Who Dares Wins - Come Dancing with Jools Holland - A 1986/87 New Year Special
We were invited as a team to be guests on Jools Holland's New Years special filmed live in Newcastle 1986/87. Notable for some encounters with Derek Hatton and his crew and Mr Leon Brittan. We got into some hot water on WDW intimating all sorts of things about Mr Brittan but he seemed very happy to play along in this particular stunt. It's an hour and a half hour epic co-hosted by Ruby Wax featuring Paul Carrack, Chris Rea, Jimmy Ruffin, Jonathon Ross, Mandy Smith, Nick Lowe, Noddy Holder, Suzanne Dando and Uri Geller. This is amazing!! I never knew of its existence... I applaud the genius of whoever thought of booking Hatton and Brittan - looking baffled and terrified respectively - for this exquisitely chaotic broadcast 🤣. And I went to that first Reading performance shamelessly plugged in the opening sketch 😁.

Yes all absolutely terrifyingly live! Paul Carrack was a great fan of the show and even got us all into a pop video of one of the Mike and the Mechanics songs - can't remember which one. Let me know if you find it or know of it 😀
