Don't feel weird about seeing her! I saw her on the K-12 tour front row but I was surrounded by a bunch of teenage girls and usually I'd feel uncomfortable but they were actually really nice and didn't make me feel judged or anything as a grown man that loves Melanie lmao

I saw her in Glasgow for the portals tour, there were soo many young people but quite a few older people too. I don't think anybody feels out of place. ❤
I don't think the flower closing ws supposed to mean something bad like "suffocating her" , but that she has found her place and she was finally accepted by something, in this case by a flower
I think Faerie Soiree is another interpretation for drugs. "Trick you, you really want to stay," and "Ride with the magic, lose sight of the gravity of home." Is the effects of drugs and how it feels when you take them. You feel like your flying. "Lips of sugar, I'm breathing your pheromones again." aka inhalation of drugs. Basically the song is about drugs, with "Powder" as another song about drugs.
Both songs have one meaning about drogs,but they're not only about drugs and it's not the special meaning.
Also “scratching this carcass like dogs with the fleas” sounds like it’s referring to a symptom of withdrawal. Plus “somewhere on Venus they’re searching for me” most likely referring to everyone in her life being concerned for her safety and looking for them.
@@Salukichow About the "Somewhere on Venus they're searching for me" I totally agree. She gets sad because of missing them and then she gets purificated of all this sadness from this and from thinking in her past life(and past lives in general) because of them in Light Shower 💞💗✨️
to add to this at the end of the song, all of the faeries collapse to the ground which i interpreted as them overdosing and melanie being the only one remaining realises she has to change how she's living

How I personally interpret it, is the faerie soirée is an escape, an intoxicating greener grass on the other side, and she wanted to give into it. The switch up is her coming back to a reality, knowing she has a higher purpose and then she embraces that
OMG THAST EXACTLY WHAT I GOT FROM THE VIDEO AND THE SONG TOO 😭 at first, i thought that the song was about drug abuse, since in her chorus, she says: "Blue stars running down my forehead ... Mushroom everywhere I'm turning" and her and her bg dancers put a needle connected to a tube in their arm and exhale. and then, at the end, when the dancers fall down, she climbs onto the flower and lets it cover her up, which to me, seems like she found an escape to the "fun"

DEFINITELY!!! I always interpreted this song as dissociation, about not knowing where you come from or where you belong or should be and ending up looking for a solution to that in drugs.

What I got from this video. Was escapism. Drug abuse etc to make you enjoy that high and “ Dance till you drop” very much a party… the second part to that is the actual addiction and how easy you can get stuck in that loop and how tempting it can be when surrounded by ppl who also want to escape. when they fell “ party being over” Mel was able to escape the temptation from the fairies.. and go home. She regained control and found her path as “ she was lead astray”. The flower symbolizes her home. She’s now able to rest and relax and recharge.
Also EDIT: in the end of tunnel vision Mel landed in a fairie circle.. why she woke up in a new place surrounded by fairies dancing.. fairies are known to make you dance till you fall.. it’s also a bad omen hint the being misguided, lead astray.. tempted by substance.. but Mel eventually found her way back.

That entire interlude at the beginning, A lot of people just hear it as noise- She's actually singing "Parida, Parida" which Literally means birth in Portugese- I had always expected that part between Tunnel Vision and Faerie Soiree to be her accepting that her past life is gone and being reborn as the creature.

i usually analyze the music videos because melanie is really artistic and uses a lot of metaphorical lyrics and imagery. when a flower closes up it is for protection and it is a process called nyctinasty, higher plants protecting from darkness while "going to sleep." melanie has explained in the summary of light shower "sitting on the roof of my garage, imagining what it would feel like while the warmth of the sun was hitting me. A few weeks later I sat in my bathtub with my guitar and stayed up all night writing a love song about this light, in order to create layered meaning." the flower is so high because the warmth of the sun is beaming on her. she also said "There is a place in the afterlife people under hypnosis describe as a soul cleansing or a shower of light. A place where gem-colored rays of light shine through every inch of your soul." putting it altogether, she is going to a dark place but is protected and it will be filled with light, because she is the light.

I am a 55 year old man who is going to go see Melanie on the Trilogy Tour in Dallas on May 25th! I can't wait and I am taking my 27 year old son with me. Long story short is that I discovered Melanie through the song "Death" from the Portals album and the song literally saved my life - due to the fact that my wife of 35+ years died just 3 months from the time I first heard the song and first discovered Melanie and the song, the album, all her stuff just speaks to me. She has become, dare I say, my therapist. ::)
People of all ages love Melanie, so it won't be strange for you to attend one of her concerts. I know there are some parents taking their kids. You should go or you will wish you had! It will be such a cool experience since its going to be a trilogy of all 3 of her albums. Its going to be huge! You shouldn't miss out on it! I will also be going to see her in Houston 2nd row seats! I just know it will be one of the best days of my life. :)

The way I interpret the song is she's being taken away by the fae. A creature of European folklore (where the modern term 'fairy' evolved from) who entices and hypnotises people, traps them in their circle, forces them to dance, etc. They can be described as anything from playful and mischievous to deadly. And I interpret the needles (which shocked me on first watch not gonna lie lol) as wanting to connect with the earth and it's magic, right into their veins. Or you could also interpret the song as a mushroom trip... I think it's an amalgamation of a lot of things with Melanie's twist on it. She's just creating her own unique magical world!
My interpretation of the song is about tripping on pychedelics. (mushrooms everywhere I'm turning) It can initially be awe-inspiring and spiritually awakening, but like any other drug, can easily lead to addiction and unhealthy escapism. Another thought I had was also on DMT people report having euphoric experiences and seeing elves (faeries maybe in this case?)

I went to a concert to see Bryan Ferry, (a famous english musician who's been performing since the early 1970s'), and I was just 17 at the time, amongst crowds of hundreds of mostly middle aged and older people there, and I'm pretty sure I was the only person my age attending. My personal experience was so amazing and wholesome since the older fans there were encouraging me to have a good time, and they LOVED seeing someone my age who genuinely enjoys the older rock classics. I'm currently 22, and it was my first concert and one of my most treasured memories to date. So, I truly believe that if it were the opposite way around in your case, that you too will have a wonderful time if you ever did catch one of Melanie's concerts, which I still hope to one day do too!!

I teared up watching this because I too want to wash myself clean of this life and blossom into a whimsical clean experience. Somewhere without worldly troubles and darkness and with far less pain and confusion. Somewhere where there are mushroom trees and no concrete jungle and pink nourishing waters.

From what i know this album is about past life regression. Especially in the last part of the song i belive she is talking about her past lives and how she is gathering them up. The way you get excited and follow the story is just so sincere I would love if you could give a listen to DPR Ian, to hear your analysis and what you can share from your knowledge to his narravite. And just to give you a litte bit of context, he is an australian-korean musician, started as a dancer, then became part of a kpop group, after disbanding started a company with his friend Dabin (DPR or Dream Perfect Regime) and they used to do the edition for other artists, until Dabin was able to debut as their first soloist under the name DPR Live and years later Ian did the same Ian has bipolar disorder and then he also shared he had been diagnosticated with disociative identity disorder, and he uses his music and his visuals to share part of what has been life for him, how he views and understands the world and also presenting us with these alter egos that are a real part of his live, such as MITO, but also just characters he is using to develop the story he is presenting with his music, such as Green. His music also tends to interwine with the other artists under the DPR Crew, but it can get confusing and the organization of the group itself has changed a lot recently, so starting just with Ian's MV's and music would be just perfect If you do read this and decide to give DPR Ian's music a try, honestly you can start with whatever you found interesting based on titles or MV's thumbnails, but if you maybe wanted to start from release dates, even though the story is not necesary lineal, you can definitely understand the evolution of Ian as an artist this way, then you should start with So Beautiful, or the full album which is named "Moodswings In This Order", and also, maybe not for a reaction but just for you to have an understanding before watching the videos and everything, you can watch his MITO Documentary, "Memories in Disorder" Thank you to anybody who read this really long comment and maybe decided to listen to Ian, and again thanks for the great reaction!
