He is so awesome, isn’t he? Stranger is one of my absolute favorite songs. I get goosebumps every time I hear it. I’m a real fan of movies that have such a mystical or oriental atmosphere. And it was such a great idea by Dimash to use the Qobyz for that. The Qobyz is a very old two stringed Kazakh folk instrument and it’s wide spread among Kazakhs. The man who often is playing the kobyz in Dimash’s performance (also here in Stranger) is the best on this instrument and a good friend of Dimash. His name is Olzhas Qurmanbek. You often can hear this instrument when Dimash sings in his native tongue like Samaltau, Qairan Elim or Òmir Òter. As a Kazakh he speaks Kazakh and Russian fluently. He sang Stranger for the first time at New Wave in Sochi, Russia in 2021. This is an international competition for young artists, founded in 2002 by Igor Krutoy. Dimash sang here as a guest and was also a member of the jury. Igor Krutoy, like so many other masterpieces, wrote this song specifically for Dimash and his incredible vocal range (in this song alone he sings 5 octaves F1-F6 I think). And the last note he held for 20 seconds. The way he switchs so affortlessly between the different registers and octaves in one song is so mesmerizing and unbelievable. Stranger was written by the famous Russian/Ukrainian composer, producer and songwriter Igor Krutoy. His and Dimash's collaboration created true masterpieces. He writes songs that only Dimash could sing with his vocal range, such as Olimpico, Stranger or Ave Maria. You’ll often see him accompanying Dimash on the piano. If Igor Krutoy is there, the song was also written by him.The two have no contract. Their cooperation is based more on mutual trust. It’s more like a father/son relationship. He wrote this song and others especially for Dimash’s wide vocal range. Please react to Olimpico or also Ogni Pietra from his Arnau concert in 2019 next. In this song he sings in Italian. You can find it on Igor Krutoy‘s Channel. Olimpico is another masterpiece that Igor Krutoy wrote especially for Dimash’s vocal skills. This song and this performance from this Arnau concert is my absolute favourite🥰 I think this version is the best, because his performance is so intense and breathtaking. The light show, the background dancers. Everything. With this song in this version I always get breathlessness. The way he represents himself on stage, the hand movements. I think he has incredibly beautiful hands🤭(and apparently many cameramen think so too, since many of the camera shots during his performances very often only show his hands. Sometimes it seems as if he is conducting himself. This is really fascinating). And the facial expression, the look. There he looks so commanding😱. In my opinion, this version of Olimpico is one of the most impressive performances ever. If you don't know what the song is about, you'd think he was going to war and is calling his army to a lost battle 😅! It’s absolutely stunning. And I don't even mean the vocal part, but also his stage presence. The whole package. Oh wow I’m starting to rave again…🤤 Sorry but I can’t help it🥺. Great reaction! Dimash is simply the BEST! GOAT! Welcome to the world of Dimash! He IS an instrument. His voice is so pure and angelic that it transport you to a different dimension when you listen to him sing. He often down play his impossible range, only to say that he does what the song required him to do, and he always give it his best. When he hit those high notes, it's always pure and crystal clear. Never pushing, straining, or sound brassy, like most others who attempt those impossible high notes. The haunting sound from the 2 string instrument is call, Kobyz. Traditional instrument around Kazakhstan and central Asia. The guy at the piano, Igor Krutoy, is a famous Russian composer who came out of retirement to write songs for Dimash. You must understand, Dimash can't be put in a box or categorized, because he can sing anything and everything. As you dive deeper and deeper into Dimash's songs, you will realized that fact. Have fun going down the rabbit hole name Dimash. Dimash, not only have the talent and skills to sing like no one else can, he is also a very kind and respectful person who loves and respects everyone. I'm so glad you checked out Stranger and got as mind blown as the rest of us. I came across Dimash 3 years ago and he still blows my mind because it's unbelievable how good he is. And not just the range, but how he feels everything he sings, and how can move between all gengres, how musically intelligent he is etc etc. I look forward to your next Dimash reaction.
