Hey Horse Lovers! This weekend we went to a Big Annual Spring Horse Auction here in Michigan. This auction had a variety of horse breeds of all shapes and sizes. Most of the horses were in decent condition which is nice to see in auction setting. I was impressed with the auction for calling out issues in the ring when they brought horses through. The riding horses were in pretty good condition and prices were fair. However, some of the select horses sold up to $26,000! In this video I will talk about what I am looking for in a potential auction horse purchase and also share some educational tips when it comes to browsing horse auctions. You will get to see my full experience and feel as though you were there! Did any horses catch my interest? DID I BUY ANOTHER AUCTION HORSE? Watch to see! IF YOU ENJOY MY CONTENT SUBSCRIBE!

You are so fortunate to have someone as wonderful as Kyle who supports you. Always appreciate him. My husband of 50 years died 2 years ago and I so miss him. It is so sweet to see you two enjoy your horse adventures together.
😊 13:01 13:01 small Christian day school. There were 2 girls that had the privilege of having their own horse. They were best friends but there was desention on yhe part of one. She had a Mogan horse that you know is one of the smaller working horses. That made feel like the under privileged step sister. Her friend had a beautiful svelte whire Arabian horse. The cream of rides. To me, a horse is a horse. Any horse that could stand on 4 legs and hold me on its back would have owned my heart. This past couple of years I have watched the working breeds become or popular and quite frankly provide the more elegant ride. I don't know how either girl came out. I just hated it that one was so miserable, in her mind, with a 2nd or 3rd class ride. In truth they were living the stream and the first girl did not realize it.
That Clydesdale has one of the most amazing Roman noses I’ve seen! Very well balanced.
Yes😂😂
This has become my absolute favorite equestrian channel. Although I’m still young and don’t have any land of my own yet, I 100% believe the 24/7 pasture time and access to food. I feel like putting mares and geldings with eachother is extremely good to balance behavior with respect. I love it.
I love this comment so much! Thank you. 💖💖💖
Reasons why I love shae and her farm! This girl points out the pros and cons and all the good and bad stuff about horses. She informs us on buying horses, she is so kind to all of her horses and the people who sign up for her program. Her content is just 👌 perfect. All the work she puts into all the horses she owns is just amazing. Love you ❤❤❤
You made my entire day!!!!! Thank you. 💖
Your welcome! You deserve it! 526 was really pretty!

Always look forward to your auction videos
@@freespiritequestrian watch you from sweden, got stuck on your channel🥰😍
My grandma had Belgian work horses on their farm back in the early early 1900’s! She taught me to love all animals especially horses!!
I can’t wait until Bell has her baby. I’m so excited. Hopefully everything goes good.
Same!
Sammmmmee❤
I love you and your beautiful passion for your horses and how you put their needs first.. not everyone does that Shea, and it’s hard to watch those who don’t observe the 20% rule like you do- they weigh 250 Lbs. and they insist on riding 2yr old Colts! I’ve tried talking to them but they insist they know it all & science is on their side. I don’t mean to ramble on. Just needed to let you know♥️
This is from me! Kathleen DesVoigne
@@nicolaxoxo1 take the owners word at an auction? No way. You must have never purchased from an auction or been to one, that’s okay! There are not vets to do PPE’s here. If their were I would have mentioned that in the video or taken advantage of that opportunity. Huge difference between buying auction and private sale.
I’ve never owned a horse. I know how to ride, but never owned a horse to all these videos are super helpful to me. I’ve been watching free spirit equestrian two years now I just love how much information chickens, so thank you Shae.
I meant to say I love how much information she gives
My girl is made of money 🤣🤣🤣❤ In all honesty, I’m so impressed with your horsemanship and I’m very glad that you treat your animals so well!
I’m seriously not! I’m not made of money at all. Lol
@@freespiritequestrian love the saying; people think im made of money because iI have horses but I have no money because I have horses XD too true for most of us
Definitely getting higher into sponsor territory, I wouldn’t be surprised if companies began offering sponsoring deals to you! You work really hard! It would be awesome to get offered a 4% sponsor deal 👀👀👀
I loved that palomino!! Just the kind of horse I would love to have. Nice auction too. Nice to see horses that are cared for. ♥️🐴👍
Yes so pretty!
when those horses pulled on the panel made me think that is the exact reason that should never have horses tied to a lose panel and they should have had a break away halter or bailing twine
Yep!
Thank you Shaw for letting your fans live vicariously through you. Let me know if you ever need someone to love on your horses.
You and me too lol💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
So many gorgeous horses this time! Lol..I don't know if I could have kept my self control in check! And Kyle...you're not alone in the way you dress your brat. Lol, I even put mayo in my pinto beans...so creamy and yummy! I'm a southerner so we cook our beans for hours so that they have dark, rich, and slightly thick bean soup, then ladle them into a bowl. If you have never tried them like this you should give them a go. And a piece of good ole southern cornbread along side is a must too. 🤤😂
i love your auction vids!!!!!!!!!!

I'm a super new subscriber but I already have Shae's voice saying "who's a good boy" stuck in my head almost constantly hahahaha so great. But this is also such a great and informative video! love this channel already.
Oooh, that grey Quarter horse really caught my eye too!! 🤩 Can't wait for Belle's mystery foal ❤❤
WHOO-HOO KYLE, YOU AND ME ARE THE SAME 😃 I LOVE MAYO ON EVERYTHING TOO. My husband says I'm un- American because I put Mayo on a hotdog 🌭. I love mayo on every sandwich known to mankind 🤣 So kuddos Kyle, I'm with you buddy!! Great auction, loved it. Loved several of them. Thanks for taking us along Shae. Love and Blessings always ❤️🙌 Jennifer
Your auction vids are my favourite. That last little pony was sooo precious!
I'm so glad I had a chance to own a horse. At the prices they sell for now I would never have been able to afford a horse. I love going to auctions with you. You point out important points I never would have thought about. Lemon 🍋 Drop, perfect name for that darling pony.
Yes prices are absolutely insane!
Thank you for bringing us along to the auction Shae. I no longer have horses and I do enjoy your content so much! I’m very excited to see Belles foal.
Watching the men standing on the horses and snapping their whips triggered me. I grew up near an Amish community and saw firsthand how harsh most of the horses are treated during training and field work. They force them into submission and work them into the ground. The polar opposite of your training techniques. Thank you for treating your horses with respect and kindness! ❤
So many beautiful horses Shae, and what l really like about this auction is the size of the ring, it’s a lovely size not tiny like most l’ve seen on your channel, it allows you to see horses moving around more, tfs x Julie 🇬🇧
I love the auction videos. It’s so fun to see all the beautiful horses.💕💕
I’m really glad to see that they are very well taken care of at the auction and I am even more glad to see they have food and space to relax
Not me just stumbling across your channel and now binge watching every video 😂😍 I love how you teach others what to look for and what to keep an eye on and also how much some horses go for! I love your videos
I love how Shae brings awareness to pros and cons of auction buying. I've been following her channel for a lottle while now and all of her videos are so amazing and she treats her horses like kings and queens👑
That dappled grey quarter horse was stunning. I fell in love!
I love your farm!! Your so gentle and kind to them!! I wish you luck with the foal and I will use these videos to help me in the future when I go to an auction!! Keep doing what your doing and I think you are amazing!! You are my favorite KZheadr and when you post it brightens my day! I hope you have a wonderful weekend

Love this!
Such a cute pony ❤ Definitely should be Kyles Christmas present! Great video we love you ❤
What a nice auction! What a nice wide bidding ring! It's very spacious and I like the vibe right here a lit.
Thank you for taking me along always like to go with you and Kyle to the auctions
Shea, I absolutely love your videos! You explain things so a new horse person can understand and learn! You have such a sweet disposition yourself, I imagine all the hoeses love you! You can really tell how much you love what youre doing. You are just a joy to watch!
💯 Congrats on your Mentorship Program on how to buy a suitable horse. Your business model is really taking off along with the number of great subs. ❣ I learned today about the "long toe" on some of the auction horses, which I had never really thought about before, and the "cloud" in the eye I've seen in canines, as in cataracts and blindness.
My home page cannot survive without at least 5 videos from Shae! And I'm so excited for Bell's baby! I'm so happy for you and I hope everything goes well with her! ❤
Thank you for letting me see all the pretty horses! I really enjoyed that!❤
Bella is a very beautiful horse not knowing she was carrying a beautiful baby you and Kyle are very lucky to have a baby in the family
i love those armish people who care for their horses! what a lovely sales barn! loved all the mules
I'm so bummed I can't watch the class I literally don't even have money for gas at this point lol! I lost my business and my home because of covid shutting my bar down smh. I am wanting to venture into the realm of sort of what you do???? I want to start a therapy riding program geared towards individuals who suffer from a mental or physical disorder. It's been my dream since I was 15 but I got swept into the world of alcohol and drugs. I've made so many wrong choices that I can ONLY see good choices!! In a way I'm grateful to the bad decisions because if I had not made any of those then I wouldn't even know what a good decision was and I can appreciate them all the more. Thank you so much for sharing your life with us on these videos they've truly mean the world to me!
Love your auction video. hate to see a mare and foals at auctions 😢. I love how you educate us. ❤ And you can get a pony because buzz is in the dry lot on his own he needs a. Friend😂
I recently came across your yt shorts & have thoroughly enjoyed your videos. I’m a city girl, have the slightest clue about anything horses/ponies. Thanks to you I’m learning soo much & they’re so beautiful!
The baby at the end was darling . He would be confused wondering if he was your dog or your pony. Sooo cute…
Thank you for letting me come along on your Free Spirit channel. I used to know absolutely nothing about horses but lately I seem to be able to pick up some pointers. I am disabled and will never ride but I love this stuff!
Your auction videos are so fun to watch! Such a fun and serious adventure!
That was so much fun Shae ,Kyle 🏇 Really liked the larger arena bc it gives the horse more freedom to express itself instead of feeling cramped in and nervous. The minis were delightful especially the Lemon Drop kid. A great little addition and companion to your mini but it can't be ridden unless its a tiny tot. So cute....! Those Friesians and the one you really liked that went for alottt. He was stunning. Very sure footed wide horse and classy ! Thank you for bringing us with you. 🐎 Kyle's sandwich looked yummy. 👍
So cute little baby mini!!! Could buy it and resell to one of us watching you in a heartbeat!

just want to say thank you for making my life sane with all thats going on in the world today its so refreshing to watch you xxx
Kyle is a true icon: Giving horses nicknames Where does he get his imagination?? Also, what did he nickname Prince charming?
Girl you do not understand how fast I just clicked
That silver dapple! I love big horses and that coloration
You find so many horses at these auctions that are perfect for what I'm looking for, I really want to buy my first horse (I've been riding for 10 years) But my parents say that we can't because we don't have the property. My dad is ALMOST into getting me a horse. We've talked about what breed I want (looking for a draft or draft cross) and all of that stuff. He knows allot about horses also, and we can keep it for free on the barn I take lessons at since I help with there Christmas and Halloween parties, plus the summer pony camp for the kids.
THAT PAINT PONY IS BUZZES FRIEND!!!!! THE BAYISH ONE!
0:53 kyles wave 😂 it was so adoravle abd wholesome
We always try to go to a Yoder Brothers auction in the summer on vacation! They had a whole dinner service with their auction one time and it was the best!
Your instincts were right about that sorrel, but never pay what you don't have! x
❤️❤️
You scared me and got me excited I thought Belle had her foal (at the very end of your video). I think that is a wonderful program you are starting. Such valuable knowledge you are sharing. Wish I was younger looking for a horse and knowledge on what to look for. I would be your first customer. I know this will be so successful for you Shae❤❤❤
Thank you!
You and Kyle make such a good team! Love your input on the horses, could really help someone select a correct horse for them. Thank you for teaching us!
Thank you!
I have to say the best horse the best horse I've ever owned was a rescue. His owner was goi g to put him down & the vet called me & told me if I'd take him, he'd do the horses eye surgery/removal for $300. I trusted my vet & knew he wouldn't vouch for just any horse. Charlie was 24 yrs old 16.2 Quarter horse, had 1 eye, but had a body rating of a 12 yr old. At age 30 he couldn't eat hay, but lived off a hay pellet until he began to go blind in his other eye. I had to put him down at the age of 33. Even the vet who had to put him down couldn't believe Charlie was 33 and not a young teenager. Best horse of my life ❤
That’s great. If you are okay with anything and not knowing then buying an auction horse with an issue is totally okay. The difference with auction horses is you don’t have any time to think or have them evaluated.
Nice sale glad to see those horses went for big money means thier not going to kill buyer ❤ first sale ive seen horses go for more than 6k. Most sales ive been to have kill buyer prices. As rider with trainer knowledge ive not paid over 500$ for a horse, but all have needed tlc before retraining
Horses are bringing big money and decent auctions. I typically go to decent auctions when possible.
@@freespiritequestrian theres non that i know of here in washington. It would be lovely to walk into an auction that was that clean with good stock.
Love the tiny pony Nettie
Oh, I was hoping that your husband could talk you into getting that sweetheart little pony ! So pretty and precious! Lenondrop I think you called it! But I understand, Belle's baby will take time

Chez that was fun having to view the horses with you. I am a retired farmer, but I wish I could’ve had your services when I was much younger. Sounds like a good deal educate oneself. Thanks Shae
I would become crazy with money in my pocket and with so many beautiful horses. But you have to be consistently and buy what you need 😊
Kyle’s wave in the background 😂😂😂😂! It’s in the beginning of the video btw
It's May and the month of Bells baby. I am so curious as to what the foal will be. I love your auction videos I am always surprised how you can not buy one. But I can't believe the price of some. I am from the Netherlands originally, and I don't like to see frisian crosses. The frisian is our national horse, and the stud book is Royal. So I really don't like the breed lines diluted. But back to Bells foal, I remember when my Mustang mare who I had bought pregnant, I knew she was because that is what the seller wrote. I bought her because they were slimming down their herd, and she was $100. I bought her so she wouldn't be bought by an auction house or kill pen. I had to pay for the owner to bring her to my house because I didn't have a horse trailer. The owner was very gruff and told me she usually had a buckskin foal. She had been trained at 3 years old, but she was ten now. They had mostly used her as a brood mare. It broke my heart thinking about the life she must have had having a foal and being breeded again right away. So, for 7 years, basically, being constantly pregnant while raising a foal. Only to have all her foals taken from her around 6 months. Very sad. I was planning to keep both the mare and the foal. When it was close to her due date, I separated her from the herd. I had 4 other horses, and they didn't all belong to me. I had 3, including the mare, and I was riding a trotter for a friend who didn't have enough time. One night, I woke up around 2 a.m., and something in my gut told me to check on my mare. She was in the middle of giving birth to my filly, who I called BABY. I reverted back to having a human baby, towels, and hot water. Àltough I just grabbed a ɓunch of towels. To if mom would let me dry off the foal. When I came out again, BABY had been born, and mom was standing with the Placenta hanging out. YOU DO NOT WANT TO PULL ÒÑ ÌT IT WILL FÀLL ÒUT OÑ IT'S OWN. Safe it for your vet to look at the next day he can ensure nothing is left behind. If there is, it can cause infection, just like child bed fever in women. My mare who I named freedom since she was a mustang and had been bought at a BĹM auction as a baby. Freedom let me dry off ƁABY and I let baby smell me. I blew into her nose very carefully and put my hand in her mouth. While drying her, touching her everywhere. When Freedom was rested a bit, she started licking BABY and nudging her to get up. I went to the hind quarters, and together, we got BABY to stand and take her first few steps. I had to help a bit to get her to find the right spot to nurse. You want the foal to nurse as soon as possible because the first milk contains the very important colostrum, which helps with the foals' immune system. Also, nursing helps the mare get rid of the Placenta hanging from her. Just make sure to save it for the vet. Socializing the foal should start from birth if you have a good relationship with mom, and she trusts you, then touching her foal should not be a problem.
I knew we saw you there! 😊 It was a great day for an auction!
It sure was!

Dear Shae, l loved the large Clydesdale and the large black Fresian horses. I appreciate 💕 the knowledge you teach us, on what to look for, in healthy horses. You always look beautiful.
Awwww thank you. That Clyde was beautiful!

Love the education you give in these auction videos. I'm also happy to see that so many of the horses are cared for. 💕🐎
AWWWH! The little lemon drop pony would have made a great companion friend for Buzz, who would not eat too much. Super cute!!
We don’t want another small pony and Buzz will eventually be for sale so that wouldn’t make any sense.
Mm, you nearly sold him with wouldn't eat too much. Made me laugh.
The ponies are so cute 😊

So cute, Kyle waving behind you. Hi cutie Kyle! 👋🏻🧑🦳😊 I can say that, I’m 70 yrs. old. LOL You two are like G-kids to me. Really my G-kids are a lot like you two, they are adorable and I’m so proud of them. Oh I knew Kyle was talking about Jfar. 😊 Thanks Kyle on the mark after sale horse. At some point, would you point out a Rocky Mountain Draft if you see one. Thanks you two, so fun and educational too.

So many beautiful horses. I just kept thinking about how every single one of them was in an uncertain situation... right where a horse doesn't like to be. The gate-dragging fiasco doesn't surprise me at all. 😥
We had a mare at my barn named Fancy Pants and she saldy crossed the rainbow bridge earlier this year.
I am with Kyle I love blue roansThey’re probably my favorite never owned one but would’ve liked to. I did own a chestnut with the flaxen, tails & mane who was beautiful.
