Homemade lathe from pvc
I built this mini lathe to turn parts made of soft plastic and aluminum. I use a 775 - 5000 rpm motor, 12V-10A adapter.
Thank for watching my video !

Here is a good example at 270 seconds in. kzhead.info/sun/gdKOmbZtgJFsjGg/bejne.html While you are not doing it quite the same way, I think it has a similar impact. • When you are using the miter gauge and the fence to cut long pieces on the table saw (at 1:54) it is advisable to clamp a short stop block to the fence. The block should be near the front of the fence, well before the blade. You would slide the work piece left until it touched the stop block, not the fence, then hold it firmly against the miter gauge or cross-cut sled as you push it through the blade. This allows you to use the fence to make lots of equal length cuts, but also allow extra room between the fence and blade so the cut piece can't get bound up and thrown back at you.

    • made with a range of his other "well-made toys". Lets be realistic here, for the type of stuff he makes, this is perfect! Yes it would be useless on traditional lathe materials, such as wood, but it's perfect for the type of things he will be using it for, especially considering that by going with DC, it means he can make it all himself without an electrician or risk of severe electrocution, due to the far lower power output

  • Congratulations. The design and workmanship are great but there are some minor flaws: The connection of the largest bolt on the rotating body to which the lathe tool is attached is weak, it may break under slight pressure. The most incredible thing is the cap screws. Almost all of the cap screws appear to be loose and weak.

The headstock and cross-slide could use some screws to make them stronger, and the bed could still be a bit wider for that centre height, in order to gain in overall stiffness. Other than that, I'm sure one of these could even cut steel.
