • @@SimonWoodburyForget Ok, there we have it: since you, sir, are not an athlete, but rather a spectator, you regard sports as a game for your amusement, which makes your argument a valid one. I was one (not a pro), so as that and as a Lifeguard, I can asure you no athlete regards his or her sport as a game, let alone regard themselves as sircus clowns for the amusement of the masses. Perhaps a necessary evil, perhaps just as a necessity, because that is where the money comes from and athletes need to eat. I, as a free diver, was totaly oblivious to anything besides the distance between me and the depth mark and then back up to the surface. As a long distance swimmer, when you swim for 5 miles you meditate, you think of nothing at all, else you freak out. Swimming for three hours while conscious is boring. I allow myself to assume you are a very young person. I believe one day you might understand what I am saying here. It is mind over matter and a body is all matter. It is between me and it. Most people will not understand this, some athletes among them.

    • Yes, BUT they are using air tanks and takes the the point out of the competitive sport! Because when you do competitive swimming like I do you go into oxygen deprivation. When you don't have an air tank and fins!!!!!

      @Gina_Michel@Gina_Michel4 жыл бұрын
    • @@Gina_Michel How is it different - you breath air while swimming, they breath air while swimming - its not enriched air.

      @simonlove99@simonlove994 жыл бұрын
    • @@simonlove99 It is different because when normal swimmers have to breath they have to raise or turn their head which slows them down because it takes increased effort and takes time to breath. Because of that swimmers have to work on breath control in order to lower the amount of times they breath to lower their race times. Which takes a lot of time to do. These swimmers do not have to worry about that or getting tired because of being out of breath because of the air tank. They also have fins which allow them to kick much much faster and harder.

      @techsupport00@techsupport004 жыл бұрын
    • @@techsupport00 Thanks for explaining the difference and I can understand the point. I can see the effort, control and practice that is required around breathing to perform in your particular sport. However, I'm pretty sure you also have to work hard on technique, endurance, muscle strength, steamlining, timing and many other facets to be competitive also. So Gina declaring 'takes the point out of competitive swimming' because one facet of the sport is different seemed to miss the mark to me. Fins are also not relevant to the competitive nature of the event - everyone is equally matched, so all that happens is the speed goes up and everyone needs to develop stronger leg muscles to handle the fins. Arguably it also increases the challenges with nailing the turns as you're approaching the end of the pool at a higher speed, therefore timing is more critical. As you can see, as a layman, I think the original point was somewhat unfair.

    • As I replied to others' comnents: this is not their native language and for a niche sport like this they don't need to import a native English speaker commentator who is likely gonna be a celebrity type drama queen requesting attention and making it all about themselves. Meanwhile, Americans speak 1 language, judging from your last name, you probably speak 2 languages. But that's not because you learned it at school or a language course, but because you were born to immigrants. That's a fact. So think twice before you run mouth about some random Serbian guys commenting in a language they learned at school, in a language that is not present in their country (I know that for Americans it's hard to grasp that not everyone speaks English in their countries, etc.). You can run your mouth about it once you learn a foreign language that is not present in your environment and then go on national television or at least KZhead and speak on camera in that language. Simple as that.
