This is a basic Long Jump teaching progression I use for my beginning high school and youth jumpers. It teaches the angle of attack, lowering the center of mass and introduces concepts for teaching the hitch-kick.

Get the run up right and consistent.

Thanks sir
Are these progressions only for the hitch kick?
No. This applies to all long jumping. Until the athlete steps down after takeoff the projection for the hang, stride and hitch-kick should be the same.
Thank you, Coach!

My pe teacher send me over here 👇
i thought the 30 dregrees have to be from floor to leg.
David Duarte It is actually from hip to ankle. And it is not EXACTLY 30 degrees...it is an approximation. You will find some variation of a couple degrees either way, but for the most part it is still about this angle. I made this video four years ago, so there are some details/nuances I would have added if I knew then what I know now. But, it is still pretty accurate info.
Cameron Gary thanks
