Zack was literally THE perfect character to insert into these dying worlds because of his relentless optimism and unwillingness to give up hope. I loved what they did with him in Rebirth and big ups to Caleb Pierce on by far his best performance as Zack yet

I can't imagine what it's like for Zack to hear Biggs talk about Cloud like he's a badass and Marlene to say that Aerith knows and likes Cloud. He is missing so much context but he's rolling with it.

I think what makes Zack such a fan favorite the story is because he’s the most humane and relatable among all the main characters. He’s the Shonen protagonist in a Seinen story.

I felt that especially when Genesis was reciting Loveless whilst Zack was screaming him to shut up. The way he couldn’t fathom Angeal’s actions as he stood over his mothers corpse, straight up clocking him in the face. Zack really is a simple guy in a complicated world.

After watching Zack's scenes, I just feel so empty. He is so pure and doesn't deserve all these things. I really hope Aerith wakes up and they can live together.... Don't tell me I'm the only one who has these feelings for him 😢😢.

Same here guys. I just hope Aerith and Zack can get back together again. Zack looks sad when Marlene said Aerith have feelings for Cloud. But then again, kids can say stuff that aren't true and random stuff. Trust me, I know, coz I've been with kids before in Sunday school, teaching them and all at church. Also, the way Aerith say to Cloud and Tifa to enjoy their date sounds like she seems happy. And if people are saying that Aerith is being jealous of Cloud and Tifa's relationship, she's not. She's jealous of them because she doesn't have anyone to hang out with, coz she's told not to talk to anyone, because anyone can be Shinra spy. Either way, I hope Zack and Aerith can rekindle their love for each other

I like the VA's voice now. I wonder why. That line from Marlene. "She likes him" and "cause you weren't there". That hit him hard.
I heard for Crysis Core it was a rush job, but for here they were giivng more time. He sounds more naturally, less nasal and just right. I still prefer Rick, but I don't mind the new VA at all now
I think his direction this time wasn't to try to sound like Rick because a lot of times you could hear he was trying to nail those same beats but it was kinda awkward. It's way more natural. Same reason I feel like Sephiroth's VA is much better this time around and not trying to sound exactly like Newbern
This really does illustrate how insanely tough Zack is. He treks all the way to Midgar, dodging Shinra patrols the entire way (over the course of weeks to months, incidentally defeating Angeal and Genesis en route) fights a Shinra battalion and survives, then makes it into the city and engages two helicopter-equipped forces. The last must have happened in the span of the same day or two. This is also a no-good, very bad, terrible week for him.
And all that after 4-5 years of being experimented on after Nibelheim…
Honestly, that's why I don't blame him for crying. That's a burden no one should ever have to shoulder 😢
Thank you Square Enix for blessing us with an hour of new Zack scenes.

I like cloud too, but zack's persona is very charismatic like sunshine. his comments towards every situation is hilarious. My favorite line from him was when angeal said he's after" world domination" and not wasting a beat zack replied, "That's not even funny man". Love that delivery. I'm gonna be honest when I played the original game I didn't care for him but in remake and rebirth and crisis core you see how amazing zack is compared to cloud

@Adanu191 as an action game player FF7R 1 and 2's gameplay is molasses. I may be spoiled by the likes of Bayonetta, Devil May Cry and Neir but I tell ya... 7R gameplay style is not it. And swaping characters isnt that exciting when they all Sluggish too. For an Action-RPG Crisis Core reunion/KH is still superior in those terms.

It’s only the ability to dodge / negate damage that’s real suffering in these games. They gave yuffie some but it doesn’t really work that great considering the lack of dodge cancel

I think I'm starting to understand the plot of the ff7 remake. Timeline of the OG FF7 has been altered thanks to Aerith and Sephiroth. Whispers are the ones that changes the whole timeline. There's 2 worlds: Cloud and Zack's. Sephiroth is HUNTING for Aerith because he knew how dangerous she is. Spiritually, she's going to stop the meteor. That's why when she died in Cloud's timeline, she can freely move to the timeline where Zack is. Its very confusing so I guess thats all I have.
I think it's more than that. I believe she could go into both timelines. The difference is in Cloud's, he is the only one that can see her. In Zack's, she can interact with anyone. Just my guess
So what happened to the Aerith in Zack’s timeline?

Some folks complain that Zack's addition is pointless... BUT DID YOU SEE WHAT THEY DID TO BIGGS!? Put Biggs at the end of remake, add him to the rebirth trailers only for mis-direction and red herrings, then have him around for 10 min. and they kill him again 😭... should have just let Biggs die at the tower, at least he would've gotten a hero's death.
I mean, it did ultimately serve a small purpose: it tipped off Zack that things weren't what they seemed to be as it quickly becomes apparent to him that the Cloud that Biggs knows is not the same Cloud that Zack knows. It also lets us as the player know that Biggs was somehow shifted to whatever timeline him and Zack are currently in as he clearly knows the Cloud we all know, and that whatever happened to Biggs is likely the reason why Zack is alive.

So you notice how there was that one world where Zack chooses to go to Hojo instead of Biggs and the Biggs option closes off with weird rainbow lights. That one seems to end with Cloud and Aerith as a couple getting their photo taken. Then there’s the world where Zack does go to Biggs. We know it’s different because the chip bag is different. They use Stamp to denote the difference in the worlds. Remember the end of Remake had an alternative version of Stamp on the chip bag that flew past Zack when he survived. We see the same Stamp at the start of Rebirth, but the Biggs scene has a white Stamp instead- it’s completely different. So… I’m really not sure what the hell is happening because there’s just so many different things going on, but I assume that’s what they mean by “Biggs isn’t dead” There is at least three different worlds that we see, but I assume even more as all of the Zack endings seem to have a different world associated with them. The Hojo, the Biggs, the Aerith one where he goes to the church.

Future Sephiroth wants to change his fate. He got control of black whispers. White Whispers are being controlled by future Aerith at planet's will. While Sephiroth fights in canon timeline, he is also looking for the future Aerith who manifests the world's will. Aerith was hidden in a "world" that accepted its fate. Zack's world is dying, perhaps because Sephiroth does not see a challenge there.

@MarcoLancaster Really, it's showing that the timeline is the way it is for a reason, and the consequences of changing it is that things don't work out. Essentially, it's a slap across the face to the people who insisted that "you could change x thing in ffvii and get the same results." The truth is that you can't. And yes, a lot of the compilation delves into why that specific group is successful, and emphasizes especially a few things. Cloud and Aerith alone could not have saved the world. Sephiroth realized that hence why the world is just waiting for its death.

Okay. So I think I get why Zack's cutscenes are a bit confusing and jumping around. It's because we're dealing with at least 5 timelines here. Here are the timelines based on the stars on the different Stamps. ⭐⭐⭐- Chihuahua (Cloud/Aerith date) 37:14 ⭐⭐⭐⭐- Terrier (Zack in shinra building) 12:55 / 35:51 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐- Beagle (the OG party/Remake) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐- Pug (The Biggs choice) 37:48 Last one is, I think, a Corgi. The stuffed toy that Johnny was holding here at 41:19 The Corgi is a different timeline confirmed by Zack's dialogue after Johnny ran. This is the version of Zack that fought Sephiroth alongside Cloud at the edge of creation. If this is true, we're in for a hella confusing ride on the third game. (In the next 3 years or so 🙃)

I still want to believe that Zack has a higher purpose and not just someone there in the background looking on. I doubt Cloud can save Aerith from Sephiroth because the paths they take might be different but their destination is remain the same and Sephiroth wouldn't allow Cloud to defy his destiny since Cloud didn't take his offer. Their fates remains unchanged unlike Zack and Briggs that are shown in Rebirth. Zack has to be the one who save Aerith from Sephiroth

Rewatching these i love the relationships between zack and everyone is so different from cloud and the same people. Almyra sees zack as a good guy and marlene is not actually scared of him, he just generally brings hope to good vibes to everyone. Even Yuffie says how great a guy he was when she was a kid and how cissnie even stopped being a turk because of him i even loved some stuff that was breifly mention like he trains super hard in his hidden gym. Also while cloud does the bombing zack tries to stop biggs because he genuinly cares for people. I really want to see him interact with the main party.
