these damn things are so easy to come by until the one master hunter challenge rolls around; then it's like i swear they reduce the damn spawn rate
I had them pop out quite a few times during the challenge but the mfs would scare the shit out my horse each time no matter where i was so i had to die or not get the bow kill quite a bit but eventually i finally got them all and the challenge is done. I just have a feeling though that now every time i go through Elizabeth, ima have a cougar up my horse again. Cant win in the challenges or in free roam with those cougars.

Go back and forth between the trapper areas of the west and east... Got 5 kills w Bow no problem. Matter of fact this is my 4th playthrough and I now use nothing BUT the bow and improved arrows

The trick is to spawn one, kill it, skin it, then move on and so something else, wait 3 in game days and come back
I find it crazy how rdr2 goes into so much detail that it is a literal working ecosystem, with predators and prey
I’m still amazed by this game, more games could be a lot better if they didn’t try to rush out a new title every year. We curse Rockstar for taking so long, but they hardly ever disappoint imo

Yeah, R* is unparalleled in their world building and detail. Their open worlds are phenomenally crafted, which makes their mission design so damn frustrating. _”Go here, push a, go here, plant dynamite”._ The game literally tells you how to play it and holds you by the hand every step of the way. Step out of line? MISSION FAILED. It’s a damn shame they don’t allow players to think for themselves.
They did it even better than Far Cry while it’s not even one of the core mechanics.

Wait until you do the master hunter challenges. When you get to ten, the legendary panther stalks you in the woods and you can’t see shit until it attacks. On my third try, I loaded my gun with explosive bullets
I remember that mission, it was by far the scariest hunt I have been in. I entered the cave with my double barrel shot gun and a lantern. After the puma killed the other dude, I pulled out my double barrel and couldn’t see shit. Dude snuck up behind me and I fired a shot and missed, then he pounced at me and at the last second I hit him with the final bullet mid air and survived. Freaking scary
I HATE that mission lol. It scares the hell out of me and I usually have to try about 2 times before I get it.
I was an early player but fell off the game. Revisiting it after the new GTA trailer. I'm guessing you guys are speaking about the Legendary Panther. I haven't even opened up Black Water yet. This excites me 😁.
@@amirkhusroohamid9705 No lol. The white cougar is part of the debt collecting missions. There is someone who owes a debt to Strauss (well, the gang), who tells you that the pelt from a white cougar will pay it off, so you have to go with him to hunt the cougar down. It's scary as all hell, lol! 😭
The boogeyman of rdr2. The only animal that actually scared me when j started the game. Try to hunt them near brandy wine drop on foot in the night and with rain and without auto aim and you got a horror game 😀
The game says to use poison arrows for perfect kills but literally a regular arrow does the job.

Its so fun to hunt these things along with grizzlies because i feel like i am the one being hunted half the time
I saw one between Annesburg and Van Horn in that bit by the shore if you are familiar. A black bear was first then I scared it up the shore toward a cougar who then chased it into the water and swatted it on the ass with its paw. One of the funniest things I have seen in game.
In my first play through I underestimated the grizzly based on my previous experiences with black bears who run away most of the time. Grizzly bears attack every time.

The cougars were easy for my hunter challenges cause they spawn instant for me, the only hard thing about them for me is that I can’t study/track for my compendium because my horse scares and runs away I get away but my weapons are left on the horse and I die

The cougar next to brandywine drop will actually follow all the way up to charlottes house I can’t find it up brandywine so I just pass through and go up to the waterfall wait until it charges and then shoot it with a bolt action
These mfs only spawn when I’m hunting something OTHER than them. One of them killed me while I was trying to find a perfect elk. Finally found it, had the shot lined up? Then I get tackled by a giant cat.
Deadeye is VERY helpful when you’re faced with one of these things.

I know it's been a while, but if you're doing the master hunter challenge, just go to the trapper in west Elizabeth and go towards the road, you're gonna find one, kill it and take the body too, go to sell it, then go to camp and sleep three times, and repeat, it's pretty easy

I love this Game for what it provides and I love so much the Wildlife it has here in one of the most realistic view in any other game about animals. Only here and on far cry 4 I ever saw the most enhanced close to real life Wildlife picture especially about predators. I wish we had also and other predators here and via mods we could play as a tiger , as a leopard or as a zebra that is being hunted or an elephant or as an anaconda. No matter the Notsuitable Environment. As an excuse there should be a zoo to have these species and we were able to play as any animal from outside rest world we love to see and have so cool entertainment and also educational moments inside this Special Game!

I killed them for perfect pelt,but every time I get a two star pelt because I damage the pelt but I always hit there head with poison arrow and rifle what is the problem?
The cougars you were killing may have only been 2 stars to begin with. You'll need to hunt the Legendary Buck & obtain the Buck Antler Trinket. That can provide you with perfect quality pelts even from 2-star animals.
