Hello, WinExperts!
In the past, I uploaded videos about startups and shutdowns of Microsoft Windows versions. But there are a lot of mistakes I have made in the videos.❌✅
I am sorry for that but that's why I made this video! In this video, I am going to correct all the startup and shutdown sounds of Windows versions.
Mostly I added these sounds because it is less repetitive and very inspirational.
Not all the Windows Versions will appear in this video only the most important ones. I will correct all the fake startup/shutdown sounds with a little explanation.
I am not sure when the video will be published about the REAL startup and shutdown sounds but it will come soon!

  • Small correction: Windows 3.0 DOES have a startup sound, but it only gets added when you install the Multimedia Extensions.

    • And, when you install special drivers through DOS, not through Windows setup, they need to have support for Windows 3.0, and even then, you can't have a sound play on startup or when you're ending you Windows session, or well, make a sound play when an event happens. You can only play MIDIs and WAVs through a program that should be installed in windows after the drivers are set up. There's that, too.

  • Even if the Longhorn sounds are faked, they still slap IMO, and to this day, i still use a longhorn sound theme on my machine. The calmness of those sounds (even the system ones, not only the startup sounds) is so much better than the default windows sounds from xp, 7 or 10.

  • Thanks for the correction! Your videos has a BIG Impact for people,people can finally realize that sounds that they uploaded are fake! Good job! :D Mistakes here: 1. Windows 3.0 has a startup and shutdown (also plenty of) sounds,after the MME Update 2. Windows 10X startup sound is an first time boot sound (OOBE Boot Sound),it doesn't play everytime we enter the os

  • Finally Windows Expert learns his errors! This is so cool!!!!!! Note: You did little mistakes: -Windows NT 5.0 Uses that fake startup from the Build 1671 to the build 1991 on Workstation and Server too, but it was still used the NT 4.0 sound in the builds 1393 to 1661 -The fake sound of Windows 1.01-3.0 is a fragment of the Windows 95 startup sound but high pitched -The fake Windows Whistler Shutdown sound is really a Startup sound taken from BeOS -The fake startup sound from S2003 is really from an animation of the mentioned OS -IDK why i feelted that Windows 10X doesn’t have a Shutdown sound, plz some reply if it’s real or not -You committed (ooooooonceeeeee aaagaaaaaiiiin) some mistakes in the edition of the video: 2:24 It cuts of into a black screen, 3:59 the animation looked a little broken for me like if was reversed or smthing like tht (also i get realized that you misspelled the word while), 5:52 you replayed the shutdown sound instead of the startup, 9:42 10:07 and 10:32 you accidentally putted the correct startup sound instead of the Logon.wav sound

    • Windows 10X has close to the same sound scheme as Windows 11. However, they are not used (never heard any in the system), and located in Program Files. Shutdown sound does not exist, and the startup sound is not the OOBE sound as said in the video, but it probably should have been the BootUp.wav sound located in Program Files.

  • Minor correction. NT 5.0 used both of the aforementioned startup and shutdown sounds depending on what beta build you're looking at. Also, fun fact, that fake Longhorn startup and shutdown originated in a Samsung desktop theme found in Samsung OEM computers of the era.

    • No. Early 5.0 builds used 4.0 startup while later ones used the “5.0 startup” All the shutdown sounds are from NT 4.0 however

  • Great video! Though the Windows Longhorn startup sound didn't actually come from a Samsung phone, but rather a Samsung theme they made for Windows XP back in 2003 - 6 years before the Samsung Galaxy came out. Still, a great video nonetheless and thanks for setting the record straight and giving us the true Windows startup and shutdown sounds!!

  • That's quite a good breakdown, but you accidentally used the real sound for Windows 8 and 8.1 - this is exactly the sound that plays when the startup sound is enabled. The incorrect sound that you were probably referring to is Windows Logon Sound.wav, which is assigned to the Logon sound, but never initiated.

  • Also, the Windows 2000 build 1946 startup and shutdown sounds were used until build 1969. Build 2031 already includes the RTM startup & shutdown sounds. Also the error message at 4:00 had "while" misspelled as "whule"

  • Windows 8, 8.1, 10 and 11 and their server counterparts DO have their shutdowns but you'll have to manually need to do the hard work in the Registry and Event Viewer to regain that function. The Shutdown Sound file is in the Media Folder when you do your searching.

    • They have an existing .wav file of the shutdown but it was never used and Microsoft used a system file to play the startup and they never added the shutdown sound when they made the system file

  • There are errors in this video: - An MME version of Windows 3.0 actually used the bells sound as startup and water sound as shutdown. - Windows 98 startup sound was first used in build 1602, the Beta 2.1 build. - RTM version of the Windows 98 shutdown sound was first used in build 1687, the pre-RC build. The shutdown sound was also used in builds 1602-1681, albeit it's lower-pitched and longer. - Windows NT 5.0 bootscreen is on teal background, later on blue. And it's different. - The Windows NT 5.0 startup sound was used from build 1671 to build 1911. And it was used not only in Workstation, but in Server too. So the sound is actually real. - Not an error, but an explanation: Windows ME actually used Windows 98 sounds until build 2470, when build 2476 introduced the Windows 2000 RTM sounds. - At 5:52, the sound must be Windows 2000 RTM startup sound, not the shutdown one. - The fake Windows Server 2003 startup sound was used in Windows Server 2003 Animation.

    • There's another error in 10:07 . He used the real startup sound(Windows Vista/7), and not the fake startup sound(Windows 8 Logon). Edit: He did the same error with: Server 2012, and 8.1

    • No it isn't. Server 2003 in all countries use the Windows XP startup sound. Also, think of this: what is the point of making a startup sound for a server version of windows? It doesn't make sense. There was no country-specific version of windows until Microsoft was forced to make N and KN releases of windows XP. Also, there was no English UK option as a display language until Windows 8.

  • Small Fact: The Windows 2000 startup sound actually used the Windows 95 sound, the startup is for login and the shutdown sound for logout. Utopia Scheme is the same in Windows 2000, uses the 95 scheme one.

  • Finally you admit the mistakes, but some of mistakes are still going, I'm going to say the pros and cons. 1. Windows 1.x, 2.x and 3.0 (without MME) have no startup sound, it's a high pitched fragment of Windows 95 startup sound. 2. Windows 3.0 with MME is the first version to have startup and shutdown sounds. 3. And you forgot about Chicago, they have tada in both startup and shutdown. 4. Windows NT 4.0 startup isn't copyrighted, but you may be confused with NT 5.0 startup sound which it was used to be copyrighted by a Russian artist, I think you should use it anyway 5. Windows 98 build 1602 (beta 2.1) have the final Windows 98 Startup sound, but it have a long and low pitch shutdown 6. Windows 98 SE screens are fanmade, but it's a real OS 7. The NT 5.0 bootscreen what you've shown is a Windows 2000 mod. Build 1631 is the last build to use NT 4.0 sound and build 1671 uses its own sounds until Beta 3. 8. You're right in NT 5.0 Shutdown, it was used way up to 1911. 9. You're right in Windows Code Name Millennium, it used Windows 98 sounds way up to 2470, and 2476 introduces the 2000 RTM sounds. 10. Windows 2000 Beta 3 Fake Sounds: Windows 2000 Beta 3 fake sounds originated from ThemeWorld. 11. Windows 2000 Beta 3 Shutdown: The mistake what you've made in Windows 2000 Beta 3 shutdown, it's used from builds 1946 to 1969. Builds 1989 to 2000 used a different sound, which it sounds like the RTM but different. 12. Windows 2000: You forgot the startup for Windows 2000 in this video, the shutdown is real but disabled by default, which is odd why MS didn't. 13. Whistler Fake Startup: Oh, you forgot that weird sound from a Microsoft Entertainment Pack game which is after the Windows 98 shutdown sound before Windows 2000 builds 1989-2000 startup part, it's slowed. You got the Whistler sounds right, which it uses the 2000 sounds. 14. Whistler Fake Shutdown: The shutdown sound came straight from BeOS, which is a startup sound. 15. Server 2003: You actually shown a pre-release screen of Windows Server 2003, just to know. But this fake Server 2003 UK Startup sound came actually from a promotional video. No UK release of Server 2003 has been made, but if you buy one in UK, it's the same English copy everywhere, it uses XP sound. Windows Server 2003 used only the XP startup sound, but the shutdown is disabled by default along with other sound events to improve server performance. Fun fact: Windows 8 introduced the English UK language. 16. Longhorn Pre-Reset: That fake Longhorn sound isn't from a Samsung phone, but rather from a Samsung theme for Windows XP, you were close! And you got right, no builds used any of those alleged sounds, it used XP sounds in all pre-reset and post-reset builds (except for some post-reset builds with shutdown sound) 17. Vista build 5048 to 5284: You're right, but it's the tutorial of Speech Recognition, we get that. But still sounds beautiful when I used Vista back then 18. Vista Beta 2: You're right. 19. Vista RC: Not being present here, the startup sound is Windows XP and shutdown sound is the Windows Vista RTM logoff sound 20. Windows Server 2012: No sound at all because the startup sound event is broken (it applies from Server 2008 onwards), and also you forgot to use that Logon sound from Windows 8, which is a editing mistake. Real startup is Windows Vista but unfortunately it can't be enabled. 21. Windows 8/8.1: Another editing mistake, you should've used the logon sound as the fake sound. The real sound is used twice. True that Windows 8 onwards doesn't have a shutdown sound. 22. Windows 10: You nailed in this one. You're getting right at this time. 23. Windows 10X: Okay, you mistook the OOBE sound with BootUp.wav sound. Windows 10X startup sound must be BootUp.wav. Shutdown is none as we can say. 24. Windows 11: Shutdown screen is wrong, it's Windows 8.1 shutdown screen but with black background. 25. Windows Server 2022: Actually the bootscreen is wrong and it must be the Windows 8/8.1/10 one. And not for having Windows 11 UI part, it's because it's based on Iron codebase. Shutdown screen is the Windows 10 one, not Windows 8.1 with black background. I hope you'll improve more in everything, I'm going to give you a chance
