Don’t neglect to consider untreated OSA. CPAP has some interesting effects vis a vis GERD. I have seen several patients with GERD resolve symptoms once their OSA was treated effectively with CPAP.
Thank you for this highly informative video - it's just what I needed right now. After nine years of having only the chest pain and persistent cough symptoms, that were repeatedly misdiagnosed and medicated as poorly-managed asthma, I was finally able to get private healthcare this year, where the problem was investigated more thoroughly. I've now been diagnosed with a 5cm hiatus hernia, GORD and oesophagitis. I've already made diet and lifestyle changes, and I'm due to have a manometry and 24-hour ph monitoring in about a weeks' time, but I've been told I will probably still need the surgery you described, since the hernia is pretty large and will still cause problems even if medication fixes the acid reflux symptoms. I learned a lot from this video.

I developed crippling GERD with pain on lifting heavy items, however I no longer have it as I stopped taking Tamsulosin for BPH it is an alpha blocker which affects the oesophageal sphincter as well as other sphincters. Might be worth trying it to stop the GERD, I will look for another way to remove the problems of the Prostate, such as urolift or rezum .

I started with really bad acid replux about 9 months ago, halfway through covid lockdown. It started with a bad pain by right abdomen that reolved after an hour. Then I started getting reflux with all sorts of favourite foods and with tea but not coffee. The pain in eosaphgus seemed to be on left side so I found it painful trying to sleep on left side and had to turn over but when I did I could almost hear the eosaphagus slop over to the other side and the pain lessened but many nights I woke with pain and had to go have drink of warm water and a tablet. After 9 months I suddenly choked while eating soup. I felt I was going to die and began to feel faint but by deep breathing I managed to cough and clear whatever was blocking. Several days of acid followed then while sipping a spoon of soup it happened again but really badly and I felt myself fainting as I could not swallow nor take a breath. Luckily the blockage cleared but left me thinking I shoudl make a doctor's apointment. Few days later eating chicken the blockage and choking happened again and as previously I instantly felt I was blacking out and fainting. I daren't risk sipping a drink but before fainting i tried to cough and managed to dislodge the blockage. I have had no further reflux plains for 48 hours now. Hello can you eat as usual after the fundoplication and will this treatment stay strong for decades?
SHAAH HAMEED yes I can, the only difference is I have to eat slowly and smaller bites. Right after the surgery I had a hard time eating some foods like rice and pasta but I can eat them fine now. My surgeon told me that the surgery can last 20-30 years as long as you don’t do anything to damage it, like lifting heavy weights or drink carbonated beverages. Feel free to ask any questions you may have.

All your videos are just amazing... same is true fr this one too.. except there is one minor error " in normal anatomy of esophagus lower part of the oesophagus is not having columnar epithelium.. the entire esophagus has stratified squamous epithelium.. columnar epithelium is found only in pathological condition of Barrett's esophagus. " Hope u correct it soon.. otherwise everything is excellent...

Hi everyone I've been suffering from Gerd for Four years now and just like everyone in this comment section, I came here to find any solution to this horrible pain I was facing and not many have given enough solution to the problem, so I had to do some thing on my own to find one and I did for now, at this moment and for couple of weeks now, I've been free of most of the constant Panic attacks, jaw pain, behind the chest pain and many more to count, so what I found out was to have Ragi (Finger millet) in the form of a drink every morning before breakfast and then have my breakfast and then have a glass of Kefir culture, these things have truly helped me with sudden burst of chest pain and the whole acid issues all together, please do try this out yourself and do your own research on them before you wanna try it, PS - I've been on this for just few weeks and i can see results, it's very important as well to stay away from trigger foods while on this, Hope it helps I'm praying for each and every one of us here, God bless you all

How do you cure GERD ? I've seen vids about it, but what if acv doesn't work? The diet also hasn't worked as I don't even drink soda anymore since 3 years ago. I have no diagnosis myself but I feel like my esophagus has some nerve/ motility disfunction, and if that is the case, shall I get the surgery as last resort?

I like how you broke it down a lot further instead of just saying heartburn yat yat yat..etc...I mean we already know heartburn is one of the main symptoms of GERD but obviously, we want to understand the direction in where this is going. So thanks for the information. The only problem is I think I am going to have this God awful condition for the rest of my life...no treatment really works for mine. Oh well.

Please advise me because I am confused about my strange symptoms. I don't know if silent reflux is caused by esophageal reflux. Do you feel something like air going up from the chest to the throat, and sometimes something walking in the chest like air going up and down, sometimes like ants walking in the left chest, and sometimes like a vibrating phone and pain. I am from England. I am now in my early 40s and wen i was 13 years old after stuffing my self eating a meal then around 20 min later I felt really uncomfortable and I couldn't breathe proper it honestly felt like sumat burst inside my stomach and i felt really uneasy i had no air TO breathe whole of my body went really warm and i just had no air TO breathe i then went to bed trying to brush it off but after waking up i felt same but a tiny bit better my dad took me to doctors i complained i can't breathe proper but doctor always sed my breathing was fine... It lasted around 6 weeks this happend in 1991 age 13. And through out my life I've suffered this . 1992/93 was ok . Then suffered same in 94/95/96 . I remember 1997/98 i was perfectly fine i recall it now i started smoking late 1998 And that truly made it worse and worse and 1999 was very very and felt like my stomach/WINDPIPE and foodpipe is knackered i just couldn't breathe i then had a ct scan for lungs and chest in 1999 but results came out fine.. I went better by 2000 then from late 2000 to 2011 the whole of 11 years i was fine. Then may 2011 it HAPPEN again very bad went better by 2012.. 2013 again that lasted 3 months. Now 2018 this time its gone worse and worse!!!!! plz HAs anyone else SUFFERED this????????
Quit smoking. I got the same Just reasently. Tought i had an Lung infection. The docor Said maybe i have a virus air way infection. Time went by and i got better. Now 2 months later i geel good exept chest burn some houers og the Day and burping alot. Im going BACK to the doctor on friday after testing the acid medisin but it works bad. Maybe i have to swallow the camera 🙄😷 but but this is life my friend we are stupid. Ill quit nikotin and try the natrual way before i swallow anything. Thats for sure

Try changing the food you eat. Stay away from dairy cows milk and fried or spicy foods. This helped me a lot
