  • If you ever hear "Made with Japanese steel" your alarm bells should ring. This isn't a jab at TechZone. This is generally an issue. Do you know what makes Japanese knives so special? It's the craftsmanship. Simply using Japanese steel is meaningless. It's like going back in time to steal Van Gogh's paint brush. Even if you could do that you're not going to be Van Gogh. Taking ingredients from Gordan Ramsey's kitchen won't make me a chef.

    • @@jeremybenoit759 Perhaps. China just isn't well known for high quality craftsmanship. Japan is very well regarded in this matter, and they earned that reputation. That's probably why Chinese businesses like to pretend to be Japanese, such as creating a company with a Japanese name like Kamikoto. If a company has trick me into buying from them it doesn't endear me with confidence in their products.

  • I own the camillus carnivore x and it's good enough for me. For the price point you can't beat the quality. It also comes with a small free blade and the wood saw on top was actually made correctly and cuts right through stuff

  • I have to say that although cool and needed if you're camping, these are not "survival" gear. Survivial means UNEXPECTED isolation without help. If you bring all this stuff with you, it's called camping.
