Jurassic Park's Dinosaurs aren't exactly scientifically accurate, but how do the InGen Movie Creatures compare to real-life Dinosaurs based on the latest science? Let's go through their designs, including stats for height, length, and weight. From Brachiosaurus and Dilophsaurus to T-Rex and Velociraptor, we're tackling every Dinosaur from 1993's Jurassic Park...animated!

I also love that the differences between the movie designs and the real life counterparts were shown very clearly and were easy to understand. Overall this video gave me very positive vibes. It is disappointing that it actually seems to be regressing to being even further from accurate than the Jurassic franchise, which at least carries some respect for the animals, but it's honestly just nice to see dinosaur media besides Jurassic Park. Now that the franchise is mostly finished for the time being, it opens the door to other studios producing dinosaur films without Universal going haywire with ridiculous lawsuits. They had to fill in missing or broken DNA strands with various modern animals to make it work. They literally say the animals they made are not the real thing in the book and movies. Hence why the raptors didnt have any feathers, they used frog and reptile DNA to fill it in.

Dinosauria is such a diverse clade of animals that it is hard to assign them to one or the other. Dromaeosaurs (raptors) had full on wings and were covered in feathers, while the ankylosaurs were covered in hard bony plating of armor and were most likely kind of slow moving and were a little on the cold-blooded side of the spectrum. • I wish you'd added Spinosaurus to this! The real spino is so much more bizarre, and we're learning more every year. For those interested, the JP3 spino is depicted as a big T-rex with a crocodile like snout and a rounded spine. The real Spinosaurus had a much more squat, nearly-but-not-quite quadrupedal stance, the sail was shaped like that it a sword fish, it had an enormous, tad-pole like tail that nearly doubled its length, and recent evidence suggests it could distend it's lower jaw like a pelican (or at least it's smaller cousin Baryonyx shows this adaptation). It's believed it filled a similar niche to a modern day heron, living along waterways and using it's enormous, crocodile like both to snatch fish.

  • 0:59 I have a personal hypothesis on the dilophosaurus, it works as follows: "perhaps" the dilophosaurus puppies had "the umbrella" like the chlamydosaurus to terror the enemies, which over the years was absorbed, replaced by the crests. The "poisonous spit" could have been a "defensive vomiting" as in the chicks of the Northern Fulmar (Fulmarus Glacialis), the Northern chicks Fulmar vomit on the Agressors to remove them. I believe that the "defensive vomiting" of the dilophosaurus had been a sort of "marker" for parents, so the "bully" was "spanked" by adults.

So many other videos like this have people pointing out a FEW inaccuracies, but not talking about ALL of the visual differences, and not providing images. This can lead to people coming away with a vision of the animals(especially Velociraptor) that is… better, but not completely up to date. This video was really short, but done in a way that provided an accurate view of each creature. This is a long comment, but basically, this was just well done.

  • If you can saying about that, the novel is also very different to the to the films. 1) Brachiosaurus didn't appeared in the novel, instead, it's replaced with another sauropod, Apatosaurus, sometimes referred to the novels as "Brontosaurus". In these books, they were described to very accurate with long diplodocid skull and jaws, a low-lying neck, a vocalizations that were simular to Elepahtns, but lower and hevier. 2) Parasaurolophus dosen't appeared in the novel as well, but it has two different species of Hadrosaurs: Hadrosaurus & Maiasaura. The only real description for Maiasaura, is that it had a upturned lip, seemed to be like a smile. 3) Triceratops in the novels, have a longer horns, and very poor vision, similar to a rhinos. 4) Stegosaurus in the first novel, was described to have a dumb animal. 5) Serving a similar to the novels, the Gallimimus in the novels, we've got two animals, Dryosaurus & Nanosaurus. Dryosaurus are smaller, while Nanosaurus are larger then their real live counterparts. 6) Procompsognathus (often referred to as "Compys"), have a venom, that were added in the novels 7) Cearadactylus, is also slightly larger then their real life counterpart, crestless, 8) Dilophosaurus in the novel, is slightly larger then their real life counterpart, v-shaped crests, no frills, and like the films, they do have a venom, but spit up to 50 feet away. 9) There's not one, but two T-rexes. The younger one is two years old, and the older one, sometimes reffered as Roberta, her age is not given, but at maximum, she would be 6 years old at the time of the incidnent. The T-rex have bite force multiple times, and even the young one, have a powerful jaw strength. 10) Velociraptor are also larger then their real life counterpart, based on Deinonychus, have yellow color with dark stripes like a tiger, the forked tongue, like a lizard.
