Since September 2nd, 2022, I've been working on this project, and honestly while often it became exhausting, I overall really had fun on it! and yeah, I might also apologize for lack of animation, that might be the biggest down from this entire thing, but regardless I still hope you enjoyed it! :D

SpongeBob and Patrick can't do anything because other fishes humiliated him
I really like the added epilogue with spongebob and patrick talking, something about them not acting like dumbasses for once is really likeable.
Me too! I also love how they didn't add jumpscares or anything like that after that lovely scene
they weren't dumbasses in the first 3 seasons of the show
I loved when they actually had some sense of intelligence in the earlier seasons. I think it just made them more human and likeable
true i hate the way the writers portray spongebob in the later episodes
To me Spongebob and Patricks talk about them hearing that Squidward commited suicide was sad and happy for me. Squidward never embraced that Spongebob and Patrick just wanted to be friends. That part where Spongebob said that he never wanted to leave Patrick hit me in the feels. It seemed like they were very great friends, and they still have together.
I feared for jumpscares, yet none came. This was one of the scariest videos I've seen though, and you demonstrated that you don't need jumpscares or loud sudden noises to scare people. This conveyed horror and fear and depression in ways I didn't expect. You deserve a like

I like how this remake essentially overcomes the trauma of the original.
i love the idea of people reworking on older and cliché creepypastas to make them genuinely good and scary. this was so well done and captures more of the energy that i imagined back when i was a kid reading red mist.

@@bonedude1286 for Sonic.exe we already have some alternative variations but yeah, we need a true remake for the OG creepypaata
What I love about Red Mist Retake is that it turns the story into something completely different in the most unique way I've ever seen. Squidward's Suicide goes from a lost episode made by a deranged serial killer to possibly an animatic made by a grieving animator working at Nick who secretly made this as their way to cope and was never meant to be seen by anyone else.
the second part is scarier in my opinion Makes even more sense considering the closed door shit.
this idea makes me think that the dead children being put in the episode are not just the work of some sick asshole, but rather, maybe, the children of this animator, who were murdered in cold blood, which would be the animator's way of showing why they're feeling this way
@@blackspy8331 that would make an excellent 4th wall lore and give this such a good expansion, hell this coukd even go beyond just this creepypasta and add more into it making it a giant creepypasta story
Ohhh… as in a vent piece that was never meant to be seen
I’m also thinking that A Certain Conversation would be something they put into the episode after they got help and no longer wanted to kill themself.
The fact that Patrick shows real responsibility and the fact that he’s aware of these sorts of things makes me feel like Patrick isn’t what everybody thinks he is.
That ending is perfect. Literally perfect. The “squidward! Squidward? SQUIDWAAAAAAA-“ line is a perfect representation of either finding, or finding out someone close to you has killed themselves and the conversation between spongebob and Patrick afterwards almost made me cry

Such a beautiful retake on Red Mist. Also, the part where Spongebob said "Thank you for telling me what you've just said earlier, I really needed it" hitted me like a bullet train since Spongebob is a very nice character whom I can relate too.
Including the fact that SpongeBob glitches when he says something sometimes in a certain conversation implies that if it wasn’t for Patrick coming in with the conversation SpongeBob would have kicked the bucket as well.
Not only it is scary, it's sad, I love when Vibingleaf adds up the emotions that's necessary for the settings, or drop down the fear when it wasn't really needed

It’s like Patrick is SpongeBob’s candle around the darkness
This is so sad, the fact the SpongeBob yelled out is name. This is proof that suicidal thoughts, and having horrible mental health can lead to suicide. The red mist is basically a metal health problem that some fishes get, and the fish that walked up to Squidward warning him about the red mist, was most likely a ghost telling him that its coming for him.
I never thought a Red Mist remake would make me cry, but this one was made with care and heart unlike the others. I just subscribed, you deserve it.
This. This is what Red Mist could've been. The creators absolutely nailed this. I like how in some parts, the artwork looks unfinished and glitched out. And in others, it actually looks scary. They did great at doing what the original Red Mist couldn't.
I mean, it IS what Red Mist was, a canned episode that was still in the development phase that had an unexplained demonic presence, dead children and all.
red mist is just a fake goofy creepypasta
Couldn’t agree more, and I noticed at the more eerie parts the scenes seemed more glitched
Well someone did do a rewrite of the original creepypasta awhile ago where it was the same story with the difference being the dead kids shit being entirely removed from the story completely.

Crazy how even slow pictures can still create the illusion of seeing the whole story come to life
im glad this story went from "oooh spooky death and Hyper Realistic Blood™" to being an utterly terrifying depiction of struggling with a downward spiral of mental health that leads to suicidal ideation that just so happens to be with spongebob characters
"A Certain Conversation" really depicts Spongebob and Patrick well. It's incredible. At the end of the day, these are still the same characters we know, not some cheap horror versions. No matter what happens, they're still friends. And they always will be.
The part where SpongeBob yelled Squidward’s name gave me chills. Genuinely.
"OhHHHH SQUIDDY BOY-" Edit: "OH, OH NO-"
And the part was when it froze and looped at the ''war'' of squidward's name gave ME chills
feeble minded
The part where Squidward's mangled shot face is burning in hell is terrifying
I sort of wish there was a version of Red Mist with a somewhat happier ending where Squidward survives his attempt. Mr. Krabs is sitting alone in his office, wondering if he overworked him and wracked with guilt. SpongeBob nervously paces throughout his house, his childlike innocence shattered after seeing such a sight so close to him. Squidward sitting in his hospital bed, staring out his hospital bed, wondering why he survived, if he was just born to suffer. Then he comes home, and life is…oddly different. Mr. Krabs is oddly lax with Squidward slacking off at the cash register, he can’t remember the last time he could hear SpongeBob laughing outside his house. Even Squilliam, his lifelong rival, isn’t as antagonistic as he used to be. He hasn’t picked up the clarinet in months, though.
THE WAY HOW I ACTUALLY STARTED CRYING AT THE END THIS ACTUAULLY MADE ME SOB, IT WAS SO SS TO SEE SPONGEBOB AND PATRICK LOOKING SO SAD ABOUT SQUIDWARD…. ALSO SQUIDWARD WAS MY FAVOROTE CHARACTER IM SOBBING!! I STARTED SOBBING AT THE SHOTGUN PART!! 😢😢😭😭😭

@@beatbelle47take that back
It feels like the Red Mist itself is more of a state of mind than an entity or event. Almost like a visual depiction of a mental health spiral. The scene where that fish pleas with squidward and warns him of the coming Red Mist is so dissonant and so sudden, and I wanna say it’s a good representation of the first warning signs of declining mental health. The vague hint that something isn’t right. But squidward didn’t confront or recognize that in himself until he had already sunk well beyond the breaking point post-concert, and the Mist engulfs him that very night, when he’s alone with only his thoughts. You can even see SpongeBob beginning to experience that distortion just as Patrick came to talk to him. It’s a faint and eerie presence throughout the conversation, but it’s definitely not the oppressive Red Mist we saw earlier. Maybe that’s because SpongeBob’s getting the care and support he needs in that moment. A mental health crisis isn’t always as apparent from the outside as it is to the one suffering. That’s why it’s so important to check in if you start to see that something’s wrong. Even a small conversation, or a hug, or a thoughtful gesture can change everything. Y’all stay safe out there and be well tonight. Remember that you never have to suffer alone.
Yeah like at 2:40 when the background gets dark that indicates squidwards mental health dying beyond return
Hearing the spongebobs voice when he discovers squidward with his head blown to bits and the sirens (which in fact many medical sources state that sound is the last thing you can detect before your brain stops functioning) is what really hit me the most. It's really hard to imagine how suicide victims felt when they hear the screams of their family members discovering their loved one died. When this first came out, unironically when I watched this video, it stopped me from doing it and I got the help I needed. Like you say, you never have to suffer alone. Mental health is serious.
@@bastardhyena7882 I’m so glad you’re okay, dude. I wish you the smoothest road to wellness possible.
@@mytoasteroven2402 how can you tell that the Red Mist is a terrible state of mentality instead of an actual force or event or entity when you literally have a Squidward-like, pale entity that could represent Squidward’s humiliation and the suffering from his humiliation in the part where Squidward’s mentality and body was deteriorating in his bedroom and the part where 3 distorted, horrifying entities appear in the very end of this episode with whom one of them looks like Squidward and possibly represents the Red Mist? I mean, yes, the Red Mist means a fit of intense anger that temporarily clouds a person’s judgement in real life, but how would it be a state of mind in Squidward’s case when clearly there was a Squidward-like, pale entity in Squidward’s bedroom and a scary entity with the other two in the end of this episode who looked like Squidward and probably might’ve represented Squidward’s suffering and Red Mist? And besides, it looks like in this case, Squidward’s Red Mist PERMANENTLY clouded his judgement instead of just temporarily doing it.
To me it is real despair. Not mere hopelessness but black, malefic death. The pitfall of Squidward's life reached it's grizzly terminus and he saw distorted visions of himself, dark reflections and demons haunted him. It was the crushing weight of his hopes and dreams come to haunt him in a waking nightmare.
I love how this actually gives off the vibes of an unfinished episode, the way it's missing most of the animation and voice acting.
No matter what, even when it seems like there’s no way out, that you’ve hit rock bottom, there’s always an option. It’s never the end and the end isn’t an escape.
The sad fact spongebob always be nice to squid even squidward was rude to spongebob for more than 100+ episodes
5:22 is a smart idea to let Spongebob see Squidwards corpse. Most of the time Spongebob just walks in uninvited in most episodes.

Instead of being pure idiots.
One of?
it even has classic spongebob humor by showing patrick forgetting the whole conversation, the scene seems like something out of an actual spongebob episode
SpongeBob is affected by the mist, but the difference between him and Squidward is that Patrick is by his side, which is helping keep himself sane
@@golfboyshi I don't think that was patrick forgetting what he said, I think it was patrick not realizing spongebob meant the part about "some fish just don't want to live, and it can be for any reason". Implying spongebob jumped off after the fade to black.

This whole thing feels like one of those nightmares you’d have as a kid that make you wake up in a cold sweat afterwards, not wanting to go back to sleep for another 2 or three hours. This gave me that same feeling of dread, having been a child and going through that trauma before, it’s eerie as f*ck how well done this is.
This right here
You described perfectly what you feeling in that moments i had that nights too and i remember the nightmares still now
I know those nightmares too well
I had nightmares like those as a kid and honestly still do to this day, this video perfectly encapsulates what those look and feel like
Have you seen SMILE the things look actually like the paints on the wall
I have an understanding theory for this video: At the beginning, we can see a fish offering him something random. The fish goes away, but squidward sees the fish again warning him about the “red mist”. Basically warning him not to do the show because he was warning him about getting humiliated and…you know what’s happens after being the red mist is not real. It is just the grief the takes over squidward because of the humiliation. At first he doesn’t understand, but after the humiliation squidward is drawn into the suicidal thoughts because he worked so hard for the show. You might be thinking- why is it such a big deal?? Well, squidward as the grumpy character he is doesn’t put a lot of work and emotion into things. This is one of the first times he did. The red mist takes over his mind and he hallucinates it actually taking over him. The last scene of him was when he committed. The creature we see that “shot him” is actually just the mental being of tragedy, humiliation, and any other negative thoughts. Though he sees it a different way then committing, but knowing deep down it was just himself all along. And that there was not actually any “red mist”. There was no monster that killed him. It was squidward, by himself.
Sad, but more realistic and scary theory.
the scene with spongebob and patrick at the end was so wonderfully in character. despite subject matter this dark never even coming close to being discussed in the actual show, i could read the dialogue between them in their voices perfectly and it honestly made me tear up. great job, dude.
As somebody who rolls my eyes at the meaningless shock value of the original Squidward's Suicide/Red Mist I really like this take. I like how the whole 'ooo pictures of dead children how spoooooky' shit is replaced with vague imagery of eldritch horrors that leaves room for imagination while not being unnecessarily edgy, you know? The characterisation and lack of any 'hyperrealism' makes this actually feel like a rough draft of a Spongebob episode.

I would like to give my perspective on this beautifully made video: This is a exaggerated symbolic comic about a suicidal person with Schizophrenia or another disease that causes hallucinations. Squidward clearly has nothing to live for, and succumbs to the “Red Mist” which is a symbolic way to describe suicidal thoughts. When Squidward comes home, he tries to go to sleep, but shortly after suffers hallucinations which, along with his suicidal thoughts, made him grab his shotgun, and shot himself in the forehead with it. Then, SpongeBob knocks on Squidward’s door, probably to check if he is ok, but as he opens the door, he already knew, it was too late. Afterward, you hear ambulance sirens, which signify that SpongeBob called 911, and then SpongeBob and Patrick both share a conversation about what they could have done, cherishing their memories, and friendship with themselves and Squidward. Finally, you see a uncanny and disturbing image with some sort of hellish figures in it, along with some very strange sounds. I have barely any idea what this could possibly mean, but it is probably Satanic creatures, which torture Squidward in hell. My evidence for this in this video, is you see fire at 5:27, which probably mean that Squidward, unfortunately, went to hell. Another thing is that, in most religions, suicide is considered a sin. There is a few interesting details I would like to note to understand the story a little more: One: The fish that warned him about the “Red Mist” was most likely another hallucination, which unfortunately Squidward ignored. Two: You see a few pictures of Squidward dead in between the “Red Mist” section of the video. They show Squidward lying on the ground, with a black censor bar covering most of his face in the pictures, which is proof that Squidward indeed, shot himself in the forehead.
As somebody who lost a friend to depression.... this hits home....

A sight like this probably scared Spongebob for life

Fun fact:Squidward's blood is actually ink
the issue is that shotgun damage doesn't do that, it completely obliterates the face, leaving a red mush in place, not shredding and leaving strands of skin so, i think squidward attempted to fend off that thing, and then it killed him, but probably not, probably not...

I especially love how you referenced the dead children photos in a way that naturally fit into the story, rather than just being slapped on there for cheap shock value. I also love how the concert scene didn't overstay it's welcome while still being able to show how devastating it was for Squidward.
@Neo-Filthy Frank Putting in pictures of dead children is ust edgy garbage, not the compelling psychological horror this video is trying to do.
@@neo-filthyfrank1347 im.. not sure what could make one say something like this.
@Neo-Filthy Frank Ffs
@@neo-filthyfrank1347 why?
@@neo-filthyfrank1347 garbage take, dead children does not make a story better, it just makes it more edgy and unrealistic. This one was good because it was real and genuine and had story behind it. putting dead children not only doesn't fit in the story, its just utter garbage
4:06 The way you implemented the iconic screen is so well done
Yeah, it especially works since in this one, Squidward actually has emotion in his face instead of just a blank expression.
So son
My mom without makeup💀💀
Red Mist also refers to the blood spray when someone gets shot, and at some point in this creepypasta, it shows Squidward’s bloody body. All the other SpongeBob creepypasta videos are so crappy…but YOUR VIDEOS…they’re different. I’m subscribing.
I remember reading this one years back and thinking it was nothing more than a dark and twisted story, and that's it, still scary, but this rendition depicts the downward spiral of depression so well, and that journey from the mind to the hands is just a block away, I know because last month I tried to end my life and let me tell you, if anyone reading this comment is thinking about it, please don't, you have no idea how loved you are before hand, but when I got out of the hospital and held by my closest friends and family, that's when I realized who I almost left behind and how loved I truly am, and you are too, please trust me when I say this, seek help and keep breathing
This is what red mist could have been. This feels way more scarier then the actual Creepypasta it’s self. The fact the unfinished animation and voice acting makes it more creepy and so uncanny. It reminds a lot of the analog that this decade is going through. There’s more detail. I feel like this is similar to the sonic.exe situation where someone made it an entire analog series off of it. And it was actually good. This is really good.
Oh, Needlemouse sir
This seems a lot more accurate to the version I read myself. It also has just… you know… That vibe of “this was never supposed to be seen with human eyes” you get me?
Follow up: In the other versions, nobody included the dead kids, or squidward burning in hell at the end. The conversation between SpongeBob and Patrick seems much sadder than it was in the story. I love it! This is better than the original.
@@Legandary490 Agreed.
this... THIS IS PEAK. this is the best re-take ever effing awesome dude
Had me hooked til the end! The way you made the red mist appear like this mysterious anomaly, affecting not just Squidward, but the entire town, is so cool. I'd really like to see what you could do with this if you ever decide to expand on the story.
this has to be the best red mist retake, it shows how serious a situation like this is instead of just trying to scare the shit out of you, this did the red mist creepypasta justice
Spongebob episodes be silly as hell and randomly get a shot like this 5:29
word
I loved it!! Bro it's so good and creepy at the same time. Keep up the amazing work. 👏👏
This is... thank you for making this. it's brilliant.
Scary, heart wrenching and an incredibly realistic rendition instead of being edgy for the sake of it, I have no words, this is a masterpiece dude. I love it 100000000/10
Hearing SpongeBob walking in to see Squidward dead followed by sirens just fucking broke me. I'm going through my own shit and it's always the fact that you know what pain the people closest to you will go through if you choose to give up. But just as importantly so, the tone of this entire video puts into perspective how fucking terrifying death is. This video may have genuinely scared me away from ending it. And for that, I may just have to thank you if I ever come back later.
@Tree vlogs yea I'm okay. I appreciate you asking
Life is worth living even if you're not loved by people, sometimes it's even better to not be loved by some certain groups of people
@@TSwany good you are
Do not be afraid of the inevitable
@Astral Guard I like the idea, but not appropriate to say to someone who's struggling with suicidal thoughts.
The Ending made it feel like more season one when spongebob felt other emotions apart from happiness
Translation of the scenes with no context 0:29 squidward: i wonder who that could be 0:34 squidward: hello! 1:14 squidward: can you two barnacle heads quit it!!! 1:20 spongebob: sorry squidward! 2:28 random fish: boo you stink 2:33 squidward: wait! wait! 3:03 squidward: i guess life isnt what it seems... 3:50 squidward: its probably just in my head! right? 4:17 squidward: AAAAAAHH!!! WHO GOES THERE!!!!!!! 4:46 squidward: I GUESS THERES ONLY ONE WAY OUT
Holy. Shit. This right here. -> 5:24 The tragedy, the distortion, the music, the visual, the tension.. It is painfully beautiful. Well done.
imagine if this vid was posted back in 2013, would absolutely terrorize everyone
It feels like your at the top of an attraction and the horror is about to beggin
When ever you can hear SpongeBob shout “SQUIDWARD!” right before it happens.
@Smuggend im talking about if this video, the way it is, was posted way before, how would the video magically edit itself?
agreed
The Red Mist in this version looks like a symbolism for all the dark thoughts and negative emotions of our minds. All the things that sometimes don't even exist anywhere except inside of our heads that can strike us to the extreme any time, but only if we let them do.
Lobotomy corp red mist fans when they click a video titled red mist and get bombarded with paranoia and eternal nightmares instead:
It’s sad how SpongeBob and Patrick miss squidward
Not gonna lie, this absolutely mops the floor with both the original Red Mist and Squidward’s Suicide! My biggest gripe with SS/RM (besides the constant tense-swapping, the intern bs, and pretty much everything) was that there wasn’t much to it. It was just done to shock you. You took Squidward’s… well, suicide, and gave it an actual impact. You gave Red Mist a proper ending. Good work man!
"mops the floor"
@@atlrvrse Well, they’re certainly gonna have to mop the floor after they find Squidward’s body.
1:01 bro really saw the devil and went "boo-womp" 💀💀
I wonder if he reacted differently, maybe Red Mist would've had a different effect
@@Mel0nCake404 knowing squidward probably he actually didnt care
bro really said "the fog is coming"
5:50 scene is so calming and sad😢

The music at the end where SpongeBob and Patrick share a heartfelt conversation between each other in regards to Squidward's suicide is so calming. It's like seeing the light at the end of a very dark tunnel.
When I saw SpongeBob and Patrick’s conversation I just Started Tearing up. Back in 2014 I lost a Good Friend to Suicide , I miss her dearly. This is good example of how bad life is in certain situations. Thank you for making this! ❤
Thank you I'm so sorry for your loss, I hope her family and you is doing well
Holy shit I cried to this. Thank you for making this. It perfectly programs Squidward and depression let alone suicidal thoughts. Much love my friend.
