Protests at Columbia and other US universities continued at full force over the weekend, with more arrests around the country and skirmishes between pro-Israel and pro-Palestinian demonstrators. As Columbia threatens to suspend pro-Palestinian protesters, FRANCE 24 is joined by Dr Richard Johnson, Senior Lecturer in US Politics & Policy at Queen Mary University of London.

  • It is really stupid to believe that the universities' divestment could put any pressure on Isreali military decision.

  • Peace will come only when hostages are released and freedom when democracy is established in Gaza and West bank. Ignorance appears rampant in univs. Palestinians have to create governance institutions internally. Governments in Gaza and West bank are in 19th year in officie of their four year elected term! Protest for free and fair elections in territory. Students appear so uninformed of issues at stake.

  • The ties to Israel for these universities may be "too close" but they aren't closer than the ties to their students.

  • The struggle of these children is not the struggle of Hamas or Palestine. The struggle for freedoms and rights and no one should criminalize this.

    • Lol the chants were "death to America". 😂. It sounds furthest from the struggle of children.

    • @@bratwurstmitbiryani I guess you haven't heard what Trump said about America. Of course, we do not approve of such violent discourses, but it is important to remember that provocateurs enter into such actions and sabotage them. Such violent provocateurs must be caught.

  • Jesus said, “Blessed are the peacemakers, because they will be called sons of God” (Matt. 5:9). Into a world that is ugly with violence and hate, Jesus sends us as peacemakers! Solidarity to end Genocide and power houses through AIPAC and Freemasons/banks system!
