I remeber coming across a memetic hazard SCP which described the containment of self-replicating unneccessary redaction. Most of that file was unnecessarily redacted.

@Marishi Ten Parts aren't well written, I agree. The AI uses a number of colloquialisms that really break immersion for me. But that line is not one of them. The parameters passed to the AI are, presumably, to waken the anomaly and ensure it acts in the foundation's best interests. Upon seeing a particular line of inquiry may cause anger, thus jeopardizing one of the AI's assigned goals, it changed tactics. What about that is unlike a computer?
@Marishi Ten the point of that line and the implied threat is that the ai itself is just an intermediary between the new gaia and the foundation, what that really was was the foundation itself getting intimidated, not the ai.

We can say it was, at it's core, thoughs was what created into existence the box. Therefore, by sustaining another Operation Styx having this in mind, then the box can be opened again so we can have again interaction with dragons... although I read a theory this is the place where the faeries might have come and since we almost eradicate them, I don't think it will be wise to reopen the gate again just to play with Pete's Dragon.

When I saw the word neutralized I was pretty upset. An scp that was purely beneficial and benevolent destroyed by human hands... to be revived not realizing that the only logical reaction would be for her to neutralize the threat against herself and all life... so they murdered her again, just to call her a monstrosity and try again to protect humanity from penance... it is well written and beautifully executed. Horrific and heartwarming in a single session. Bravo.

Not gonna lie. I almost cry when she said she was going to Borneo... knowing that Mother Nature is alive and come to visit is such a beautiful thought. Even if it came from the idea of one writter. This has been by far the most wholesome SCP I've come across so I thank The Volgun to make it noticeable to all of us. I really do.

I know one of the lines is: "Males are, biologically speaking, disposable" but that's kinda true for a surprising number of Animal Species, the Males will die immediately after Mating, it's the Females that need to live in order to give birth and raise their young, the Males are quite literally disposable, after they fulfil their purpose of Impregnating a Female, they cease to have any purpose, they are disposable, it's more Common than you might think

@@drep6268 It wasn't an SCP. I believe the series is called "The Incarnations of Immortality" and the book was "A Green Mother", the fifth book in a series of eight. It was just the "Natasha" thing reminded me of that. I think anyone who likes SCP's would REALLY like the first book, "On a Pale Horse", which deals with a man who accidentally takes on the office of the incarnation of death.

About that, you do realize that there have been multiple extinction level events in the past so this implies that she either caused them or did nothing to prevent them
@@apexhunter935 Or, as this precise story shows, "Gaia" isn't a literal god but rather psychic being without ability to change reality on her own, apart from supporting life. If a meteor comes down and causes a chain reaction that leads to ecological disasters, she can't do shit. The "violent Gaia" was a byproduct of the human actions to recreate her artificially, it wasn't her nature. In this case, the meteor was Humanity.
I mean... an incarnation of the subconscious thought of all nature that wanted nothing more than to murder all humans and regularly manifested a giant ent for the express purposes of directly killing humans is pretty horrifying to me. It just wasn't a huge part of the video.

I don't know why but the latter part of this article felt really wholesome. It's like the will of one researcher to fix everything has become the base of the reborn Mother Earth in finding her purpose and to carry out that exact same goal. Despite this being an article I read many times, the moment Claire pushed the walls down and was in awe of the beauty of the world gave me chills. The voice acting from everyone I'm this was phenomenal and nearly brought me to tears at the end. Volgun never fails to constantly impress me with the insane quality that he, and the fellow voice actors featured, bring to KZhead. Keep it up!

@@JosiahGore I like the Exploring Series but as someone whos been a member of the SCP wiki for a good few years now I don't like someone explaining the back story to everything. The lack of canon with the SCPs is why I enjoy it so much and I enjoy putting the pieces together myself, or not putting them together - it's nice to pick and choose. I prefer The Volguns channel. I like just listening to the "stories" and for me, the voice acting brings it to life. As for getting weepy, I 100% did! Don't know why, I'm not a crier usually but there was something about this article that made me emotional. It wasn't the voice acting as such, more the fine writing.

I like the fact that even with the time dilation it takes Natasha a few subjective seconds to get authorization to pull up the files. It kind of implies that even for a Foundation AI assigned to a critical project and with all the proper clearances, getting through Foundation infosec can take hours. Nice little character beat for the Foundation itself.
Its particularly interesting when you realize that Natasha has to get authorization from the O5 council itself, a process that within the Foundation can take several weeks. The fact it only takes Natasha a few seconds is not a reference to her speed, or the readiness of the 05s: its a reference to the fact that their entire conversation takes place over the span of many months, due to the fact that the new Gaia processes thoughts very slowly.
I love how they continually use names from Greek mythology, like Geia, Demeter, Styx, Icarus, etc.
I also love how the names of the psychic constructs were chosen to allow readers to visualise and intuitively understand them. For the Styx-type construct, I imagined a black, heavy spear. A weapon. And for the Icarus-type construct, I imagined wings. For flight, and direction. This is a very impressive article.
The foreshadowing in this entry is amazing SCP-4043 wanted to know Claire's name because she didnt have one and was curious, showing that the "humanity" within it was limited. SCP-4043-C now IS Claire and has her name, now being able to understand humanity with her new connection to it as Claire. A name is associated with one's existence and Claire gave Gaia her name, both figuratively and literally.
And next we suddenly discover bacteria that can eat plastic and transform it into harmless substances...
Exactly! The connection between the concepts of name and identity are fascinating, here.

The SCP foundation would like to know your location.
The AI, known colloquially as "The Volgun", is a Narrative-Driven AI developed at Site 19 by Dr. [REDACTED]. The AI presents fictional SCP narratives, in the form of a mock briefing on the video platform KZhead. This is meant to inject disinformation, while simultaneously placating the imaginations of curious civilians. In order to achieve this the AI integrates multiple personas to give the illusion it is, in fact, a physical being. The AI's primary persona is that of a "Dr. Miller", a researcher of the SCP foundation who presents the false SCP briefing. Its secondary persona is a KZhead personality from a fictitious country located in Europe, "Aaron [Data Expunged]" [Note from Dr. REDACTED: "During development I was against the accent, but my colleagues insisted we include it for believability."
My personal head cannon is that "The Volgan" is an SCP that lives within the internet, uncontained, and regularly breaches Foundation security by reading SCP files in KZhead videos that are anomalously unable to be removed. These are narrated by an anomalous voice, typically calling itself "Researcher/Doctor J. Millar," along with a number of additional anomalous voices that represent other roles in such files.

The new 4043 has no intention of destroying humanity, but she does intend on molding the earth to fit along a more productive and ecologically sustainable path. The foundation Also wants this, as they have a vested interest in both not being dead and not having the planet die around them. They did just hand over the reins of the world's collective natural mind to one of the world's most powerful psychics though. The one with 15+ years of experience communing with the original 4043. If she Wanted to I'm sure she could begin a campaign of subtle eugenics, or she could start influencing the genome to produce anomalous traits into most lifeforms to make them more akin to a "hivemind". The possibilities are Endless!

@@threeomgthree It's not that we couldn't stop the destruction, it's that we lack the will to do what is necessary. Things like giving financial incentives for not having kids or even being sterilized. (You wouldn't have to force things like that.) The right is far too concerned with finance and the fossil fuel status quo. The left is all about virtue signalling and shitting on the west. One thing we would need to do is embrace nuclear as a bridge between fossil fuels and fully green energy. But both sides are completely ignorant on the subject and so demonize it based largely on freak accidents at antiquated sites which were negligently maintained. Fukushima was also in a terrible location with sea walls which were far too low. It would be laughable if it weren't so tragic.

@Star Synthetik That’s not my argument here, my argument it’s that this guys leave half of the story out without saying anything to their public making them think that 1730 is like that when it isn’t, they should either look for other SCPs that aren’t so time consuming or put a disclaimer telling their mostly young audience that they are not getting the full story and it’s not just 1730 it’s almost every single one of their videos, between that argument of “ oh then you do it let’s see how it is” doesn’t make sense when you think of it, it’s like having a chef hand out a plate full of things taken out of a trash can and when you say something about it he goes “ oh you aren’t a chef so you can’t say anything” I just don’t get it.
Between it’s not only one person, Dr.Bob it’s one person and he doesn’t do a bad job specially because he picks SCPs that aren’t so time consuming ( even tho I ain’t a fan of him ), scp explained it’s owned by infographics who is a downright company.
While I am totally down for excellent productions such as this, I think the end goals are different. I watch/listen to TES a lot, and most of his vids easily go past the 25 minutes mark. Not everyone is fond of such long content, and animating all of it would take a lot of work and time. Not that it can't be done, but I think the goal of these short animations is to give a brief introduction or a resumed version. Like, if they manage to get a number of peeps hooked up and curious, chances are they'll go to the wiki check the full version. But I get you, this lever of quality is definitely welcomed and leaves you wanting more

That was an amazing story, it's funny how the files we're so used to can invoke emotion. When the second file data neutralized and your heart sinks, and the third file data Keter and you get that oh shit sense, even though Keter only means difficult to contain it still hits you in a way you see it as a threat.
This is a great story and also a very well-put-together retelling of an SCP. Loved the editing and animation. How I wish someone started making movies about all this. At the very least, I would like to see more SCP retellings with voice acting during interviews, etc. like this one.
This was amazing to watch and read along with, goosebumps and ninjas choppin' onions in here. Also, early 90's being the timeframe, I could only think of Captain Planet and the Planeteers and Gaia being the most obvious reference and inspiration for the "...public education programs for children which present the idea of a benevolent 'Mother Nature' or 'Gaia' as a metaphor for natural ecosystems..."

Thank you for making such a great video! I loved the segmented story format! I feel the format fit well given the tone of the SCP and the perspective which the story is told. In addition, the segments kind of gave my mind a chance to catch up to all the information that was presented by the narrator (TheVolgun). As a result I felt like I maintained attention a lot better than I do with other videos. I thoroughly enjoyed the video and legit made me smile and cry!
