I found this whilst looking for music for my Mum's funeral. We lost Dad the previous year during lockdown, and because we couldn't celebrate his life as we had hoped to, this was the PERFECT song to celebrate Mum & Dad being reunited in Christ. I love this!

Incredible harmony. Not easy harmony either. A fervent, beautiful arrangement. Sound recordist did a perfect job. Church acoustics are perfect Thankyou men for sharing the joy. Just gorgeous.
FYI the tune is by Jean Sibelius, the great Finnish composer. Check out his symphonies. It was originally in his tone-poem "Finlandia." It is an important patriot for Finns.

One of the most haunting and beautiful melodies I've ever heard. Goes right through me. I still weep when I hear it- even sans words . . .
Composition by Finnish Jean Sibelius (1865-1957). Finland's national composer. The lyrics we Finns now know as the Finlandia hymn are very patriotic, but they were written over 40 years later than the music, during the 40's when our nation was struggling to remain independent. He didn't mean any of it to be sung originally, but he was ok with it "if the world needs to sing so let them". He wrote a lot of great music. I think you might like Valse Triste (instrumental). (I only learned about this hymn Be still my soul a few years back from a movie of a TV show.)

I first remember hearing this song sung during the funeral of a classmate in high school. He passed away in a car accident his senior year and we sang this at his funeral in 2005. Ever since, whenever I hear this song I think of Ryan. This arrangement is exceptionally beautiful and I am so glad that I stumbled upon it!

@@misst.e.a.187 No disagreements here on that. There's been a couple appeals to make this our national anthem even. That is because this is potentially even more patriotic / endearing to us than our actual current national anthem and that's very well-liked as well. I would recommend hearing this with its original Finnish lyrics as well. It is a very powerful hymn.

This might offer comfort. I heard Pope Francis answer a little boy's question about his late father, an unbeliever who still had his children baptized. The Holy Father said that God would want such a good loving heart near Him. I'm not Catholic but I think this pope is a holy man with spiritual insight. Without coming out in so many words he was saying God sees a person's heart regardless of the outward signs we see in others.
