Will Dommaraju Gukesh be able to make history as the YOUNGEST world champion? The FIDE Candidates Tournament is one of the most grueling tournaments in chess, and this year is no different as Hikaru Nakamura, Fabiano Caruana, Pragg and others fight for the COVETED spot to face Ding Liren in the World Championship.

    • @@sauravsharma8461 Performance rating depends on average and also drawing the games will not impact performance rating hugely and pragg and vidit go for more draws than gukesh. Gukesh plays fearless chess and will give you decisive result so is performance rating impacts usually because of his decisive games. Gukesh's comeback after losses is what makes him special

  • I remember in the 90s African football players would come to Europe and play for various clubs, and a lot of questions arose if they were really their stated age, as birth certificates didn't exist or might have been tampered with. I thought maybe Gukesh was the same, until I learned it's quite common for Indians to grow full beards as teenagers. In any case Gukesh is not like his stated age, which is a huge compliment. It's still impressive as a 21 year old, and only more impressive if he's 17.

    • 1) Top chess players play in tournaments all over the world and give several interviews, so they have experience giving interviews in a second language. 2) English is actually very common in India and is the usual language of instruction at most schools.

    • Hindi medium schools are more common than English. But English is a taught in every school as a separate subject. Plus Indian parents are very strict regarding studies and education. So you will find a lot of good English speakers, especially among the younger generation.
