I highly recommend you watch (listen) to another composition for Dimash “Olimpico”. Please, please watch the version that’s on Igor Krutoy’s KZhead channel, it’s the very best performance of the song. It’s absolutely EPIC!!

The man behind the piano Igor Krutoy is a famous Russian composer and producer. He had already decided to retire, when he met Dimash and was so amazed by his talent that he decided to postpone his retirement. This happened in 2018. From that moment on, Igor Krutoy wrote a lot of compositions for Dimash and repeatedly accompanied him at various performances.
Less than a dozen, because Dimash has actually sung covers of songs that Krutoy wrote for other artists, like Lara Fabian, and Dmitry Hvorotovsky, which is Ti Amo Cosi, Know and Mademoiselle Hyde for Lara Fabian and also songs for many other Russian artists. Love of Tired Swans, for instance, was also a cover. And so it is less than a dozen. Stranger, Olympico, Our Love, Passione, Ave Maria. 5.

He is so awesome, isn’t he? Stranger is one of my absolute favorite songs. I get goosebumps every time I hear it. I’m a real fan of movies that have such a mystical or oriental atmosphere. And it was such a great idea by Dimash to use the Qobyz for that. The Qobyz is a very old two stringed Kazakh folk instrument and it’s wide spread among Kazakhs. The man who often is playing the kobyz in Dimash’s performance (also here in Stranger) is the best on this instrument and a good friend of Dimash. His name is Olzhas Qurmanbek. You often can hear this instrument when Dimash sings in his native tongue like Samaltau, Qairan Elim or Òmir Òter. As a Kazakh he speaks Kazakh and Russian fluently. He sang Stranger for the first time at New Wave in Sochi, Russia in 2021. This is an international competition for young artists, founded in 2002 by Igor Krutoy. Dimash sang here as a guest and was also a member of the jury. Igor Krutoy, like so many other masterpieces, wrote this song specifically for Dimash and his incredible vocal range. And the last note he held for 20 seconds. The way he switchs so affortlessly between the different registers and octaves in one song is so mesmerizing and unbelievable. Stranger was written by the famous Russian/Ukrainian composer, producer and songwriter Igor Krutoy. His and Dimash's collaboration created true masterpieces. He writes songs that only Dimash could sing with his vocal range, such as Olimpico, Stranger or Ave Maria. You’ll often see him accompanying Dimash on the piano. If Igor Krutoy is there, the song was also written by him.The two have no contract. Their cooperation is based more on mutual trust. It’s more like a father/son relationship. He wrote this song and others especially for Dimash’s wide vocal range. Please react to Olimpico from his Arnau concert in 2019 next. In this song he sings in Italian. You can find it on Igor Krutoy‘s Channel. Olimpico is another masterpiece that Igor Krutoy wrote especially for Dimash’s vocal skills. It was written for the 2nd European Games in Minsk, Belarus 2019. And that’s why the lyrics are also very motivating. This song and this performance from this Arnau concert is my absolute favourite🥰 I think this version is the best, because his performance is so intense and breathtaking. The light show, the background dancers. Everything. With this song in this version I always get breathlessness. The way he represents himself on stage, the hand movements. I think he has incredibly beautiful hands🤭(and apparently many cameramen think so too, since many of the camera shots during his performances very often only show his hands. Sometimes it seems as if he is conducting himself. This is really fascinating). And the facial expression, the look. There he looks so commanding😱. In my opinion, this version of Olimpico is one of the most impressive performances ever. If you don't know what the song is about, you'd think he was going to war and is calling his army to a lost battle 😅! It’s absolutely stunning. It has been a long time since ive seen a reaction to Stranger not be blurred. Oh, Happy Birthday Nick. Igor Krutoy is the piano man. Yes he's a famous Russian composer, producer, singer. He has written many songs for many artists. He has written or rewritten many songs for Dimash. Love of Tired Swans, Olympico, Mademoiselle Hyde, Your Love, Okay, Know, Where Love Lives, Love is Like a Dream. There might be more, but my brain can't remember. It was Dimash's idea to add in the Qobyz/Kobyz that is played by Olzhas Qurmanbek.
Igor Krutoy came out of retirement after hearing Dimash and wanted to be able to be part of Dimash’s rise to fame (my words). He was so impressed by Dimash, he has written many songs for him and he is there to accompany him. You can see how proud he is of Dimash when the camera focuses briefly on him. I’ve heard the whistle note he hits is a D8.

Very flexible vocal folds, yes, but he didn't get those overnight. In an interview with a Turkish interviewer Dimash was asked if his vocal folds are physically longer than average (happens as a twist of nature sometimes), and Dimash confirmed that this was the case. But...this means absolutely nothing if you don't tirelessly train them to do what Dimash is capable of. This is commitment since age 5, hard work, never skipping a practice (he practices at least 3 hours a day) adjusting your life habits like not drinking cold liquids or alcohol (he even stated that he used to drink his coke luke warm).

Nick, thank you very much for your wonderful reaction, all Dimash fans (i.e. Dears) value the opinions of professionals who appreciate Dimashes mastery: his wonderful technique and incredible sensitivity❤ You noticed that Dimash was sweaty, but you have to know that Stranger was the second challenging song he sang that night. So he had the right to be tired at the end😊 That doesn't mean he sang it worse or 50% better, no, this performance is iconic and exemplary in many respects. For comparison, you can listen to Stranger performed during the Chinese show Shine Brothers (it's on the Dimashes channel). The vocal acrobatics that Dimash did there are even more delightful, even though he was sick at the time and was hospitalized right after the performance 😳 We, Dears, appreciate this boy even more, because even despite his weaknesses, he gives his all! 😍 Greetings and birthday hugs from Poland 🎁💐❤🇵🇱
Dimash was feeling hot at New Wave, but he wasn't tired. He sang two songs - no biggie for him. Let's rather not go into the details of NW here though because it always causes controversy. He was NOT hospitalised after Shine. He had bad rhinitis due to an underlying issue. There was a possibility that he might need a small procedure afterwards, but he didn't need it in the end.

@@FluffysMum not really and it was a beautiful, mild evening. I was there. There was a nice sea breeze which was a nightmare for the people with the candles. But the stage lights were very hot and that wasn't a cotton outfit he was wearing. And as you know, his face and scalp perspires extremely easily. I'm not sure why he doesn't have botox treatment for his hyperhydrosis as it is very effective and he can certainly afford it.
@@Watchamacallit000 Actually he was hospitalised after that performance. It's the reason why he was not picked for any of the teams the next morning. There was complete outrage amongst the western fans watching Shine because they thought he'd been ignored by his Chinese co-stars but luckily the Chinese Dears knew what had happened and explained that it was due to Dimash having to leave for urgent medical attention that caused his late arrival at the gymnasium where we got to see him pick the team he wanted to join.
@@debbiemorgan859 I know exactly what the underlying condition is, which is exacerbated by the rhinitis he usually gets in that part of China. But I'm not going to discuss it because medical info deserves a degree of confidentiality. Just keep in mind that visiting a hospital to consult with a specialist isn't the same as being hospitalised (admitted for inpatient treatment). Enough said on the subject
Hello, I'm going to explain all the scenery. It's not mine, it belongs to a Russian youtuber whose channel is called: Prefessor Georgievsky. Dimash leaves nothing to chance, he gets involved in everything and everything from the beginning has its meaning. At the beginning you see people with black capes, medieval style like their clothes. There are 9 women and 9 men all with lit candles. At the end of all of them is Dimash and if you look closely you see a big round light and another small flash of light. The lyrics as you say is "stranger in the land of strangers". He wants to start over but he also says that this place is familiar to him as if he had been there before but it is supposed to be the first time. When she sings after the chorus and makes those notes, the first one more serious and the second more acute that seems like a baby crying... Then she makes those two very high treble notes and at that moment, the ones with the candles put them all out. Explanation: the 9 men and the 9 women represent the 9 months of pregnancy, whether it is a boy or a girl, the candles are the "lighting". The large final sphere represents the uterus of a pregnant woman and the small flash of light is the embryo... Dimash worked on this masterpiece for three years. Igor Krutoy, the guy at the piano, is a brilliant Russian composer and so-called "oligarch" who came out of retirement to work with Dimash but also has worked very closely with Lara Fabian, who also merits thoughtful analysis, imo. He is the composer of the Dimash rendition of Ave Maria among others.

Igor definitely isn't the highest paid musician. There is a big difference between the net worth and earnings of a musician vs a businessman with interests and investments in the music industry, which is what Igor mainly has.

I agree that Dimash often chooses simple lyrics so people of all languages can memorize and sing along at Concerts.😂 I am a big fan of Dimash singing Opera Cross-Over duets. I love his duet with Aida "Ulisse" the most but Ti Amo Cosi (trio) and Sundet duet are amazing as well. "Ulisse" is sung at the 65th Birthday celebration for Igor Krutoy. Of course, every time you see Igor at the piano, you can be guarenteed that he is the composer for that song. I am also a big fan of his Folk pieces. He is a very influential musician in the slawic world and a billionaire. But he was retired before he heard Dimash for the first time. Then he decided to compose for him. Thanks to that decision we have songs like Stranger, Ave Maria, Olimpico/Ogni Pietra, Love is like a Dream and Dimash singing other songs, that Krutoy originally composed for other singers. People don’t talk as much about his lower range. (Which he developed much more recently), maybe because it‘s more common in men. And there are enough other singers that can sing even lower. I am so pleased that you are doing more Dimash reactions, Placido was impressed enough to invite Dimash to be a judge and , with one day of practice, perform a duet together. Dimash’s music generally does combine elements of traditional folk sounds or instruments, even if he uses his voice to create the sound, which is not uncommon. In other songs, he will do what sounds like a violin solo, which some people view as showing off and I view as-this is how he mentally sees/hears this song in his mind. If you have reacted to Olympico, I definitely would recommend that, a performance from a Dimash solo concert is pretty much the favorite, Olimpico was also composed by Igor Krutoy specifically for Dimash as was Stranger. At the beginning sounds an old Turkic stringed instrument called Kobys. It is probably the oldest bowed stringed instrument in the world and it spread to became the prototype of all European string instruments as violin an chello. That and the use of the fa minor key in the composition gives the vibe of Middle East /oriental/ exotic sound. Thank you. This is an epic song by Dimash and Igor Krutoy (at the piano) composed it. Igor is a famous Russian composer who came out of retirement to work with Dimash. They have a good number of incredible pieces that they have done together: 'Olympico', 'Passione', 'Love is Like a Dream', 'Mademoiselle Hyde ', 'Love of Tired Swans ', 'Know', 'Ulisse', 'Your Love', 'Where Love Lives', 'I Miss You', 'Ti Amo Cosi', and a new composition of 'Ave Maria'. This song is wonderful in all ways. I also get a folk feel from this. Dimash loves folk based songs and melodies. And the Kobyz is perfect for an ancient feel. Love seeing your reaction and hearing your professional take on his vocals. ;) He did 1 other version of 'Stranger' when on the 'Shine Super Bro.s' show in China. He did some vocalize in the middle that is astounding! He was also ill with rhinitis and had to leave the show to have a procedure done. Igor Krutoy is a very revered Ukraine/ Rusdsion Composer,/Entrepreneur whp came out of semi-retirement to write pieces especially for the unique voice of Dimash. The first song her wrote for him was Olympico (after all who else could sng it! Or this one!?} They have since collaborated on numerous pieces, but Dimash is also a Songwriter and Composer. Stranger was one of three new - and very different - pieces, premiered at this New Wave Song Competition 2021. The other two were 'Ave Maria' and 'Fly Away'. The competition is for emerging young artists, where Dimash had performed in the past and here attending as both a Headline Act and a Guest Judge. { Gotta say... would hate to be one of the competitors there - all wondering no doubt how on earth to 'follow' that! } Keen to see your reaction to Fly Away too BTW! 😄

I think that’s a C2. Solid bass territory. Also there’s a more recent concert video where he accesses this note much more easily, so he’s clearly been working on his lower extensions. I imagine working with Krutoy, he’s being encouraged to push as far as he can. Speaking of Jesus Christ Superstar, Dan Vasc does a cover of Gethsemane that you really should hear. Don’t let the “metal singer” thing put you off if you’re not into metal (I’m not). He’s fantastic.
I am not into metal either, but I like Dan Vasc too. He doesn’t touch me emotionally like Dimash does, but I do enjoy him as a great vocalist.

"Stranger" was the first of three songs Dimash premiered in August 2021, during his performance at the annual New Wave music competition in Sochi, Russia. He again performed with Igor Krotoy on the piano and introduced Olzhas Qurmanbeck on the kobyz. Igor Krutoy composed the music, American poetess Sharon Vaughn wrote the lyrics, and Dimitris Kontopoulos (Greece) and Yerlan Bekchurin (Kazakhstan) did the arrangement. Igor Krutoy is quoted as saying, "it was Dimash's talent that inspired me to write this song, his immense vocal abilities, and his desire to sing for a large international audience. Franky, I don't see anyone else who could perform this piece in such a way." In my humble opinion, this is an amazing performance, one of the best to date. Dimash traverses almost 5 octaves (C2-F6) in this performance. That stunning last note is about 19.7 seconds in full mixed voice belt in F#5. Dimash performs an alternate version of "Stranger" on the "Shine! Super Brothers S2" Youku Show that is simply mind-boggling and well worth checking out. The kobyz or Kyl kobyz is the most ancient bowed instrument on earth, widespread among the Turks, Kazakhs, Karakalpaks, Bashkirs, and Tatars. It became the basis for most of today's bowed instruments worldwide, including European instruments such as violin, viola, cello, and contrabass. The Kyrgyz variant is called Kyl kayak. The instrument is carved from a single piece of wood (typically apricot), juniper (arsha), maple, pine tree, or birch. The instrument consists of three parts: head (base), middle (base is keude), and lower part (ayak) and usually measures 60-70 cm. The resonant cavity is usually covered with goatskin, reproducing a sound representing the animals of the steppe. It has two strings made from horsetail hair, one to provide melody and the other resonance. Someone explained that one string is made with 75 horse hairs and the other with 60 horsehairs. The strings are not pushed down to a fret but are played with pressure applied by either the fingernail or the pad on the finger, and the tones are varied by the pressure of the bow. The bow is shaped like an archer's bow, and its string, made with 40 horse hairs, is tied to both ends of the bent branch and affixed with strong threads of camel wool. The New Wave Music competition started in 2002 and for nearly two decades now, has been one of the most iconic music events in Russia and other parts of the world. It is an international contest for young performers of popular music.
