Singer 2018 is the second season of Chinese television series Singer, a rebranded version of I Am a Singer that will air on Hunan Television. It is produced by Hong Tao, and its music director is Hong Kong senior musician Kubert Leung.

I think she is up there with them too. Her vocal technique is very comparable with the legends. One thing she doesn't have is one of those huge hits like My heart will go on or I will always love you, but vocally she is legendary
Her record company aren't sure how how to market her. They keep trying to turn her into every teenage girl singer on the market, which is ridiculous, because what she has is sheer vocal talent. She can sing, and she needs the right songs and I hope she gets them.

It was I heard her live, it was nothing short of spectacular. It’s like an angel singing for you.
I was at a concert of hers in Los Angeles and at one point she started singing about how far she has come...she put down the mic...went acapella...I was in the back of the Orpheum and you could hear her clearly...it was powerful, she had everyone in their feelings. Also she is very engaging with audience at her performances.

I actuallly cried on this one. Her presentation was so heartfelt. I went and listened to the Official Video sang by Prince and it gave me an even greater appreciation of Jesse J's version. Even her hair was made to look like Prince's. This could have been a tribute it was so absolutely PERFECT. She should have gotten #1 for this performance.

You poured your heart, body and soul into this performance. The passion, the techniques, the voice, the embellishments, are so tasteful, the guitar solo, the band, the lighting and the arrangement. It's perfect. Definitely in the top 2 for me. The young guy Hua Hua did a really innovative and amazing arrangement for his song, if not, Jessie J will definitely be number one. But ranking isn't important on this show. What's important is they push each other to learn and explore during the competition, and leave behind superb quality music for us to enjoy even after the competition 😊😊💖💖🎤🎤

John Kenneth Cargullo Also there isn't any singing competition that is for professional and established singers only. She might find this idea interesting, want to absorb the Chinese culture and expand her market. Also as she said in the first episode, she said she's turning 30 and she wanted to do something different. She first heard about this show when Coco Lee sang her "Price Tag" in I think season 3, and she found it interesting. I'm grateful for her adventurous soul, that brought us this sublime performance we're hearing now.
If there is a ranking then it is somewhat important. I agree we should be grateful for all the performances, but your comment is highlighted definitely reflects that Hunan TV wants to sugar coat the fact the result is controversial. I saw from different sources that there were many Hua's fans in the audience, which might potentially affect the results. While we respect every singer, the host definitely needs to work on its credibility.

This program is not just about vocal ability. It's to a great extent about being innovative and about rearrangement. You really have to make an effort creating something new every week.
Making a classic your own without much rearrangement is even more challenging. Yet, Jessie has made every song her own purely through her singing.
