I Caught SO MANY Vampire Fish From The Carp Lake W/This Rig!

2024 ж. 14 Сәу.

It was time for one last attempt at catching a PB Vampire (zander) from the carp lake before the warmer weather! I roped in a friend of mine (Darren) to join me in trying to catch a big zed. We were using small dead baits and covering as much water as we could. I decided to integrate a feeder into my fishing packed with smelly groundbait and fish, but would it be enough?!

  • Great video chris! Here in the netherlands fishing for zander is HUGE. Fishing for them is the best here in the big rivers, bigger lakes and even in the cities. A tip to improve better hooking is to use smaller baits. You can easily cut a single baitfish in two, maybe even three slices.

  • A good few years back I experimented with a cage feeder packed with mashed tinned Pilchard/Sardine whilst deadbaiting, I didn't notice much difference in pick up rates (f all as opposed to f all) but I did have a heated argument with a live aboard boater who acccused me of polluting the river (I must admit the slicks I produced made it appear as though the Exxon Valdiz had gone down in the river...) 'Listen mate, that is fish oil, organic, natural, unlike the mineral and synthetic oil 💩 that you lot have no qualms about pumping into the river!'* *I didn't know whether to capitalise this as it was shouted across the Thames... Great video as always. Tight lines everyone!

I think essentially if they're established and low chance of escaping to spread, they're fine. Obviously waters can remove them if undesired.

    @differentfins@differentfinsАй бұрын
    • It's because they don't want folks casting all around the fishery while the predominant focus of the lakes is carp fishing. I fish a complex that allows lure fishing from nov1 to the last day of feb, but its mainly because the rest of the year has too many carp anglers on it and there is essentially no room to cast around.

    • Hi. Zander tend to be more finicky. They also have much smaller mouths which are really boney. Low light/ dusk can be a good time as they use their amazing eyesight. I’ve done well on 3rd of a small roach on a very long hair on a fluro hooklength and a size 10 Mixa hook. I use a light feeder rod with a quiver tip so they feel as little initial resistance as possible. Zander cannot be stocked into lakes, I believe the only lake that has a license for this is Houchins Fishable Lakes just outside Colchester. No doubt I’ll be told I’m wrong on most or all that I’ve written!

      @TheMortalKombatent@TheMortalKombatentАй бұрын
    • Yes they are invasive, but so are carp. Carp have a much more ecological effects on a body of water due to their feeding behavior and people baiting heavily to fish for them. Here in the Netherlands we have them all of our waters for decades now as long as they are turbid or deep enough. We have basically the same species of fish as you.
