  • Hi Evan, such a great video in so many ways. I loved the introduction and I loved your choice of music throughout. A couple of questions and observations. 1. If the car were dirtier would you have used a 3 bucket wash...1 bucket being for the tires alone? 2. Why don't you "wring" the "mitt" off when you put it in the rinse bucket?. 3. Do you always use a foam cannon? I have one but don't always use it. Admittedly sometimes lazy but my theory is that you need it more for a perfect surface...like you have here than you do a dirtier car. Your thoughts? Great job. You are a way undervalued You Tube star detailer. You do a fantastic job on all your productions. Thanks so very much. Phil.

    @lead-dog@lead-dog3 жыл бұрын
    • Thanks! Yes you should technically be using three buckets every time if you are washing the wheels. If you use gyeon tire and wheel or brake buster as a touchless solution or just rinsing then no need to waste water but if you plan to use brushes like wheel woolies then definitely a third bucket. You could certainly wring the mitt out but you wouldn't remove to much dirt that way only extra water. Submerging the pad in water and scrubbing it against the grit guard is what really cleans out dirt from the pad. I often scrub it against the wash bucket grit gaurd too. If your washing a very dirty car having a second wash pad can be helpful. Just swap it in when the first pad seems to dirty to safely continue. Always foam the car. Especially if you have the equipment and a pressure washer. The foam loosens dirt so it comes off easier and is softer. It also adds tremendous lubrication. No matter the dirt level we want the dirt to be easier to remove and have lots of lubrication. Remember you usually cause the most damage and swirls when you think its not dirty and do the fast version. Thats the slippery slope to watch out for! Thanks so much for watching and the great questions! So many videos still to come!

      @STATUSDETAIL@STATUSDETAIL3 жыл бұрын
  • Excellent video. However, you need to get a second wash pad for the lower sections. During multiple parts of the video, you wash the lower sections of the door or behind the front fenders and then run that pad over the top surfaces of the vehicle. That introduces swirls. All top sections washed first with one pad and then a lowers are done last with a different pad.

  • How do you decide when to pre-wash with a foam cannon to start out removing grime more gently vs starting with a pressure washer? Or do You never worry about scratching the car using the pressure washer first, regardless of dirt? Very classy intro, by the way. Love it.

    @androidery1999@androidery1999 Жыл бұрын
    • Thanks! You can always rinse first. No harm in that. Pre foam every time if you have the time and money to pay for the extra products. But I'd typically only pre foam when car is extra dirty. Then rinse again. The foam again and contact wash

      @STATUSDETAIL@STATUSDETAIL Жыл бұрын
  • I love the tips and insights you give. I always use 3 buckets when washing. All of them with gritt guards. I also use different washmitts for the top, bottom sections of the car and another one for the wheels. Now, washing a coated car is very nice, but how about a car with poor protection or no paint protection whatsoever? You can’t help swirling up the paint at that point? I’d love to get your advice on that. Greetings from Belgium 🇧🇪

    @nickvanaerde5365@nickvanaerde53653 жыл бұрын
    • Your doing an amazing job nick! Especially the multiple wash mitts for different parts of car! That's excellent!! You wash a non coated car the exact same way as the video. A non waxed or ceramic coated car will hold onto the dirt more. Meaning after your rinse the level of dirt will be higher. More dirt means more potential swirls when you add friction like from a wash pad. So using multiple wash pads or even a bunch of microfibers per section will help to not reintroduce the dirt to the car. A good foam cannon setup helps too. More lubrication means we can soften and loosen the dirt. The reality is if your doing it all right... you probably love your car and at least have wax or ceramic sealant on it. Meaning non of this is an issue. If your washing q fully unprotected car you probably also only have one wash pad one bucket and no pressure washer. Thats a swirled out car no matter what lol. Sidebar. The tricky part about unprotected cars is drying. I'd recommend a large drying towel and to lay it on car pat dry and remove. Don't drag it. Or just slowly air dry. Then please put some wax on it lol. You can also use wetcoat from gyeon after the wash during final rinse to add touchless ceramic sealant and then be able to properly dry with air. Checkout statusdetailstore.com for some of the mentioned products 👍

    @ohhdanni9422@ohhdanni9422 Жыл бұрын
    • Depends how dirty it is. If it's really dirty do a pre foam. Rinse that off. Foam again. Then contact. If car isn't that dirty the rinse should be enough. Especially on ceramic. If you want to use extra materials you can foam. Twice everytime

  • In the middle of winter - freezing temperatures 10 and below - would pressure wash/rinse at the self serve car wash be smart? and call it a day with the ceramic coating ? Almost like a quick remove salt and dirt? What do you recommend for the freezing months with out access to pressure wash unless u go to the self serve car wash. Thanks

    @fabioromero3687@fabioromero3687 Жыл бұрын
    • That's a great idea. And bring your own bucket and wash pad. Some wetcoat or hydro too for fast winter protection But do your best to pick a 32-40 degree day. You don't want to be out there in 10 degrees. It won't be fun you won't do a good job and it's going to freeze if the hoses even work. Winter is usually when we wash poorly because it's uncomfortable to wash correctly.

    @oliverradcliffe7974@oliverradcliffe7974 Жыл бұрын

  • So are you snow foaming the car and then using normal soap like gyeon bathe to wash the car on top of the snowfoam that's there? This is of course after you've either rinsed one coating of snow off already or if you think one coating of snow foam is enough to agitate with pad and shampoo Edit: Nevermind, I think you topped up a wash bucket with water in with snowfoam to get some extra soap in there when agitating the snowfoam with the pad. I assume you rinse that off and then use a shampoo?

  • Personally I’d never be comfortable (even with a ceramic coated car) with just rinsing then straight to a contact wash with foam….you’re putting a lot of trust in the foam/your technique not to rub the remaining ~20% of dirt into the paint. I would go rinse, foam with a prewash snow foam, rinse that and then use a shampoo. There’s also a school of thought that pre rinsing will make a snow foam less effective/dilute it down but that’s a whole thorny issue!
